arobson90 Posted November 23, 2015 Posted November 23, 2015 Hi, Looking to change my car and am going to look at a few imprezas this week. Currently top of my current list is a 2003 WRX at a local dealership. Can anyone point out common faults / problems to look for? Are there any major issues with the build I am looking at? Thanks Andrew
Moss Posted November 23, 2015 Posted November 23, 2015 Hi Robson, Know nothing about the Subaru your interested in. But welcome to the Subaru Forum..
GeoffLeggy Posted November 23, 2015 Posted November 23, 2015 Welcome. Sounds like the very thing Id look for Impreza wise. First thing I would do is take a real good look over the service history. As a dealer I assume you'll get a warranty for peace of mind too :) ?
Sandals Posted November 23, 2015 Posted November 23, 2015 Welcome!! Yeh check for full service history and make sure it hasn't done in excess of 7k miles between services, see if the cambelt has been changed also. Take the car out for a drive and check for any smoke out of the exhaust, blue smoke could point to a failing turbo.
Jay762 Posted November 23, 2015 Posted November 23, 2015 Wotcha and welcome - this may help http://uk.subaruownersclub.com/forums/topic/1619-help-check-guide-buying-1st-subaru/
arobson90 Posted November 24, 2015 Author Posted November 24, 2015 Thanks lads, it has full service history (not sure on cambelt yet). It's only done 45k in 12 years! @Jay762 that is really helpful thanks.
Sandals Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 It's always nice to find one with super low miles (I'm sitting at 42k :D), would def look into the cambelt... if it hasn't been changed in 12 years I would get it done! 1
arobson90 Posted November 25, 2015 Author Posted November 25, 2015 Yeah to be honest I was shocked to find one with such low mileage. Waiting on reply regarding my part ex and cam belt then hopefully test drive tonight. 1
