  1. Hi Dug, can you drop me an email on [email protected] for those weather tech mats?
  2. Purchased it on amazon, no idea whether it came from a forester originally.
  3. Small but useful addition. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Driving 80m a day with a 2012 XV, no issues whatsoever Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Thanks, will test it next time it goes off :)
  6. Hi, My car alarm went off the other day (I opened the door with the key vs remote unlock, to test it) and I didn't know how to shut off the alarm. I have the code, know where to enter the code but that's it. The supplied manual (looks like a subaru stock alarm system was build into my XV) isn't much help as it doesn't describe how to shut off the alarm in case it goes off (really silly). I managed to turn off the alarm by exiting the car, closing it using the remote and reopen it with the remote. There has to be more sophisticated way not? Anybody ideas?
  7. Never had it, but it sounds similar to the low oil warning yet all is fine. Gremlins...
  8. Merry Christmas to all XV owners and may we spend many miles without troubles in our cars! I am spending it with family in the north east USA and guess what? Every 6th car here is a Subaru!
  9. About £300 for the parts (disc plus pads), £100 for labour and tax. And I thought Audi parts were expensive.... Oh well, better not save on brakes right.
  10. Front brakes replaced. 65K, not too bad. Ouch (cost) but better get them done before winter really sets in.
  11. According to my dealer, 5W30 is recommended for UK diesel Subaru's.
  12. Way too much for a piece of plastic and some foam. £40 and some pennies.....
  13. Yes, I think you are on to something as it happened to me whilst driving very short distances (the engine was not heated up fully yet). At the dealer, they did not find any faults and could not explain this error. As long as the oil levels are OK (by manual measurement), I guess there is no great danger, but it does annoy me nevertheless. Maybe we should write to Subaru UK about this?
  14. Got my 60k service done and, like Swayze88, my scoob was also topped up with 5W30 as well. When asked why, it seems a way to keep costs (or profit.....) in check. Not too happy with this of course and left with a grumpy feeling. Until I drove away and noticed a huge improvement in overall performance and steering which made the grumpy feeling pass away.
  15. I know what I want this X-Mas :-). That rear spoiler is awesome!!
  16. They should use 0W-30!!!! I double checked (see photo) that 5W-30 may be used for replenishment...
  17. Thanks everybody for the comments, it is a bit of a relief to know that it's something common (unfortunately). I am bringing the XV for a service this weekend (62K) and have pointed out the flaw to the dealer. A faulty sensor would make sense and I will update you with any findings.
  18. Definitely the oil level light. It went off today after driving 10m, stopping the engine and then turning it on again. Checked oil levels again this evening and they are 100% OK. The only thing that I can think off is that the engine wasn't warm when the light came on and I didn't drive 10-15 to warm it up (went for fuel). When I check the oil levels on a cold engine, oil levels are really low. My thought is that my oil level sensor has a bug and thinks sometimes the oil level is low but forgets the engine is still warming up? Not sure as this makes any sense, but will discuss this with the dealer this week.
  19. Hi, got a low oil light on the dash but oil levels are fine. Any thoughts? Bringing it in for a service in anyway, but curious whether anybody else experienced this.
  20. I changed my driving style considerably after my clutch went @47-49K. In neutral indeed at the lights now and taking care when going uphill (especially when behind a slow tractor). My old Vauxhall (yes, the shame... :)) did nearly 150K on the original clutch.
  21. Air filter change (OEM) & motor blower cover today; engine running definitely smoother (idle especially) & less tendency to stall especially at low gears. Cabin also less noisy.
  22. Full auto here, all the time on. I was also told to leave it on or use it regularly. I didn't do it with my previous car which resulted a broken Airco (and of course, it was summer...), learned my lesson. Haven't paid attention to mpg between full auto and manual, will have a look
  23. Finally got the cover from the dealer, installation was super easy, just a few pins and presto! I didn't do a scientific measurement, but I do notice a slight reduction in cabin noise. Can definitely recommend it. Weird that Subaru left it out when launching the car in 2012, it makes a lot of sense
  24. Had look at the good 'ol air filter today. Or should I say bug filter.... Up for replacement!
  25. Impressive! This just shows the importance of oil in our XVs indeed. Do you believe the change in air filter has contributed as well? You mentioned swapping it for a K&N filter, I wonder whether these are better than the stock Subaru.
