Hi,

 

Looking to change my car and am going to look at a few imprezas this week. Currently top of my current list is a 2003 WRX at a local dealership. 

 

Can anyone point out common faults / problems to look for? Are there any major issues with the build I am looking at?

Welcome.  Sounds like the very thing Id look for Impreza wise.  First thing I would do is take a real good look over the service history.   As a dealer I assume you'll get a warranty for peace of mind too  :) ?

Welcome!! Yeh check for full service history and make sure it hasn't done in excess of 7k miles between services, see if the cambelt has been changed also. Take the car out for a drive and check for any smoke out of the exhaust, blue smoke could point to a failing turbo.

it has full service history (not sure on cambelt yet). It's only done 45k in 12 years!

It's always nice to find one with super low miles (I'm sitting at 42k :D), would def look into the cambelt... if it hasn't been changed in 12 years I would get it done!

Yeah to be honest I was shocked to find one with such low mileage. Waiting on reply regarding my part ex and cam belt then hopefully test drive tonight.

Yeh so was I when i bought mine, got it September 2014 with 32k on the clock and only 1 owner!! We got pretty lucky :D
