maxim
Hi guys.I got jdm 1994 wrx. I was driving without front disc pads for 2 weeks short distances to work and back(hadnt time to fix it). Caliper was slightly sometimes touching break disc when i was turning steering wheel mostly. Yesterday i ve done few 5 sec 0-60 pulls with my friends and after that front left disc got almost seized by caliper (it stuck in 1 position constantly touching disc making nasty noise and slowing a bit car down) i decided to drive back home slowly but after 1 mile i had a trouble. See picture.. Car is not moving anymore but i can go through the gears 1st 2nd 3rd ! 3 healthy wheels dont move but something keeps spinning with noise in damaged wheel area. Is it normal or something else damaged (diff??)why only 1 damaged wheel tries to spin and the rest 3 stay? Please have a look on the picture what can be damaged(actually wheel angle more than on the picture after recovery wheel stay quite straight). I live in london. Any one knows call out mechanic who can have a quick look.Or subaru garage ? Any ideas?
Tlag
I can't believe you have driven without front pads for 2 weeks! That's just unbelievably dangerous for you, your passengers and everyone else on the road. I could rant on here but I won't bother. I'm guessing what you have done is seized a hub due to heat. The amount of energy going through the caliper pistons onto the the disk would cause massive heat, even for short distances. That heat would directly transfer through all the components, so I'm guessing you have seized a hub. The disks will also need renewing. They will be warped and scored all over the place.

Jay762
I share the others concerns about you driving with no pads - not clever. Did you have the car towed back, were the front two wheels locked onto a tow device, if so that may have damaged the transmission. Other than that it does sound like you have damaged the hub

Gambit
Pffft. To be fair mate I think you're lucky in so many ways 1st one this being a friendly forum. I've driven some sheds around but I think you have made them look like pristine motor's. But I'm guessing by your lack of care for others on the road and yourself nevermind the car I would say your best bets selling it as a spares or repairs. Hub damage warped disc brakes broken calipers alloy's warped possible the list will no doubt go on the damage it will have done.

Jonny b
Any sort of person with any mechanical knowledge however small that drives with no brakes should not have a license to drive a tonne+ of killing machine let alone one capable of what scoobies are

Jonny b
You do realise that at least 70% of braking comes from the front?? Rears are just really to keep the back end from diving in the air keeping car as level as possible! Most children are killed in sub 30 mph accidents! I rarely exeeded 30 mph i live in central london To be fair mate I think this will be better left alone now. I think in central London was not really going to help your course. I have to say I try to see the funny side of most thing's in life. I can't see one here, and i'm not really sure what you want people to say to you without being rude in some form or another. So I will monitor this for an hour and if I feel it is getting out of hand it will be closed without notice.

Pommy
I agree with above, absolute !Removed! idiot, rear brakes are no where good enough in any emergency or even in normal braking. No matter how fast you are going. If anyone had stepped out you would have no chance whatsoever. And as above this guys should be banned from this forum, and from driving. Even without mechanical skill you know if you don't have a functioning brake (yet alone 2) you shouldn't be driving. !Removed! Moron.

Pommy
This guy needs to go what an idiot. 0-60 on a motorway is possibly even more stupid than no brakes. Someone hits you when you are moving slowly and its game over. I honestly don't care one bit if you hurt yourself but if you hurt other that bothers me. If someone I knew did any of the above I would be on the ringer to the police and getting him done for dangerous driving, driving without due care and attention. and reckless endangerment.
