had a REALLY close call the day to detonating my engine. went to work this morning and thought i would take the scoob. gorgeous day sunny and dry so gave it some welly on the way into aberdeen. disposing of slower cars with ease. got to work and car ticking over on timer and i hear a hell of a rattle knocking from under the bonnet., first thought was big ends by the sound of it. popped bonnet and there is the crank shaft pulley wobbling all over the place . car stops by now and when i grab it the bolt is only about 4 turns from coming out!!!!. went a bit weak at the knees at what could have happened and tightened it back up. 2 yrs of running and thats the first time thats happened.. cold sweat over now tho :)

thats what happened to a lad on our west coast scooby cruise. only his did go on fire when he blew no 3 conrod thru the top of the block and it spat all the oil straight onto the turbo. terminal does not cover the aftermath

My brothers Skyline did something like that but he was filling up petrol when it did it :D Was his own fault for racing it with out letting it warm up

    am wondering if it has something to do with the engine valet as it seems strange that its less than a week since then and then this happened. ah well note to myself carry a 22 mm socket from now on lol

Well I hope you didn't use the seats before you fitted or after for that matter. You might need to eat a drive through sat on them one day :D

whats the going rate for an engine rebuild????? and i'm talking cosworth bits and other high end bits for big power.

just need to know so i know how much effort i have to put in for the next few months lol

Not sure about 2 years ago mine was sent away full rebuild remap and some extras was £2,900 at Scoobyworld that was using the best parts at the time for my car

the bigger cubes should give more torque, you should be able to get 350bhp from a standard bore and stroke (with uprated components) but running a larger capacity allows for more mixture within the chambers so you should be able to run a lower boost to get the same bang as smaller capacity unit which would have to run higher levels

A goodly idea - a bit of a wander off topic - the mods should have prompted this
