  1. Well this weekend was my first weekend driving a Subaru and as I have only been driving around in small hatchbacks I must say it's a big change! Obviously the biggest change is the way the power is delivered... kind of like "coming... coming... coming... HERE" and it's certainly got it's charm.

So basically seeing as I am new to the car, some tips would be welcome, such as how to set off in a hurry. At the moment it takes me a bit to get to 20mph as I don't want to do something wrong.

    So far I know:

    - Warm the car up before driving and warm it down before switching off

    - Run on Ultimate unleaded which I have so far put 1 full tank in

Also is there anything that is frowned upon?

    Many thanks in advance!

yep, driving with your fog lights on!!

  2. the 'camera club' I'm in have set a project to do a selfie picture including something that your interested in (so for me I'll do my car in my selfie pic)

so, off camera triggered flash on the centre console, camera on tripod with a HD filter to stop glare bounce back off windscreen Manual mode on camera nd manual focus too. aperture  f:2.8 ISO100 shutter speed 1/100.

Not easy as I had to do a 10sec shutter timer, to give me change to get in the car. the had to check to see if I was in focus. Even though I'd got the STi logo in focus on the seat, when I got in my head/face was a little bit in front of the focus point of the STi logo :(

the last picture of the night nailed it and I came in lol

slight miss focus on face but recovered by doing in B&W ;)

the last shot, I was more than happy with... apart from the subject matter was no George Clooney... more Martin Clunes ;)

without the muppet in the front seat... ;)

    Hi,

heres an example of what happens when using poor fuel..................

    Can you see it ??

    DSC02823_zpsfdc812e2.jpg

You can now, that’s what’s called a ring land failure and is due to detonation caused by poor quality fuel, eventually the broken bit rattles around, wearing the bore with debris until the engine is beyond repair, signs of this already show on the piston skirt.

The images shown are a piston from a 2.5 STI hatch that the owner admitted to running on 95 and sometimes 97 octane fuel, food for thought ......

    cheers

  4. I had a spare thirty minutes ;)  this afternoon so I spent it finishing off Da Polishing the rest of my car (I did the bonnet last night) with the Menz2400 and 4500, then applied the Angelwax DRIFT. Finished off the wrap roof with Autofinesse' Finale detail spray (as it contains no wax/silicone in it)

  5. going to do a bit at a time on the scoob with the Da Polisher.

so tonight I started on just the bonnet.

DA Daz6 Pro polisher and polished it with Menz 2400 cream using orange HEX pad, then used the 4500 with the black HEX, after both applications I polished off with micro fibre clothes.

THEN.. I finished with applying my ANGLEWAX DRIFT wax that is designed for white cars :)

I have to say, my body work is smooth anyway, but had the usual swirls. Now I have next to non on the bonnet.. just a few I can see close up on the plastic scoop. When I look across the wing and the bonnet, I do see lots on the un polished wing. So I'm well pleased.

Bonnet took about an hour or so to DA, then another 30-40 mins to apply and buff off the DRIFT :)

    applying the drift...

I buffed off with a micro fibre cloth, then went over it again with a micro fibre noodle mit :)

great results, not that you can tell off a camera phone lol :(

  6. If it's got fsh then surely there will be something relating to the damage and what had to be repaired, a good starter for making your own decisions before a full inspection. I had a CAT C once and it wasn't till I had the wheels aligned after lowering I discovered it had a mahoosive thrust angle and was effectively crabbing down the road. Just something for you to bare in mind

    Hence the Cat C ;)

  7. finally allowed to get on my wheels this weekend, so Saturday I finished off rubbing the last three alloys down and today I taped up and sprayed them in the white matt finish ready to apply the top coats of florescent orange..... next weekend ;)

coverage of this stuff is excellent, I've got it to cover in one go. The beauty of this graffiti paint is it's ability to cover.

    IMG_6786_zps7ad5f3b7.jpg

We'll have to see how it dries before I put the finish coats of Matt Florescent Orange on.

My though is this graffiti artist paint will go on any surface, is fast drying and should come off and you always hear the council and train companies saying how hard it is to remove

I won't put putting as much on the inside part of the rim as opposed to the main face of the alloy.

At £3.30 a can I'm not going to worry if I need another rattle can though ;)

  8. Angelwax is specialist and not what you'd find at Halfords or The General car shows. I first saw it at waxstock last year at Peterborough show ground. All the top wax companies were there. I bought their billberry alloy cleaner. 5litres of consentrate solution was about 15 pounds. I dilute about an inch in a litre bottle. Works well and lasts ages.

  9. FINISHED!!! done the bumper and boot tonight, along with cleaning the roof wrap with AutoFinesse detailing spray (that has no silicone in it so it leave it a flat finish), I also went over the glass with it too. Good results in my eyes.

Just a shame I photo'd the car this evening and couldn't see if I was in focus or not lol

    Enjoy ;)waxd-7_zps6d240b47.jpg

I've been pleased how the AngelWax 'DRIFT' has left my white car. As said not the easiest to polish off but once you get into it you can feel the finish is like no other I've used before. I also can recommend the AutoFinesse for the wrap'd roof too.

  10. Good paint that can't beleive they sell it so cheap. Have you used any of it yet ? It will prob be quite thick, did you get any extra caps for different flow rates and what not ?

the girl there also said if you want to put a clear lacquer over it used normal car spray paint stuff. As their graffiti paint is acrylic based (like most car spray paints now). But she said there's no need.

I won't bother for now and will see how it hold up, not a big thing to whip them over if they mark too easily over winter ;)

  11. I've started....

A shop in Nottm that sells Graffiti Spray paint in 400ml cans at only £3.30 a can.. they do Florescent Orange. I asked the guy if its ok for alloy wheels and he said it sticks to anything so alloys should be a problem, he went onto say ppl buy off him and spray their whole car!

Will be interesting how this paint is, with it being fast drying and Matt finish it should look good on my white car.

So I bought some of the white base coat...

Then picked up some of these...

    1382137_10201611448601708_186951993_n.jp

and started rubbing my blue wheels down today.. only managed one before it started raining lol

    996658_10201619300518001_1206250445_n.jp

once all wheels are rubbed down I'll start spraying. :P
