  1. WTF, guys, do you happen to have an extra horse in front of your cars pulling it? :D
  2. I dealt with Collindale VW before, they are as evil as it can be (not the ladies in the reception, but guys in the garage). With Kingham Subaru, I give them a chance, as their reason for using their own oil is that I might bring some out of spec oil and void the warranty which is understandable. But the lady on the phone said to bring the oil in, and I am sure the chaps in the garage will recognize it as in spec oil and there shouldn't be any issues. Afterall 5W-40 is mentioned in manual as secondary option if 5W-30 is not available. Also, note, that this dealer paid my first year tax for the car, which is £900+. I only paid actual car price and that's it :) On the same subject, I take it, oil filter needs changing as well?
  3. Thanks. Dealer was reluctant of me bringing my own oil, but said to bring it anyways :D
  4. Sorry, to continue this off topic conversation, but what are the thoughts on Castro Edge Titanium 5w-40 oil? It will be either this or whatever dealer puts in(which will be most likely 5w-30 stock one). Thanks :)
  5. Thanks, i will keep it in mind ;) Talking about boost, couple of day ago I got a pure kick to my back from turbo. I've been into boost before with that car, but that time it was different. I even thought I got more than 1.10 boost out of it, but I didn't. Love it.
  6. Oh, and something came in today: Will try the bespokiness (I know I know its not a word :D ) this weekend. http://www.coveryourcar.co.uk/ contacting them is easy. Replies straight away. Keep it up ;)
  7. You read my mind. Lips will be coming and rear diffuser is planned as well. Lip will be OEM one, and diffuser will be HT Autos. Will have to find someone to paint it blue. Instagram community is giving me some awesome ideas ;) Americans have it easy, plenty of places to find something to buy, not like us, shipping across the pond :( Upon further googling I see HT Autos has UK website. Very nice, and that front lip does not drop too low as well, just brings front spoiler forward. Very nice. Thanks I had a short list of plans done in drivetribe website. My plan is as mentioned above lip, diffuser also sideskirts. Wheels (Advan or Wedssport SA-55M if I can find anyone who will import them and dress them with tyres, or BBS/Rota), exhaust, most likely ETS burnt tips with mufflers. Air filter (perrin or HKS). Found a guy who does most awesome badges for Subarus in US, will get something epic done by him for the front. Taillights from subispeed, unless they are incompatible or if I don't like how the blown bulbs are being swapped in them. Mudflaps, not because its popular, but because upon further inspection found a lot of mud collected on wheel arches, which I do not like any bit at all. Perrin shift stop and some heavier shift knob (again found a company in US who do some epic knobs). Would love to wrap a bonnet and the roof. Was thinking going full !Removed! with carbon fibre bonnet, but I don't cr*p money by the looks of it, so wrap will do fine :D Have some plastidip for side mirrors. Just need perfect conditions outside to spray them. Also will continue de-chroming various bits and bobs. Now looking for some suggestions on how to black out the silver bits around centre console vents. Side vents I have them swapped as seen in the pictures further up, but centre console one cannot be swapped as far as I see. Also, whats the deal with front side window tinting in UK, where is the legal limit? And are they putting the vinyl inside of the glass or on outside? If its on outside, then it will get scratched very easily from dust at work :( Please note, that 2017 STIs come with tinted back side windows already ;) So yeah, these are my plans for next yeah. Good thing is, next year I have no plans on any traveling holidays planned, so don't need to save up for anything, like at the moment, I'm tied up, as I am going abroad for 3 weeks during xmas.
  8. Whatever my personal needs might be, I am all for whatever Subaru is doing, as it seems it is very good strategy. They are posting increasing profit every year since 2011. We want them to keep going and bringing STIs to us. Look at Mitsubishi :( And yes, having a model which is very rare is pleasing to me especially as a person I do not like everything what is popular around me :D
  9. An accidental find on google maps :) Its in Kent, I think. Here is the url to the maps coords: https://goo.gl/maps/YQcKFtGUZws best time to visit is mornings before June and after September. Or if you want to visit windmill as well, then during summer. But I guess during summer you won't be able to take pictures of your car freely, as there will be plenty of people parked around.
