classic steve Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 Hi all. Been a little while since I've been on the forum. Been an unhappy owner of a focus ST for a few months. Had nothing but aggro and payout since I bought it. Eventually, after a cracked liner issue, I've cut my losses and sold up so back to searching for a subaru AGAIN. Should have gone with my instincts and stayed in the warm folds of Japan. lol. Anyway, im after a blobeye onwards sti. Got to be uk spec as cant afford to insure an import. 1
aucky Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 thats why they are called fix or repair daily, i mean ford, look forwards to seein pic of your new car when you get it. 1
classic steve Posted January 9, 2016 Author Posted January 9, 2016 Had to get the focus st out of my system to be honest. Cost me near on a grand loss for the privilege. lol. Defo going to take my time buying again. Want this next car to be " the one" if there is such a thing. 1
Jay762 Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 What is your budget as there are a few nice examples out there but sorry to say having been watching for last 18 mobths or so the prices keep creeping up 1
savage bulldogs Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 Good clean classics are fetching better money than bugs or early blobs . As Jay says prices for good scoobs seem to be going up a bit, probably cos fuel prices are a bit better lately If it's not broke .....upgrade it 1

classic steve Posted January 13, 2016 Author Posted January 13, 2016 I'm looking to spend between £6000 to £8000. I've had an import sti classic before and would prefer to go up the years to bug or blob. Seen a few on the bay but become very untrusting thanks to my focus experience. Is tom harvey as bad as ive heard? Seems to have a fair few nice scoobys atm.

Seen a few on the bay but become very untrusting thanks to my focus experience. Is tom harvey as bad as ive heard? Seems to have a fair few nice scoobys atm. Someone asked a few years ago. It was mixed reviews then if I remember right some said avoid it. And few said they was OK. I do remember one of them saying they was aggressive though. Not much help I know but think.id stay away myself.
classic steve Posted January 14, 2016 Author Posted January 14, 2016 Think im just going to bide my time and wait until the one for me turns up. Suppose the longer it takes the more money i will have to add to the pot.
Tidgy Posted January 14, 2016 Posted January 14, 2016 scoobyclinic did have a nice black widetrack in, not sure what the asking price was though, give em a bell mate see what they have cos they normaly have something in for sale.
aucky Posted January 14, 2016 Posted January 14, 2016 try http://www.jctcars.co.uk/ at rotherham they usually have some nice examples in,i got my bug wagon from them.
Tidgy Posted January 14, 2016 Posted January 14, 2016 Pretty sure that's where a friend of mine bought hers from, had a couple of issues with it but the guy was stand up and sorted them so very good experience with them all in all
classic steve Posted January 14, 2016 Author Posted January 14, 2016 I've seen a 1 owner sti wr1 just been listed on eBay but the mileage of 144k is a bit more than i wanted to go for. Is that sort of mileage an issue with full service history?
Gambit Posted January 14, 2016 Posted January 14, 2016 Wow thats high milage for that car to be honest. Nice cars but that would probably put me off if I wasn't planning on a rebuild soon.
classic steve Posted January 14, 2016 Author Posted January 14, 2016 Thats what i thought myself. Really dont want to have to pump 4k into a rebuild seeing as the cars near on 10k to buy! Saw a wr1 the other day at work on someones drive. My god it was neglected. Dents and rusty arches. Looked like it had been parked up for a few years. What a waste.
Gambit Posted January 14, 2016 Posted January 14, 2016 can't understand why people get a car like that and not look after it. My missus said she would leave me to own a WR1 she loves them lol. the one with the highmilage has it had a rebuild before ? might be high milage showing but only really be lowish.
classic steve Posted January 14, 2016 Author Posted January 14, 2016 Theres no mention of a rebuild. Its just had a new clutch fitted. Theres full subaru service history with it. Like you say, its only a matter of time before a rebuild is required. And knowing my luck it wouldnt even get me home. lol. 1
Gambit Posted January 14, 2016 Posted January 14, 2016 Oh shame that Bit of a long shot have you had a word with Scoobyworld might have a customer selling their car. When I was there before I see a car for sale that they was working on never know :)
