  1. i would say its handy to have tbh as saves leaving the keys in, especially when turning up to shows and can just blip the car once its off
  2. does it run with the maf unplugged ? did you drop or knock the maf ?
  3. be more likely running stolen plates by now, however its a very distinct car, may be worth checking petrol stations in the area with a few pics.
  4. haha im going down once the parts have arrived, im just happy i managed too get a decent top mount as really didnt want to cut the bumper or the wing, anyone used the Apexi FC Ecu as debating that for mafless ??
  5. If you read my welcome post you would understand why mine is in for a rebuild. As for the other one that turned up and drove it like an !Removed! without warming it up and then wondered why it let go. What you need to remember is this, you dont just jump straight into s*x do you ?? need to foreplay first, same for a scooby, you cant just go in guns or its not going to be a happy car :). turbo timer is a must i would say, but make sure you have a decent alarm otherwise you will still end up sat it car while its on.
  6. Dont take this personal, but you've joined a Scooby forum to sell a car, stating it one of the best left and then added no pictures, the spec list is well lacking to say the least . My items on ebay gets hundreds of views but that means diddly, i think you certainly need to rethink you sales technique. A new Second hand engine ?? you mean rebuilt ? do you have receipts as proof ? I advise next time if your trying to sell a car even if it is dire circumstances like you say atleast post hello first and maybe a few other posts, if time doesn't allow then I recommend don not post on that particular forum. Cheer Rant over.
  7. weeeeeeeeell this thread has been dead for a while. So incase people was wondering ;);) Went in for the usual rocker gasket jobby. however, loads of oil on the engine indicated a little horror No gaskets at all, the timing was just about to be checked when we realised the tensioners were not seated right. the horror then continued...... The problem was found to be the previous plant pot (owner) decided to cheap out and put two newage B dots and Two A dots in my Class B close deck block. For anyone wondering, This IS BAD two of my cylinder walls are scuffed and obvious i will need two new pistons. the heads well where to start, rather than using the appropriate bolts, he has used ones that were way too big, so one of the heads and cams were totally shot. Gasket o where art thou Gaskets, Again cheaped out and used sealant on EVERY single part that needed a gasket. So what was the plan, well i was going to break the car and cut my losses, however i dont know what it is, maybe the total lack of rust but i cant put my finger on it why i cant get rid. So the build took a back seat as Martin had agreed to look after my car till the parts where sourced and he had a little more time on his hands. A local scrounge on Ebay found a guy selling Some awsome looking STI V6 heads with cams and bolts and everything i needed. £300 a bit steep to what i wanted to pay and he was knocked down to £220 posted :) result. T heads came and where found to be in prestine condition and look like have uprated cams :) TD04L Pointless turbo for the power i wanted, again a late night search on Ebay and i found a TD05 for Auction, a Cheeky last min bid of £79 posted and it was mine. And then the build sat still for a while, I found a new love, the Skyline, however the lack of 4WD and Clenching like a !Removed! round every roundabout when it spits rain made me realise i want my scooby back, So the hunt continued for parts. while trawling through ebay AGAIN i came across an auction, a guy selling a Gen STI Newage Intercooler but wanting to buy a Classic one at the same time, £70 and a deal on my old one and it was mine. I initially looked at a front mount, however i prefer the stealthier look of the top mount and DID not want to cut my front bumper for the sake of loosing my P1 style splitter. Read a few threads and quickly realised i needed a fuel pump to power the new power house, A scooby Worx 290lph was ordered as soon i will be going for decent power. The thread also mentioned boost controllers, not really wanting to go that route as im going to save for a Simtek or similar i opted for Scooby Worx's 3 Port Boost solenoid for both items was a cool £143 delivered. Total so far £500+ which considering the parts i have ended up getting i think is pretty decent. The car is planned to go into GRS performance in Rotherham where it will be mapped, once the dreaded run in phase is done ofc, Im hoping to see around the 350BHP, but with the turbo i think 320-330 is more likely. More to follow.........

  12. my advice is avoid, mine came with one unfitted and i toyed with the idea of getting a nice cheap bhp increase, however i turned up at a local tuning company for a T piece. He had a 450bhp GTI R sat out front that hadnt moved for a while and when i queried why this was his response. Fitted a blitz in car boost controller ( more expensive than manual) and after fitting my stage 2 turbo took it for a spin with a slight increase in boost. turned around and booted it and it spiked to 1.8bar. his turbo went bang as did the head on the engine. I turned around and went him and binned my manual controller. If you want something doing do it right, £15 for the sake of 40-60bhp sounds great on paper, but is it worth £1200 + for the sake of a new engine and turbo.

  17. isnt that the idle control ? ive just had this problem with the skyline, its pre obd 2 but uses a system called Consult, even the obd2-1 cable didnt work. However depending on the adapter and software (app) used is depending on if it will connect to the given car. I payed £4 for a Vgate one and £2 for the Torque Pro app, so far ive tested the following Vehicles: Ford Focus ST2 Vauxhall Corsa SXI+ Skyline (Failed) Subaru Impreza 99 Seat Altea If its the Maf thats causing it uplug the maf while the engines running and if it doesnt cut out its a maf Fault.
  18. 2.5 are as quoted by martin " made of chocolate ":) after a remap mine could comfortably get 35mpg @280bhp however due to the pests (corsa VXR drivers) i found 25 was basically what i was getting. and even as low as 15mpg :) Services arnt too bad, however spark plug changes are an engine lift job and as such are best done with a full service, most places charge around £300 plus for a full service, you can only run Scoobys on 97Ron plus fuel or expect trouble down the line unless you get it mapped for it, and im afraid if your into cheap oils and filter these arnt the cars to be using. Hope this helps :)
