My advice would be to chat to scoobybits about it, out at Wheel Busy. I dont know where in cornwall you are, but people seem to travel to them, since they are probably the only specialist subaru garage in Cornwall Jason knows his stuff, and has so much modified cars through there, he will likely know what works and what doesn't. They are also an authorised cobra exhaust centre, so if you decide to go down that route, they are the "go to" people. https://www.scoobybits.co.uk/ (I am in no way affiliated with them or receive money for promoting. haha) If you are towards the north of the county, I would probably recommend Engine Tuner, in Plymouth. They have been working on Subaru's for many years.

Alan Jeffries has been around the mapping scene for many years, he has a lot of experience. I believe its his son Martyn who races a mapped and modded classic Impreza at some of the drag and drift events around here (and is one of the fastest). I would trust them. If you were to look further afield, Scoobybits in the Truro area in cornwall has a good rep, and is a subaru specialist.

Yeah, like minds think alike, they were changed when it first started happening, around the same time the fuel cleaner went through. Didn't notice any of the old ones looking any worse than the others at the time Sent from my CLT-L09 using Tapatalk

Ok, thanks, plenty to be looking at. The strangest part of it is that it is far worse when running on premium fuels. If I put in standard fuel, it runs a lot better. Sent from my CLT-L09 using Tapatalk

New to Subaru (and may not stay long!)

Any warning lights on the dash lit when the alarm sounds? -
(2006 impreza R Sport, 2.0 N/A EJ204 with avcs) Ive got a strange issue with the engine running rough, and misfiring a lot, juddery acceleration, but almost completely between 2500 and 3500 revs. No issues outside of that band. Its had a new O2 sensor this year, which didnt cure the problem, and fuel system cleaner only helped for about a week or so. It doesnt show up any error codes, and has stumped 2 mechanics so far, and cant seem to get a definite answer. I dont want to keep throwing money at lots of parts for trial and error, so wondered if anyone has ideas? Thought about disconnecting MAF to see if this helps, but some people said subarus often dont even run without it? Likely causes im assuming would be either injectors or coils, but I dont want to spend out on one, to find it was the other. FreeSSM shows no faults, BTSSM app shows lots of faults for stuff my car doesnt even have, so not sure whether to trust that app. That one shows slow response errors from almost every sensor on the car (plus ones I dont, DPF for example) Not sure what the next step to take, dont want to have to pay main dealer prices if I can help it.

No worries. I think the Michelin pilot sports are also a favorite on here, so its up to you whats available where you are, and best prices. I dont think there is a wrong choice between them. I dont have much personal experience with other brands. There is section for suspension tyres and wheels, so you may have faster responses in there. Most of the guys on here are really good, generally. Not generally a hatch person myself, but it looks good 😉

I would have thought it unlikely, the coils on the newage are pencil type on the individual plugs. Might be worth while checking all the connectors, and the coils themselves just to make sure everything is seated ok from the impact, and not just jolted loose. It would be just like it to order parts, and find it was just something out of place.

Personal choice is always the deciding factor, since many of the premium tyres are all good. I have a set of Avon ZV5s on mine, really like them. They were really good in the snow we had earlier this year, despite being a summer tyre. I will definitely be looking for a set of the newer ZV7s when I next need tyres. I had continental premium contact 5s on my previous car, wouldnt go back to them. The straight line grip is ok, but they have rounded flexible sidewalls, bouncy ride, less stable in the corners. They also wear fairly fast too.

Over the weekend, ive had the front of the car off, its now showing off a set of Hella Supertone twin horns, a massive upgrade from the puny ones from subaru. Bit of front end bling in an otherwise fairly toned down car. Pity I messed up the idle calibration from having the battery off, and had that to deal with afterwards. Self inflicted though.

Nice car. Hope you get some photos up soon. Colour?

Nice. The red mudflaps set off nicely against the colour of the car, gives it some good detail. Just need some sun now for all seasons of photos :-)

Redex is good, but Forte is better, although only available to mechanics as it is tighter controlled. Mine had Forte through, admittedly no previous emission issues, but passed with the lowest emissions ive ever seen on an mot. Well worth it.

O2 sensor is a possibility, I've just had to replace one on my Impreza. Mine tended to misfire in a specific rev band, but could be all over. If so, it pays to shop around. Some suppliers want £200-300 for it. Got mine from opie oils for £107, for a denso. If that isn't the issue, maf could be an outside possibility, or like the others said, coil packs, plugs, maybe an injector. mine benefited from a fuel system clean out with forte my mechanic put through for me. Sounds like a tasty motor. Ive recently been getting turbo envy. You're entering the world of Subaru in the right way. As for the bonnet latch: I was recommended importcarparts.co.uk as a source of parts by others on here, they have a good range of parts for subaru's Alternatively you could have a look at Moffs posts/dm him on here, his site tmsmotorsport.co.uk and his ebay page has an ever changing list of parts, he may have something in stock. Failing that, scoobybits.co.uk near me may have something, they are on facebook as well, and are quick to respond to messages. Good luck, and welcome to the forum

From one wagon owner to another, welcome

Just had the first MOT during my ownership on Thursday. Pleased to say it flew through first time, emissions sheet was the lowest ive ever seen, thanks to a recent O2 sensor and a dose of Forte our local mechanic put through. Even more pleased to find that the noise on full right turn (I thought it might be cv joint) turned out to be just the tyre rubbing on the arch liner, which has pulled out a bit.

All sorted, managed to get a denso (dox-0361 is the denso part number) from opieoils for £107, much better deal. Engine running sweet now. Thanks

I seem to have found it. According to importcarparts.co.uk, the oem part number is 22641AA381. Many thanks.

Thanks, I will check it out. I'm currently looking for a precat O2 sensor for a 2006 n/a Impreza (EJ204 avcs) Sent from my HTC One M9 using Tapatalk

Hi, just wondering where people tend to get the oem part numbers from, to match up buying new parts? Ive needed a few things recently, and im struggling to find the part numbers, since different sites list different part numbers. Is there a concise catalog anywhere that accurately lists part numbers by model?

I've got a 2006 n/a hawk Impreza. I've recently developed a power loss and jerky power delivery between 2 and 3000 revs. 1st garage I went to couldn't get any error codes, my diagnostics couldn't. They got a specialist out, and found old codes for an 02 sensor and an injector. Told me to drive it and see which codes come back, but the codes haven't come back by last week. Then I read on another site that elm327 chips don't work well with Subaru's (http://www.subaruoutback.org/forums/65-parts-accessories-performance/39426-freessm-complete-access-your-ecm-tcu.html#/topics/39426), so I now have a vag-com cable with a ftdi chip and tried freessm by berios, still no fault codes. Any recommendations for diagnostic systems? I'm a bit puzzled why the engine management light wasn't lot for the old codes, too. (It's currently having the 02 sensor replaced and an injector cleaner through as a precaution, although not sure if they are the problem) Sent from my HTC One M9 using Tapatalk

Hi, new member here. Im fairly new to owning a subaru, having bought my Impreza at the beginning of autumn. Its a 2006 impreza R Sport wagon (Hawkeye) Non turbo, 160hp 2.0 AVCS. Its good fun most of the time (traffic here is a nightmare). Some recent problems with a fuel injector and an O2 sensor, but should all be back to normal this week. Currently a work in progress when the weather allows to add some personal touches to it soon
