stainless exhausts
cool, i didn't know if i could just remove the lower cat or are they sequentially in the same pipe ? and replace the two back sections. my mazda was old enough it only had to have a basic emmissions test so full manifold and a single silenced stainless mazdaspeed item was on it. sounded great, best when aproaching 5k and above allways ran too rich. i'm only getting a few mpg less now than i was driving that. :) so really my options are full decat. stainless system and bribe mot man. highflow cat downpipe and the rest of it (any problems with this ?) keep cats standard and just do he two back sections

With the clay do you use an aplicator spray or just water ? I've been using the billet & hamber medium clay with water in a spray gun as somone tlld me ut works just as well and the sprays you can get with other branded clays are a but of a con ? Once the weather's decided to stay dry, i'm going to gve the forester a proper go over previous owner didn't really do muchbi in the way of good cleaning :-(

Forest XT 4th Gen - Spare Wheel!
sorry i can't be of any help with not having a new model but my spare wheel well looks like it's big enough to accommodate a full size wheel but it's not, the rim is 16 inch on the space saver, and the depth looks nearly a foot in the well but the size and width of the space saver Tyre is tiny. (i was quite bored at work last night) i reckon if i deflated a normal wheel it would go in but what's the point in that, do you have a plastic cover on top of the space saver then the carpet hatch ?

removing the tow bar
Miggs, thanks for the offer, i have a compressor and gun but the thought of using it never crossed my mind, maybe i like the punishmet of hard graft more ? Closer inspection it's in 4 parts, two backets a long cross member thing and the bally bit. To be fair the 1st nuts came off ok with a 2ft long half inch drive bar and a healthy spray of plus gas, I know once i've removed it i'l miss a golden opportunity to make some money freeing people from the car parks at the festival. Can't wait to waft past everyone stuck haha
-
removing the tow bar
The chap who i bought it off said it's got a bar on but never been used for towing, shame about the caravan club sticker in the front and the spring spacer/supports for towing a caravan that are fitted. With the privicy glass and bar i either look a drug dealing caravan enthuisast or i'm having a midlife crisis

removing the tow bar
I've started the weight reduction programme (not that it will make a blind bit of difference) it looked poo and was doing my head in. The more i poked around the more i found i could remove. Initally i've just taken the sticky out bit with the ball on, but it looks like the rest of it's bolted onto the rear box section. And not welded is i assumed. Does anyone know if the bar is bolted on using captive nuts like it looks like ? I don't wanna get half way through removing it and have to resort to cutting it off

cambelt change
I know mate, i allways get them done when i get a new car just to be on the safe side. The thing that put me off was the amount the dealer quoted me. I only asked them as a guide price ! Still it's all good now. I've seen some horrible engine disasters due to belts failing so know a couple hundred quid spent now is money well spent. Last car had a none interference belt so i've been living in that comfort zone for bit

cambelt change
It's ok i'll be in disguise. 3 1/2 hours in meadowhall followed by 3 hours in the pub nursing a beer was plenty of time to craft a very elegant bin rading outfit ! Like you say, next couple of sercices will be fairly minor so it was good to get it all out the way before the stork comes and consumes all my money. I'm trying to not get carried away with the mods though i spent a small fortune on the last car

cambelt change
All done, service belts tensioners etc :) typically the belt looked fine. The oils and spark plugs were a different kettle of fish. Whoever serviced the car last time only replaced two plugs and the gearbox/diffs hadn't been touched for long time. still at least everything's done and looking good for mot :) one less thing to do. Let the mild mods begin

cambelt change
No offence but i'm down with saving the earth, but i at least want to look good on crimewatch. Binbags are sooo last season O:-)

cambelt change
i know it's just the pain in the wallet,i suppose it's better than an engine rebuild :o anyone know how to knit a balaclava ?

cambelt change
Can someone give me the interval schedule for cambelt changes on foresters ? Car going in for a major service tomorrow and am uming and ahing about doing the belt mainly cos i've no idea what state it's in or how old it is, and there is virtually no service history, the chap at the garage who i bought it from says it's got about 20k left before change. i've been quoted £170 for just the belt doing and £400 for all the idlers and tensionsers too, on top of the major service it's having i'm gonna be broke, i can just about do the belt and service but my heart says skint yourself for piece of mind and get it all done, so 1, do service and any other little bits that may be spotted, trust sleller 2, do service and belt, 3,f**k it and do everything live off pot noodles for the month ! opinions please

What sort of battery do i need
Ah haaah (said in a partridge stylee) sorry i'm technically on holiday so was trawling round the interwebs anyway looking at cambelt info :(
-
What sort of battery do i need
hopefully something along the lines of this spec Voltage : 12v Ampere-Hour Capacity at 20hr rate Ah: 60Ah Cold Cranking Performance (Amps) SAE/EN1: 390 Dimentions LxWxH: 230mm x 173mm x 222mm Terminal Layout: Negative (-) on left, Positive (+) on right; with the terminals on the edge of the battery closest to you as long as you get the same capacity and enough to crank it you should be laughing, (don;t hold me to this i'm no spark) i have some ghetto brand battery in mine at the moment, but a friend has a vitara in his legacy and it is a little smaller but he assures me it's the same rating, a new one looks to be around a ton so maybe the scrappy to start, i wouldn't bother with jap cars with a battery in the boot, normally a gellmat construction, lower rated and a ball ache as you can't bump/jump as it kills the battery for good and you have to give them a 3 day charger or something daft from flat to condition, may not be much help but who knows, !

stainless exhausts
To be fair i was just using them as a top line price, i wouldn't know what to pay as the prices vary wildly and was hoping to get some feedback on what others may have fitted. Would i be wasting my money on a 2 parts that came in cheaper ? Is it a case of you get what you pay for and what not : )

stainless exhausts
I appear to have the most un modded import ever, looks like it's never been touched even the wind deflectors were added here, ? the exhaust will need doing at some point in the next 12 months so i'm looking for help on types/makes, there seem to be many out there with varying costs, there don't seem to be that many listed specifically for foresters so will classic impreza ones fit ? i'll be looking for 2 parts i guess from the cat back to start with, the heywood & scott ones look v nice and also v pricey but have them listed for foresters, where as some of the other sites i could get a middle and back for nearly the same cost as the back form them, scooby bits do some reasonable looking parts for reasonable prices but will they fit ? i'm not really looking for big power gains or excessively loud, so i guess the smaller diameter pipes will work best ? and if i just add the two sections and a panel filter i take it the ecu will be able to work fine without any tinkering ? cheers

Power/Revs Pulsing
Check all your jubalee clips on your hoses from intake and airbox are done up tight and the airbox its self is airtight. Could be air seeping out somewhere and it's trying to compensate for it
