I have I 2000 impreza turbo which has a magnex oval back box, the rest of the system is is standard.

Would I see / hear any gains by getting a centre decat pipe?

I've seen a magnex centre decat pipe with a resonator box in. Does any body have experience or heard these?

removing the standard cat should get you some gains - not had any experience of magnex stuff - they used to have a great rep but that was many years ago so I wouldn't like to say

I've had magnex on previous cars. And got the back box on mine now and they seem very solid systems

Just wondered how much louder it would be? Whether it would be a bit o.t.t... but then again that's what it's all about isn't it :)

wont be much louder - don't think you will be upsetting your neighbours

i thought that with the resonator too, would there be any noticeable difference driving it?

Seen them for roughly 50 quid so no much to Shell out but just wanted opinions first  :)

Maybe it's hard to say as I don't know how restrictive that cat is, usually a lot of placebo with these things. They help towards a remap but on their own more sound difference over anything else. Let us know how it goes

What am I saying just go balls out double decat and deres centre section, it's what I've got waiting for me when I get home, then 3 different backboxes to try with it so I get the perfect sound can't wait

See I like the idea of total decat but it will be massively loud won't it?

Think I'm going to get a silicone hose set this month and exhaust next. See what happens

Why do imprezas have 2 cats anyways ?

Because they are devils spawn and want to watch the world burn! I imagine the 2.0 turbo petrol full time awd has something to do with it and emission laws/regulations. The newage have 3 one in the up-pipe before the turbo. Always fancied getting rid of this as the idea of it breaking up and destroying my turbo gives me shivers though I've not heard of that with the scoobys more so MR2s. I know they were put there to help catalyse when the engine is cold running

My old vxr had 2 and in comparison I'm surprised the Scooby doesn't have 4 lol

My existing system was magnex centre decat and 3" tailpipe wasn't too loud was just a tad louder than standard

Did you have a straight decat or the magnex with the resonator box on?

iIve seen a magnex with res on eBay thats all, and its cheaper than the normal decat pipes so just curious as to whether its worth getting

exhaust_wrx_diagram.jpg

or intermediate pipe as it says in the above diagram, not much in gains to be had but should change the note and volume quite a bit

I think mine is even show's you the sensors and which way the air goes :D

I've had it ages and have been dieing to use it for a post so I did I couldn't resist :)

And it gives me something else to try find again now :D

He wants to know which pipe he's potentially buying; so in answer to his question I win

I have seen that other picture and did find it useful getting my head round the scoobys engine layout so yours is just as helpful in other ways  ;)  :P

So in conclusion are we saying the other decat pipes that are available are longer than that one to replace the mid pipe and second cat ?
