Manners0485 Posted October 20, 2014 Author Posted October 20, 2014 Cheers Scooby Pete. Yeah mate It happens when Im coming off the accelerator. Tried testing it on my way home from work to see if the tracking an tyres being swapped around have made it any better, but it's dry today so couldn't really tell as it's been fairly ok in the dry anyway. Still making me nervous on the roundabouts though.
Manners0485 Posted October 21, 2014 Author Posted October 21, 2014 Sorry Stants I overlooked your post from yday by mistake, sorry to be a dumbass but was does oem mean? When I bought the car it came with 17" rims and 245/45 wheels on it. I let a bit of air out of the tyres yday so the back are around 29-30psi and the front are around 32-35psi.
stants Posted October 21, 2014 Posted October 21, 2014 No worries, basically ome equates yo how it came from the factory. Did it come with 16" or 17" rims as standard Do you have a sticker like this inside drivers door ? Tells you what size rims with which combination of tyres you can put on the car. Have a peek and see what it references with what you've got on
JusNoGood Posted October 21, 2014 Posted October 21, 2014 My 2004 WRX has 214/45 R17 as standard. I did have a bug GX and that had 16's. Can't remember the other dimensions I've heard of people putting 225's on and R18 on a WRX but not 245's....and certainly not on a GX
Scooby Pete Posted October 21, 2014 Posted October 21, 2014 To be honest if you are losing it in the damp/wet on roundabouts, I'd be more inclined to say it's down to the right foot (hooning it) than the tyres :p
Manners0485 Posted October 21, 2014 Author Posted October 21, 2014 Cheers guys sorry didn't get back sooner, (late shifts this week I'm afraid) Stants the sticker on the inside of the door gives advice for 15" rims. I'm assuming this was was probably the original size rims that were on the car from the factory before these 17s were put on it?
Manners0485 Posted October 21, 2014 Author Posted October 21, 2014 Cheers JusNoGood I'm kinda thinking the wrong tyres have been put on at some point. Might have to get 4 new ones next payday. I did notice a better hold and handling on the road on the way home from work after having the tracking done but still not convinced the problems been solved.
Manners0485 Posted October 30, 2014 Author Posted October 30, 2014 Been informed by another garage (a trusted one) that the wheels are too wide for the car. Hopefully once I get this sorted will rectify everything. 1
KG Tuning Posted October 31, 2014 Posted October 31, 2014 The back end of most unmodded Imprezas is quite skittish at slower speeds when turning in tight and apparently the car just as a natural knack of wanting to step out left. Mine certainly handled crud before I spent a fortune on handling goodies. Even now though the back slightly tries to slide left coming on boost.
Manners0485 Posted October 31, 2014 Author Posted October 31, 2014 Cheers Buddy, I've just bought some lowering springs to drop it 35mm and lookin at getting 4 new tyres soon aswell. Have you got any advice on anythin else I could do to improve it preferably without breaking the bank?
Manners0485 Posted October 31, 2014 Author Posted October 31, 2014 Gonna go with Falken ze914's all round I think (215/45) and lower it 35mm. Can anyone add any advice on anythin else that's worth doing?
stants Posted October 31, 2014 Posted October 31, 2014 Thicker anti roll bar with mount and droplinks if your budget allows
Manners0485 Posted October 31, 2014 Author Posted October 31, 2014 Any ideas how much and where I can get a thicker anti roll bar with mount an drop links from?
Manners0485 Posted October 31, 2014 Author Posted October 31, 2014 Anti lift kit sounds interesting. I'll have a look around now. Haven't got a massive budget but willing to spend a bit.
stants Posted October 31, 2014 Posted October 31, 2014 Have a look at the whitleine stuff just google it as everywhere sells it
Rick 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 Best place to start is them wheels I thought something wasn't right about the tyres there to wide.Id still look for the std Subaru rims though
Rick 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 Something like this design http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Subaru-Gold-Alloy-17-Inch-Wiv-Good-215-45-17-Tyre-/251698314166?pt=UK_CarParts_Acc_Wheels_tyres_Rims_Car_Wheels_ET&hash=item3a9a637bb6
Manners0485 Posted November 1, 2014 Author Posted November 1, 2014 Cheers Rick. I'll have a look at them.
JusNoGood Posted November 2, 2014 Posted November 2, 2014 I had a bog standard GX for 6 years and it stuck to the road in snow, rain etc....,.just saying :) I personally wouldn't update a thing as its not exactly a rapid car. I'd save the money and get a turbo later if I were you. Each to their own and all that. It's your money Afterall [emoji3]
Manners0485 Posted November 7, 2014 Author Posted November 7, 2014 Might be a stupid question but...do all impreza's come with anti roll bars fitted as standard?? I've seen a rear anti roll bar on eBay for a good price and I'm considering buying it. Not sure what else I'll need to buy for it to be able to fit it ie bushes, bolts or (anything else).
stants Posted November 7, 2014 Posted November 7, 2014 I think somone said they aren't fitted to the sport, were looking for bars and mounting kits,