  10. What we learned during the spraying exercise: cover everything in engine bay, leave no gaps, underside of the bonnet as well. Spray goes everywhere especially if it is windy. In my case it wasn't but still got overspray in quite a few places. Also that weekend changed wheel nuts to some black ones with specific protection groves. Before: And after: And for the record, I did go sideways in this parking lot during that mad freezing period: Its rubber surface, give some frost on top of it, and you have skating rink with multiple lawsuites waiting to happen. Car felt composed even on summer Dunlops.
  11. Seems that Subaru Tribe Int'l. reached the boost, and now it is visible for public. 147 members now. I guess Subaru owners look after each other everywhere ;)
  12. Hm, "I" mode gave me 0.96 bars of boost, but sport sharp recorded 1.10bar only. I'm not complaining as it really feels like a pure beast in Sharp mode. Though on the other hand, I never floored it yet. And throttle response in Sport Sharp compared to "I" mode is like day and night. All this rubber feeling is gone from the pedal :D Also while I'm at it, what would be the best oil for 2017 STI after 1k miles? I'm at 1.2k now, and next week I'm off for some holidays, will probably call the dealer to change oil.
  13. For me there was no initial financial hit :) I paid just for the car. Dealer paid for tax and the rest of the stuff :) And UK Subaru does have a small catalog with optional extras. Though it is not as extensive as other markets. But there is still quite a few options. The reason UK Subaru does not offer same options as lets say US market is because there is no market in UK for high performance Subarus. In 2 months I only saw another person with Subi like mine once few days ago in London. And from this forum I count 4-5 of you guys having one around UK. While US market is booming with everyone getting WRXs and STIs left right and centre. That's why UK never got WRX as well. No market. And I wouldn't blame anyone for not going STI in UK. Horrible roads, stupid road tax levels, over the roof petrol prices, and obviously everyone is crazed out for Fords :D And I'm with you on ordering the car just for yourself :)
  14. Guys, I don't know if you can read this: https://drivetribehelp.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/211822905-Somethings-changed-with-the-tribe-going-public-?page=1 but I'm done with that idea. Basically they increased the tribesmen number to 20 in order for tribe to go public. They are saying they want to keep content quality. Yeah clueless and idiotic supercarsoflondon and friends is now considered quality content :/ Sorry for wasting your time guys, but have no desire to chase moving goal posts where "rich" get "richer" and "poor" get "poorer". I'm sure the tribe would grow very fast once it went public, but if I can't get it out into the masses, I have no chance.
  15. Thanks. Just in the middle of the scrapped 'project': wrapping the mirrors is PITA :( plastidip it is. Putting in reverse is extremely smooth. And overall notchiness I don't mind and even like. But it grinds my gears when car grinds it's own. The notchiness is kinda smooth, but when it grinds it feels metal to metal which obviously it is :) Either way, today had little fun on frosted rubber 'tarmac'. Went sideways, freaked out my passenger and couple of young lads in Corsas :D Pardon me now, off to paint the intercooler :D
  16. Don't hesitate to post something on there. Need one more post from anyone but me ;)
  17. Unfortunately :( I wasn't happy about it as well. We are pinging them about this right now, but it seems they live in some lala land where facebook is proof of your accountability on internet :/
  18. Guys/girls, here is 24 hour access code for drive tribe: 906488GTB it can be used by anyone. Hope it works :)
  19. Great write ups guys. Welcome to the club :) I'm IT guru myself and have not found any use of any Starlink app features. I would suggest forgetting it and just enjoy the other soundtrack in the car ;) I'm a music buff myself, and in previous car I used to have music all the way up. With STI, I just set DAB to Chill Radio station and enjoy the rumble :) And yes 'on rails' comments are completely on point. I'm always smiling on roundabouts, where my Scirocco used to lean sideways, and STI just laughs it off and just goes :) Love it ;) Waving thing is pleasant surprise as well. Only met one Subaru owner who did not wave, but as I say: On the road we have a lot of other things to concentrate to, so if someone doesn't wave no need to be upset.
