The thing I find hard here is he said he's known the other guy for 20 years. I'm pretty sure and would hugely be Pi$$ed off if I knew someone for 20+years for them to stab me in the back like this on forums. So for the guy to get that F@cked off.... IF! he did know him for that length of time, the Rotheram guy must have slept with his wife or something. Lets face it we stick with mates. So to be fair I call Bullshit to some of it if not all of it. I don't know full details so happy to sit on the fence but reading both sides, unfortunately even with his bible story of events It doesn't seem to add up. IMHO

This is starting to get interesting , this is why I do everything myself don't trust anyone lol , few others have stepped up saying they have had dodgy work done aswell , strange how everyone who goes clinic needs a engine rebuild though lol, I've heard horror stories about the clinic aswell god , everywhere is **** lol , I went once to a local subaru to get a quote on a clutch just to see how expensive it would be lol , 900 squid lol but they didn't no much about it as they had only just been registered as a subaru garage lol , not let anybody touch my car :-)

From what I've heard and Brocky will probably agree with me they're very good at lets say adding extras to every job. Like brocky was wanting to change from the Nurspec I now have on to a track friendly milltek. They said he would need a £300 remap, yeah of course he would  <_< I think Scoobyclinic know there stuff but no how to blag the customer. for me Martin at Sheffield Subaru Service I trust and if and when I'm ready to get a map done again either Duncan or Area52. nobody else at this moment time I'd trust. other than myself of course ;)

I think who people trust is very subjective,  andy forrest has had some choice words to say about Duncan and personally i wouldn't trust him. But he's well aware of that

I've used clinic for years and always will, some of the job's i have seen that have come from other so called specialists have been abysmal. Do clinic make mistakes now and again as well? yes, there only human, but all it takes is a phone call or a quick visit to put right and they bend over backwards to sort it.

As far as needing a map after changing exhaust, bit dependant if its cat change or not. Prices always seem to be a hotly debated subject though, i do know what clinic charge for a map and why plus it is always a fixed amount, If it takes 2 or 5 hours to map is the same price, bear in mind clinic use a subcontract mapper to do most of their mapping and he has a set fee.

I hear story's now and again about 'overcharing' then when you find out what's actually happened it isn't as simple, typical one is go in for x and y,z and D are found to also be an issue, now is that over charging or rectifying genuine faults? I think you can say the same about allot of places in that sense as well.

You pays yer money you takes your choice :)

Although it is ironic that if you show loyalty now adays you get flak for it lol

At the end of the day people are always going to have had bad experiences with all the various tuners, there's threads all over with mud slinging from well respected tuners aimed at each other,

You'll always get Somone who wants more than the mapper will advise or the car can take so when it goes bang they'll blame whoever mapped it. Not the fact that they ignored the advice from Mr x etc etc.

Any monkey with a laptop and cable can attempt to map, (no offence ment to anyone or our primate friends) once they have the basics understood, doesn't mean they are any good, years of experience count for alot obviously, hell I'm in the process of learning about my esl, but there's no way I'd say I could tweak a map for someone or offer my services to anybody, just cos I have the cable

I'm doing it purely because I'm interested in my car and how it works,

At the end of the day we all have our prefered garage/tuners, I take most of the stuff on the Internet with a pinch of salt.

Do your research into your chosen tuner, don't let Internet bunfights get into your head and ask people who you know for recommendations.

I chose Martin to do my work because he spent 20 mins on the phone before I bought my car telling me what to look for and what to avoid etc. I'd never seen the bloke or used his garage before, but because of his willingness to answer my daft questions I had no problems with trusting him with my car,

I have to agree with the loyalty comment [emoji106]

I've not used clinc but heard enough to not want to use them. I always say good reviews don't get spread about nearly half enough as they should. But when I see lot's of negative feedback I generally stay clear. Brocky uses clinc it was Roger Clarks mapper in the end who said the ecu would learn slightly to adjust for it. I'm no mapper but seen enough to have had my own idea it wouldn't have effected anything. But they was determined it needed the fine tune doing for £300. And I've seen sooo many thing's from other's all saying about similar thing's. Taking cars in for one job and being bombarded with extras that they didn't want or need. Probably have ash and nick on shortly with their reviews too [emoji1]

But anyway my view on them shouldn't count for much as I said I've not used them, just a personal choice so in no means do I mean that people too not use them. And in no way am I trying to put them in the same boat as the person the post is aimed at  :D. As pointed out it's personal preference and they do have a lot of good reviews just google it :D  But back on topic ;) Nothing more been said by either party then that I can see.

