  1. tbh i think its more on the car itself, personally I'd prob lean older lower milage, but its really pot luck.
  2. try importcarparts
  3. Sounds like a boost control issue, best bet would be to get it to a specialist to have a look and diagnose.
  4. def worth finding out the condition of it to see, now adays a decent ra shell is worth rebuilding, although not cheap, so prob find someone would takje it off your hands
  5. have you checked out the throttle position sensor? what spark plugs went in it? Has it got fresh fuel in it? have you done an ecu reset?
  6. do you mean 95? def get some pics up though as it will help price. has it be dry stored? (in 15 years rust could have done alot of damage) What condition was it in mechanically when it was stored? was it stored in direct sunlight?
  7. i cant imagine theres many at all, if you know the cost of purchase is aus, import cost and cost to register etc it here, could use that as the value in a pinch.
  8. Yeah, they dont mess about building em haha, gets test assembled to check clearances etc about 5 times, as you can see its all measured and checked before assembly, takes mark about a week to assemble, its the identical spec as my impreza even down to the closed deck conversion. See that's where i don't have an issue,,,,,, its the wife's car hahaha
  9. Good to hear it going strong. Built well they are very reliable (even the 2.5 lol). Built badly and yikes, It's also normally when you push em hard they loose that reliability, pushing 500bhp isnt gonna do 100k miles without at least loosing some of that power
  10. Great cars, very reliable when the extra load added to the car from the turbo isn't there, sadly the impreza gets its performance from being turbo charged so not alot of options to improve performance in any noticeable way. Best bet would be enjoy it for a bit, then if you want a step up in performance look at getting a wrx or sti
  11. There ya go, enjoy :)
  12. So then we end up at the fun bit :) Give the spec the end result is pretty epic :) spool is mega :)
  13. Then some additional ones, inc turbo, injector testing, coil packs, engine going back in
  14. time to find out pic limit, hahaha So the starting point
  15. Usual suspects, try a few forums, pistonheads, could try FB but theres alot of scammers etc on there
  16. I've got a fair few i was sent, i'll dig em out and get em up
  17. Good luck hopefully its not too bad.
  18. Its becoming very common and its not gonna be cheap. They rust from the inside out so you wont know till theres serious damage/rusted through. I would expect the bill to be well over £1000+ per side im afraid, and exactly how much you wont know till the strip it and possibly take the outer panel off to see how extensive it is. It's one of those things thats borderline car scrapping territory :( really depends on how good is the rest of the car? (if one sides gone then its prob very similar the other and what are the arches like?). So really depends on how much you want to throw at it.
  19. tbh going dark that long i suspect the writings on the wall.
  20. Realised i never updated this haha So engine was built, run in and mapped, ran 446bhp 415ftlb, goes pretty well :D
  21. welcome, tbh you've picked up the biggest concerns, afraid its one of those that might or might not happen and not alot you can do about it. All 2.5's suffer from it sadly, even imports. I did a fairly long (didnt plan too haha) reply to another thread and alot of it crosses over, while parts are slightly different the same principles are the same across all the subaru platforms. Forester STI's are all imports don't forget.
  22. as steve says, there's actually 2, the sock on the fuel pump then a canister in the engine bay. I think its one of these, https://www.onlinecarparts.co.uk/spare-parts/subaru/fuel-filter/forester-sj.html
  23. alot will depend on budget, i've got mega upgraded disks and pads with the standard sti calipers that came on the car, but given your going from basic 4 pots tbh you could do alot worse than a set of AP's, not cheap, but as good as it gets. Other upgrades are of course a set of sti brembo's, however they have wheel clearance issues so would prob need to change the wheels as well. Depending on wheel sizes/offsets you'll need to check fitment, iirc 330mm is about as big a disk you can get under a set of 17's.