  20. Joined the ranks of hashtagging world(of which I'm not proud). muziqaz_sti if anyone is interested ;) I'm not there for follows and what not, just need some inspiration and there is plenty from brotherhood across the pond :D
  21. Sorry guys been slacking. Quite a few things happened during recent days. So first off, scary moment: Scratch at work. Its hard to see but it continues through my colleagues boot reflection and goes to wheel reflection. Freaked out, gave a call to Kinghams Subaru, Keith (the owner) told me to drop by. Went up there straight away. Mike comes out with the cloth and some substance, does some magic for 10 minutes and the result is: Was looking at it for solid 5 minutes from all angles. Nothing. He then applied some of that LifeShine and let me wander around the dealership and here is what I found: Have no idea how much they wanted for that WRX, but it was sold. What a beauty :) Also while I was there I noticed this: Anyone would like 2017 brand new STI? :) The guys who bought it, lost his driving license for couple of years just several days before pick up :( so dealer is now stuck with this beast. And what a difference car detailing does :D I almost want to sell mine and buy this one :D :D :D :D I kid I kid, just don't tell this to my car :D And if anyone decides to buy it, mention name Tomas to Keith (the owner) or Mike, I will buy beers ;) Also had a chance to test my brakes unwillingly and due to my stupidity. Brakes work great, car stops extremely quickly, there was some wheel skidding, ABS engagement and some noises. Decided to overtake a bus, while ignoring the car in front of me who decided to be a good guys and let the bus go, so while I was accelerating, he slammed on the brakes. If this happened with Scirocco, I would be calling my insurance company and not driving an STI next but some Peugeot. The rest of the journey home I was patting the dashboard of the car and thanking it :D Also, clocked 1000miles few days ago. Took me 2 months of mostly London traffic driving :) Now according to car manual, my engine is broken in. Sports Sharp mode, here I come :P :D This weekend will be changing the wheel nuts into black ones: And if weather permits: Will decorate the intercooler for xmas :D Older Impreza STIs used to come with marking from factory, weren't they? And for the conclusion, bit of the cockpit :) Need better camera. Nexus 5X doesn't cut it anymore. Oh, one more thing: gear grinding. I'm getting quite a bit of it while cold. from 1st to 2nd and from 2nd to 3rd. Grinding is very short and very random. Seems to grind mostly when I drive for a bit longer in 1st in traffic. Very hard to work out what I am actually doing to make them grind. Though after some time when car warms up, grinding either is gone or almost never happens. Internetz is reporting that quite a lot of people have this with WRXs and STIs
  22. Yes, smell is here as well on my 2017 STI. But it is seldom, usually when I step on the gas. But as I said it happens once a week or so. Also I'm in London, might be other cars as well :D I don't pay much attention to it, as it goes away quite quickly. The only better thing about Type R against STI is the clutch, but everything else is on STI favour (I don't mention MPGs in performance car comparison, smiles per gallon). When you are inside STI you know that you are in a car and not in some luxury boat. You can hear and feel everything car does, love it ;) Also, if you haven't bought that white 2016 model, give a call to Kinghams Subaru in Croydon, London, they have 2017 model in blue waiting for lucky owner :) Brand new, zero miles. If you do decide to go for the blue one, mention Tomas to Keith ;) I'll buy you a beer :D :D
  23. LET'S CREATE SOMETHING THAT BRINGS THE BEST OF YOUTUBE, FACEBOOK, WORDPRESS, AND OTHER CONTENT SHARING SITES TOGETHER IN THE ONE PLACE AND MAKE THIS THE BEST CAR ENTHUSIAST FORUM ON THE WEB! This is copy/paste from one of the creators. Sorry for caps ;)
  24. This is epic :D I had forgotten about that. Might rewatch it :D Anyways, drivetribe is launching 28th, so if before then I don't receive any invitations, 28th is the date. On the other hand I think I might use this picture as tribe's photo :D
  25. At some point I will receive a bunch of invitation codes which I can give out. If not, it launches 28th of this month, so then it will be open for public ;)
