  1. Yea just spoke to them......£117 for gaskets (metal, thick) or 230 for top end kit inc metal gaskets
  2. It's a 95 wrx sti import, 86000 (140000kms), vgc for its year, timing ect was done about 15k miles but the date on the receipt is 2010/11, I know what you're saying about selling and getting something else I don't know, that's true, but if I did, this i'd get a block tester, and if the dye changed, I'd walk away. I don't mind other engine bits, and wear n tear stuff, but heads, that's different. So if I was to try and fix it you say a steel gasket....I got a price from the dealer, I asked for a c/h gasket kit....400 + vat, just shy of 500 ffs.....I'm sure I could get it cheaper and the same quality I'll see what happens, still not sure what to do, I feel kinda sorry for the car and the way it's been treated from the last 5-6 idiots, I'm not a fast driver, I just like the cars for what they are, ie shape, sound, awd....mpg though =**** Like I say, see what happens
  3. Thanks Gambit, y'know between you and Jay (maybe 1 or 2 others but not a lot at all) you guys are great!! I just spoke to the local factors about it and he said if I'm repairing it to use the fibre gasket and steel, is this right enough....I thought steel was the best way to go, he said (and I guess it makes sense) fibre's more forgiving, hence it's recommended, is that right enough
  4. Had it confirmed today the h/g's are gone so as the title, I just dont know what to do, either sell it the way it is and cut my losses, break it, wich take !Removed! ages and still end up having lying about ending up getting thrown out, or fix it. If I was to (try) and fix it, I'd try and take the engine out (with help from a neighbour) and give it to the mobile mechanic I use to help cut the cost down. But as of right now....I just dont know what's the best/right thing to do....I've got an ad and some photos ready though
  5. Doesnt matter .....h/g's fkd, had it confirmed today
  6. I just read somewhere (not here) when hot, the water should be at the top just under the lip of the bottle, when cold, doesn't really matter
  7. Ok, I'll try and get photo later
  8. On the black expansion tank on the 95 wrx....yes !Removed! black with no markings I can find, good eh!......when topping where do you look so you don't overfill
  9. Yep, I was trying it !Removed! from elbow....but you're right, I'll need to move the horn, there's also a bigger than normal cutout in the inner wing from a previous arsehole owner when fitting the front I/c, so will probably need to find something to seal it.....see how it goes
  10. In the photo, what other bit of pipe or plastic fits here, where I've marked it, there's a hole on the side of it as if there's another bit of tubing ect goes in then maybe goes to the front, but the round black canister's in the way and it wont "sit" right....it's as if it's not the right airbox and yet if was advertised as for a 95 wrx In this one....again where I've marked it, the trunking from the maf wont fit in the airbox hole, there's a rubber grommet type thing in the hole....like I said above, it's as if it's either the wrong box or there's still bits missing
  11. I got a comp tester from neigbour earlier, will hopefully try it tomorrow sometime, I'll try the left plugs as they're's no airbox, just that stupid !Removed! cone (which hopefully wont be there long)
  12. That's what I've been using mind you, I just if I'd get away with u/l. .as v's 10p a ltr dearer, robbing fkrs!!
  13. I found a crack in the top rad hose (which is fixed) There's no mayo on the dip stick or filler cap....but then again it's quite far up from the engine so oil and mayo have to travel quite a bit to get near it
  14. For the last 2-3 weeks been driving without a fault, tonight when coming back, the temp went dam near the red then steam coming from under the bonnet (drivers side), I put the heater and blower on full, it brought it down a bit but very slow, also just cold air not hot coming from vents. When I got back, I put some boiling water from the kettle in the ex tank (as I did the other week), it bubbled something rotten and spilled over (I had the engine running at the time, then stopped it) it dissapeared (as in the level went right down), I put more in, same thing happened. Thing is though....it's running out from under ex tank somewhere, not the cap, it's dry there....unless the steam cam from there but because it's steam, didnt leave any marks....but the cone filter and the black box with 2 black pipes to the left of the rad, were wet with spilled coolant......what the fk's wrong....is it a h/g? If so...it's either getting scrapped or broke....and just yesterday I spent £220 on 2 recon calipers...f*cker!! It's did 140,000, had a new t/belt ect 20,000 miles ago....I'm really fkd off with it now
  15. I would if I had one.....doesn't matter now, I've got more serious !Removed! to deal with....see other post......car may well get scraped out sold for spares THIS time....see what happens
  16. I don't know the background on it ie if it's been mapped for vpower ect, I don't fill tanks I just put in what I need
  17. I'm very clean :P Copper it is then....thought so
  18. !Removed! me nearly 40 views and nothing
  19. Sounds a stupid question I know but when putting other calipers on today the washers I loosened were a black type, not copper....should I put copper on
  20. Thanks but they're to close, I still can make out what it's bolted onto
