  3. yeah ive priced the pistons and rods up, for forged your looking around £750, then ive got the honing and over bore, its going to be lovely and cheap, but may as well just go in balls deep now as i think im passed the point of no return lol. Ill check those sites out though bud :) thanks for the heads up.
  4. 2 bores are scuffed from the wrong pistons and so think it will be and overbore on all 4 but dont quote me on that. tbh it was a gent tap and martin worked his way all around it split really easy in all honesty.

  6. if you go onto my Turbo newbie post there are some pics of it on my bugeye, didnt stick out too far at all, and tbh like i said today people dont like it cause its cheap, if it made 280 on mine on a td04 ill stand by it tbh.

  10. engine has been split and looked at, both the crank and rods are in good condition thank god. however still need, X4 pistons New oil Pump New Water Pump Gaskets. new Clutch (not needed but while engine is out) Wish list, as ive decided to go Rambo on it, 6 Speed STI box Simtek Ecu Forge Pistons and Rods Should do nicely for what i want.
  11. im pricing the forge parts up and looking around £800+ before map, then im saving for a custom ecu, welcome to the money pit my friend lol
  12. so a long screw driver was used and the engine came apart, crank and rods are in good nick :) so is the engine overall :)

  16. could be the crank, or the big end, does it get worse after you rev it ?

  18. Ask tom how patient i am lol. im down to the last two pistons just need the sprigot rings out then its time to split, and see if a nasty horrer is there, the guy has used what appears to be a tub of silicone everywhere, the pick up mesh was covered :s
  19. in neutral thats right mate has a rev cut as standard
  20. im still doing it, but it should be easier than mine was, true ash fashion something was alot harder than everyone else (steady) the pulley took 1hr of graft to shift lol
  21. also remember cheaper maps are usually by !Removed! mappers, and is it worth saving 200 to then pay a grand +, ill upload pics of my close deck block tomorrow where the last kid cut corners :s
  22. trust me stanton its horrible to strip down haha, true subaru fashion ill add phillips screws to one of the hottest parts of the engine, have fun getting them out haha.

  24. he did indeed, tried to be all hi mate, i didnt say one word, inspected the exhaust and handed some scrunched notes over.
