  1. AS performance charge £450 + delivery for the conversion, give alyn a bell. Bear in mind its a proce for hte conversion, not inc the block. Mines going else where but its just becuase scoobyclinic uses a different machinist and its being done through them.
  2. not really, when you look at the head end its not so open, if that makes sence lol the biggest improvement is the restraining of the top of the liner/bore
  3. Track work is very different to road work, temps, pressures etc etc are all a massive step up. The bores/liners on the 2.5 are not very strong when compared to the 2.0 and being open deck they are prone to flex, ovaling and splitting. this is my 2.5 block being preped for machining and then converting to closed deck, compare the bores to this, Also the head stud location isn't ideal. As said mine is being converted to closed deck, It still has the same bore and wall thicknes, but is stronger due to the conversion. There are also alot of other considerations to consider as mentioned, heat is a big biog issue on subaru's when drive hard, oil temps can easily take out an engine. Zen found this out when they cooked their engine in japan time attack the first year over there), that was a purpose built engine and it still fried itself due to 130 degree oil temps. If your serious about using it on the ring regularly then i suggest you find a tuners whos well versed with race cars and speak to them about best route. Bear in in mind it wont be cheap
  4. welcome :D a scoob is a scoob, turbo or no turbo :D
  5. hopefully it will survive
  6. If your gonna be tracking it i would seriously consider going down the 2.1 closed deck block route and supporting mods, fuel system (swirl pot) oil cooler, front mount, syvecs etc etc
  7. 2.5 is not good for track, too fragile :(
  8. Wow, would not be my choice of car for regular track use thats for sure.
  9. before you start driving it too hard get it on a dyno to confirm AFR is ok
  10. hahaha :D
  11. looking good mate, i see you have gone for the subtle colour of wheel choice,,,, hahaha
  12. 1997 wrx ra http://www.type-ra.com/subaru-impreza-my97-wrx-type-ra/ rarer than the STI but lower spec, so depends on how you value it, rarity or spec? 3-3.5k i would have said
  13. Welcome, In case you didn't know they do an STI version of the forrester ;)
  14. Have you checked the fluid level as a starting point? Not sure if the 5 speed box's are the same as int he hawk but if so they are pretty bullet proof and theres a few cars running 450 on em without issue
  15. cheers folks :) I hit the limit on pictures or i would have put more lol hahaha Turbo will be summit small and cheap to start with, if the standard one turns out to be ok that may go back on. If not will be summit like a second hand v35. Gearbox won't take much more than that so no point in giving it the full welly. Also gonna need alot of supporting mods to get there, fuel system inc swirl pot setup, injectors, front mount, oil cooler etc etc etc its a big list hahaha Eventualy dunno, maybe one of the new sc46+'s that seem to be nearing 500, or rotate gt30/35, block will be good for high 500's but wanna keep lag to a minimum, given the gearing and weight 450 it will be seriously rapid, 550 will been hooligan style hahaha :D Wanna keep it on pump gas so that may dictate what turbo setup it is. time frame is still up in the air, prob gonna be away at machine shop being converted for 10 days depending on how busy they are. Mark's still got his cast on so not up to full speed yet and he's got two or 3 others before mine. Takes roughly 1-2 weeks to build one so 4-6 weeks, so pssibly 6 weeks to start, 8 weeks for it to be backj in car and ready to run in. In no hurry so time will tell.
  16. http://www.type-ra.com/what-model-is-my-impreza/
  17. rear arch rust, as above check the vin number to comfirm it is a STI RA, there are WRX RA's and also V limited versions
  18. Standard excede would be my choice then, or the slight upgrde one. NO realy point in throwing lots of money at it if your not gonna use it
  19. to be fair you can pick up plenty of them on ebay, just in different material. were in civic type r, evo etc http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Honda-Civic-Type-R-Recaro-Premier-Seats-Door-Cards-Carpet-/251998172084?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item3aac42f3b4
  20. what power you running?
  21. yeah the full pack was stupid money, interior option was 2k :o but o my the seats were comfy hahaha always someone tyring it on
  22. yeah they did the packages, but the PPP refers to the engine only bit, the others were alot less advertised. My old calssic had the prodrive recaro's/interior option
