Mattphillip Posted February 20, 2016 Posted February 20, 2016 Hi Guys, My 1997 Impreza turbo is having a little problem, so when the car is warm and I pull up to traffic light ect the revs go really low and today it cut out. I've been reading a lot about cleaning the idle control valve but on the forums it's states to have a replacement gasket. I can't find one anywhere? I found loads for the 2001 model but not the classic. Can anyone help me out.
oldschoolSTI Posted February 20, 2016 Posted February 20, 2016 Use the valve or the existing gasket as a template and save some money..... http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2050601.m570.l1311.R1.TR11.TRC1.A0.H0.Xgasket.TRS0&_nkw=gasket+paper&_sacat=0
Mattphillip Posted February 20, 2016 Author Posted February 20, 2016 Thank you but I'm after the part number as don't mind paying for the original one
savage bulldogs Posted February 20, 2016 Posted February 20, 2016 Import car parts will probably have them in stock [emoji6] If it's not broke .....upgrade it 😊 2
Mattphillip Posted February 20, 2016 Author Posted February 20, 2016 Brilliant found it guys, now can I clean it without removing the whole part 1
savage bulldogs Posted February 20, 2016 Posted February 20, 2016 Think a couple of members have cleaned their icv (possibly using electrical contact cleaner) but hopefully someone else who has done it will point you in the right direction If it's not broke .....upgrade it 😊
kayzarh Posted February 20, 2016 Posted February 20, 2016 I should have a breakdown guide in my manuals, I'll check tomorrow and get some pictures asap Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Tapatalk 1
stants Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 It's on my never ending list to do, if you take it all apart there's a diaphragm inside which would be better off being replaced instead of re used, And What ever you do don't unscrew the two Philips heads on top of the sensor without marking them 1st at least, if that goes out of alignment you'll be Tring to reset the idle forever
WideSam Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 Might be worth just checking the air pipe(s)? connecting to it. From what I remember they can go a bit brittle... Sent from my iphone using Tapatalk
Sandals Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 I cleaned my IACV with petrol, worked quite well! Mine is different to the classic one tho
kayzarh Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 According to the manual this is how you clean it! And here is the torque rating Sorry bout the late reply Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Tapatalk
