Subaru786
Hi Does anyone have any knowledge on reconditioned engines, i heard they are not the same as a second hand one or a used working one but wanted to know your views on purchasing reconditioned engines. Tidgy
Depends what they say. Could just be a jet wash or could be a full strip down and rebuild. Personally I'd always go rebuild myself
Subaru786
If i get my own engine reconditioned fully would that have an affect on it? meaning it wont perform the same or will it be more prone to breaking again?
Subaru786
Also have you had a full strip down and rebuild on your subaru?

Built properly will be good for another 150k, also a good excuse to have it upgraded ;) 19 hours ago, Subaru786 said: Also have you had a full strip down and rebuild on your subaru? Yep, Scoobyclinic have built 2 different engines for 2 different cars, both 2.5's though. I went kinda mad second time and had a full closed deck converted 2.5 built hahaha also had heads rebuilt including new valves and valve guides from this, with a rattly crank shaft to this and that is on low boost and being held back to stop the gearbox from self destructing haha
Subaru786
Thanks, sounds like you had a project going on and the figures are impressive. Scooby clinic i believe are pricey and i have a budget which is the cheapest option to by an second hand engine. Can an engine from a subaru impreza 2004 turbo go into a subaru impreza turbo 2000, 1999?
Tidgy
Depends what you call pricey, they can build to required spec. Do you know whats failed on yours? There are cheaper alternatives, but you tend to get what you pay for. Second hand engines are a risk, no gaurenty with them, plenty of people get bitten by them. Subaru786
Pricey for me is anything over £700. Bottom end has gone, do you know anyone who could do this? Also how much did you pay for yours?
