Finally fitted my new stereo. Once the gear knob and gater were off i could take out the 12v socket panel and side silver part. 6 screws and the old unit comes out. The new part screws together and then you attach the stereo. Bit of messing with cables and aerials then put it all back together. (Insert drink tea after each new sentence lol). Anyway am really happy. Sound out of the box is brilliant and the app radio thing works well. Have to figure out if i can listen to the dab radio and sat nav at same time? Looks pretty standard as well :-)

Just at louth tow bar centre having a tow bar fitted to the outback. Whole back end of the car is off! Wouldn't fancy this as a diy. Thanks for the recomendation gambit :-) the guy who owns it has an impreza and his son has an impreza wagon lol. Mini scooby meet lol. Price is very good as well. Cheers Alan

I only ask as I used some sainsbury stuff in mine and it ran like a dog and gave crap mileage. Put she'll back in and it perked up. Fingers crossed the dealer sorts it :-)

Seems a bit weird. Wonder if she has had some dirty supermarket diesel and that has clogged it up. You do hear of these diesels doing rocket miles as well as breaking though. I got mine as a diesel due to my mileage and running costs tbh. Hoping for a good 100k out of it if I'm honest :-) Cheers Alan

Well tyre turned out to be scrap. The new one is directional tread pattern just slightly different but will have to do or now. Mystery solved as to why the gunk was in there though!! My lead cam for the stereo today so now have everything ready to do the install just need the time now :-) Cheers Alan

Bonus 1 has turned out not so good. Came out this morning to find the dodgy wheel nearly flat. Pumped it up and went to work. At lunch had dropped 10psi. Went to my local garage and checked it but no obvious leaks. Pumped up and back to work. Had to put another 15psi back in it to get home. Checked it again 4 hours later and flat. Have put 40psi in it and could her the air. Looks like a tiny hole about 0.5 to 1 cm from the sidewall. Reckon that will be too close to repair. I wonder if the seller got the puncture after the tyres were brand new and put the stuff in as it coldn't be repaired. Good hint was he gave me a extra tyre with them so will have to get that fitted tomorrow. Slightly different tread which I don't like doing but gets me mobile in it again. Have emailed a couple of tyre places to see if I can get a new tyre with the same tread so fingers crossed. Cheers Alan

Bonus. Took the wheel to tyremen in hull who I've used before and they are very good. Turns out it was full of that tyre weld stuff so would never balance! They cleaned it all up and found the refurb people haven't cleaned all the corrosion of the inside bead so was probably them who put the sealant in to try and get it airtight!! They cleaned everything up properly and it seated straight on and balanced first go. Only charged me £10 as well which was awesome. Would recommend them as they take care with getting tyres off the rims and don't damage the paint like some of the animals!! All in all a good result. The seller has never used he seal stuff and we are both plead it was an easy fix. Not charged him for it as not worth te hassle tbh. Bonus 2! My new facia panel has arrived today. Top service from hammonds subaru. Can't wait to get the box open and have a look :-) Cheers Alan

Yeah no worries :-) I had my race wheels painted for the same reason as you can't see cracking through the powder coat. Cheers Alan

Haha she'll have you doing the bikini car wash lol

Been in touch with the seller and i've found a place in hull who might be able to sort ot. Seller has offered a good chunk towards whatever the cost would be but if over a certain amount then will give a full refund. Very honest bloke. Said they were ok on his forester. Reckon if he had the bad one on the back he would never have known as you can only feel it through the steering. Don't think i'll have any issue and the place i'm going to is a bit more specialist tbh. Fingers crossed. Cheers Alan

Gutted :-( Just got back from ats in immingham. Had a slight wheel shake at 70 so presumed it was balancing. Turns out one wheel has a barely perceptible flat spot which they couldn't balance out. Contacted seller to see what he says but don't know if somwthing like that can be repaired?? Wheels look perfect to sight but you only notice it when they are spinning :-( Dunno what the seller will say Cheers Alan

Crikey didn't think they would be that dear! Bonus lol
-
Put a cheeky bid in and got them for £225!! They are mint. Couple of tiny scratches but they will touch up and the tyres are like new. Not a top brand but seem ok :-) ebay is sooooo dangerous lol
-
So while i was there getting my tyres i got some extra bits as well. I think the dog guard is off a forester but might fit other stuff. No idea what the exhaust and intercooler is off but the exhaust is brand new. It wouldn't fit his forester so might be impreza??? Any ideas on that would be cool :-) Also got an extra tyre which is nearly new! Bonus Cheers Alan

Sorted :-) Need to get them balanced as a bit of a judder at 70 but i like them :-) Deffo looking stealthy lol
-
Am going to put them on this morning (got a couple more days off work) so will take a pic. Going for the mean stealth look lol. Cheers Alan

Well what a day. Firstly thanks to gambit who lent me his halfords card. Found out halfords had reduced the stereo I wanted by a further £60 so went and got it today. Popped over to gambits to borrow his card and his car was high in the air having brake discs etc fitted. Hopefully all finished now? Was even allowed to park on the drive in the wife's Audi without being shot lol. Then tonight I won a set of wheels on eBay that I wasn't expecting to go for the price I bid. Put a cheeky bid on and won em. Nearly brand new tyres amd wheels powder coated before his forester blew up a couple of years ago and these were stored in a shed. In great condition so am well chuffed. Left here at 9pm and been to Nottingham and just got back lol Top car day lol Cheers Alan

No worries. He called it factory tints. I think it is one down from the limo black. Same stuff as they use on range rovers and Mercs etc. does look nice though but you can still see out at night :-)

Got very very very wet at donington!
-
My iphone fits in that cubby hole just nicely lol
-
That looks very nice. Am a sucker for white cars Ooh like curborough it's a great little track. That last bend before the finish straight can be tricky ;-) Cheers Alan
-
Got my windows tinted. Well happy :-) Tow bar is fitted tuesday then just waiting for my dash panel :-)

I've read that it isn't that easy as you need the whole wiring loom that goes with it. I'd half looked into this idea myself but have elected to go down the route of replacing the stereo for a double din unit i can have nav on. Cheers Alan