Never had a problem with him personally, engine swapped my old sport. did 7ft of welding and a clutch for next to nothing, gave my mum loads of free parts to get it looking good, sold me my WRX wagon, did a full rebuild after scooby clinic blew it up and left me with a 900 quid hole in my wallet for the sake of a 6 quid coolant temp sensor, i also used duncam graham who mapped my car at GR in Swinton and didnt take 3 days and blow my car up twice unlike the clinic, its all personal preference.

Tony charges very little yet people expect miracles, if you want a brand new 20 year old car, go to clinic and fork over 5 grand, if you want to simply keep yours running pay a tenth of that and tony will keep in running into oblivion, youre not paying for new parts unless you specify and are willing to put the extra money in, if a used part fails he recovers the car and goes out of his way to rectify it.

I think what we are seeing are people buying nails, expecting alot for sod all money and when confronted with the issues are happy to have their 'PERFORMANCE CAR OF UPTO 20 YEARS OF AGE' bodged to keep it running and expecting it to go like the clappers and never fail, if you agree to have it bodged to keep it moving, the ideal thing to do is to drive it carefully until you can afford a proper fix, most of the cars ive seen while being down at Rotherham Scoobies have been thrashed or cared for very poorly, im willing to pay for mine, just saying.

Mr syvecs, Yes he is.... wouldnt i let him touch my car again , would i !Removed! remapped my car with a broke cable and blew my ecu, and as for clinic, how many law suits are they going through or have been through with trading standards due to miss sellings etc... im not going to get into it as clearly it will be a wasted effort on the keyboard but for anyone going or thinking of using the clinic be aware, you WILL sign a contract upon getting there. They will make up some BS why you car hasnt made the power ( mine was turbo was on the last legs) BUT wait MR SYVECS didnt read that the monkey of the dyno guy had uplugged my boost solenoid ( how was he remapping to make boost you ask) All this after PAT turned up 2.3 hrs late without so much as a sorry for being late just it was a late night. i was charged twice as when the solenoid was put on my car made over 20psi....so i paid £800 because if not i wasnt going to get my car released due to the contract...

Also one of my mates is a fan boy of clinic, i bought my coilovers off him yesterday and Clinic also set them up at different sizes all the way around, as such he now uses Carnetix.

Each to their own with Tuners and Stuff and ill admit i hate clinic after having 5 bad experiences, the customer service is shocking, and due to my age they treat me like !Removed!, when asking if they have a second hand exhaust ( which i had already seen in the back) i was told by adam that they dont have any second hand parts but he would sell me new, ( really there is a shed full) also if anyone says a bad word about them on any other forums especially UKSCOOBIES which they run your post will be deleted. So tell me again why you would use them???

anyways im ranting peace.

you;d be amazed how many recomendations that place actualy gets. Only in certain places, but its pretty amazing some of the stuff that goes on yet the rep they build up.

I was a member of Yorkshire Scoobies and they all used Rotherham or PVD. I stayed with the Scooby Clinic but they were a bit hit n miss. As it stands I've no more localish tuners to try.

Not as !Removed! off as you would be if he had screwed you for thousands.. And put your kids lives in danger.. He WAS a so called friend, and sticking with them after something like he put me through would be stupidity not loyalty, I haven't made public everything just the key points, so BS can be called all you want....

fair enough as I said I was sitting on the fence until more info came about. Why did he screw you over though just because he had the chance too. I can no longer see the original post on .net. I have seen a lot more info from others come about your ex friend and his dodgy work as my post you quoted was posted sometime ago

[emoji1] I honestly believe its just because the type of person he is, and he won't stop, he wins trust of people then their pride and joy is gone, I could see it was some time ago but to be fair I don't frequent this forum very often and stumbled across it, I just hope people learn from mine and others mistakes

Appreciate you coming on and letting us know mate. I now know who he is and seems to be the worst type of person I agree with you now

I know we have one member on here though that I think Stants was on about on page one of this thread who used to say how good he is and fixed two of his cars at great prices. But seen enough not to trust the person in question  I've started to get a list of garages going for people to use as we get asked alot on here about them safe to say he's not on the list you will be pleased to know  But anyway welcome to S.O.C feel free to join in on the forum all friendly here.
