No so funky sounds

Morning all,

Seems as though I'm having a few problems of late, all bar one of them seems to be fixed though....

Occasionally, although more frequently now my offside rear passenger door speaker is going crazy. It can go from fine, to slight crackles to a noise than can only be likened to someone tripping over the main speaker lead at the O2, kicking it then reconnecting it (in other words, really ****** loud).

The head unit doesn't even have to be on which is even weirder and nothing I do with the dials has any effect.

Before I start removing door cards etc has anyone had anything similar to this? Would it suggest a loose connection at the head unit or speaker? Or perhaps a dodgy earth?

Everything is OEM regarding the audio so any help would be appreciated.

Enjoy your weekend everyone :)

Is it when your driving over a bump it does it ?

But I would start at the Stereo and work my way back does sound like a lose wire. I have well I guess I can call it after market set up. so can't help much.

I had this with mine earthing out on the door it self

The problem with mine was when the windows had been put down it cut the speaker wires and the the wires was earth out on the door.

If I was you I would take the card off and check the spear connection.

Hope this helps.

  • 8 months later...

Hi all,

So I'm back on this issue again. I took the door card off and the wiring was a little dodgy (loose wires etc). I plugged wires back into where they needed to be as well as wrapping anything exposed in insulation tape which fixed it until a week or so ago.

The same symptoms came back and because the weathers been so bad haven't had a chance to look into again. 2 nights ago there was a load pop and a burning smell - something electrical and no more crackling.....or sound at all. I thought it might have been something in the head unit but it still turns on and works fine, albeit without the sound.

Does anyone have any ideas as to what might have gone? I don't want to invest in a new unit only for it not to work or for part of it to go again

Cheers
