stants
Hi mate what have you been quoted ? Anywhere between 400-1000 is normal depending on what ecu you have and what's compatable with your year, and all depends on what kind of features your after as well Some ecu's can run open source software which brings the cost down considerably some need a daughter board grafting on or you could splash out in an all siinging all dancing standalone like syvecs Try giving these a shot http://tdracing.co.uk/
quit
Yeah 400-1200 quid roughly depending on what system
larry
£490-£1000 is roughly the prices I have been quoted. I didn't realise it would cost this much for such an old car and all I want is a remap sounds like a lot of money.
quit
Pretty much usual sum for a remap no matter what car
stants
It's not like other stuff like flashing vw's which is a simple affair, your looking at, ecu/ software, mapper &dyno time but it will be properly set up
quit
Yeah that's technically slave file pushing its not a remap just a generic Rom map uploaded onto your existing set up someone has made in a factory setting
quit
My last full on remap was 385 map 70 fuel ( road map and fuel getting there ) 75 new maf as mine was shot 40 solenoid Needed some vac pipes too Result = smiles
larry
Matt where did you go for your remap? and how much bhp are you pushing? Just to add im installing a vf28 turbo before mapping.
quit
I ran a vf28 and hit 318ish but I didn't go silly as my clutch isn't that great But now I blew the turbo up ! Got a vf35 I am running eculabs mate which is pretty new so cheaper
quit
Basically your options are Budget: Apexi Eculabs Ecutek Higher : Simtec Alkatec Syvecs
Tidgy
Givem whjat car you have i'd go with the alcatek option myself, sacks the maf and a very capable ecu.
quit
Alkatec is good, Syvecs is better lol Im going maffless too
Tidgy
O don't get me wrong, syvecs is the way to go if you have the extra cash, i would always go syvecs myself which is why i have one, but for a simple decat and map its prob a tad ott at £2k unless you have the spare money lol Alcatek will do the job fine
quit
Alkatec is still too expensive I think if he is worried about the 400-1k quotes Isn't it about 900 quid for that ?
Tidgy
tends to work out a bit more than an ecutek, but the added benefits it brings are worth the extra imo. Can take a couple of visits to the mapper to sort out cold start (uinless you leave it with em for a couple of days) but once thats sorted then all good. quit
Btw ecutek is about 550 to install and set up roughly ( have to buy a license )
Tidgy
Alkatec is still too expensive I think if he is worried about the 400-1k quotes Isn't it about 900 quid for that ? just to add it varies from car year to car year, also anti lag and launch control are cost options, not that you need em on a road car anyway
quit
They are fun tho !
larry
Thank you guys for the information I have contacted a few places and asked for prices on installing my turbo and remap. Are the injectors on a v5 subaru impreza turbo 2000 the same as an sti v5
larry
How did your turbo blow matt? Did it have high mileage?
quit
Not really about 75k Smoked a lot ! Luckily I got it off before some of the insides went into the engine area
quit
Injectors are the same cc yes You an upgrade to a 550 but not worth it , my mate had 750s in his sti6 but we're only on 60% duty
Tidgy
doubtfull you'll max the injectors on a vf28 so i wouldn't worry about it. my 28 needs replacing before its mapped, seals are going and now and again it kicks out odd blue smoke.
larry
i bough my vf28 turbo its second hand out of a 45000miles sti version 5. I am planning on installing it and then when i found a remapping place go there and get it mapped. Ive been told i can get 310-330bhp safely.
