FozzySTurbo
Hi All I'm new to the Forester and wanted to see what peoples views are regarding improving the lungs! I've never used a performance panel filter replacement before. Previously used Blitz SUS cones on my integra type R and Rev 5 MR2 which I must admit were awesome. In your opinions, which setup would better suit the S-Turbo - Panel (K&N, Green Cotton) or Cone (Blitz, HKS or alike)? What have you used with good results? Thanks in advance for your time and replies Regards Ben
quit
panel filters work well, and easy cone filters tend to suck in hot air
stants
Something that doesn't require oiling as it tends to mess up the maf over time Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
GeoffLeggy
PANEL, no doubt and as per stants.

Cpt Jack Sparrow
Had a cone on my Hawkeye and it never really ran smooth, replaced it with the OEM set up and a Cosworth panel filter and is as smooth as you like now..

FozzySTurbo
Thanks Guys! Much appreciated wisdom - sounds like I'll be going with a cosworth panel straight replacement. Do they come dry or oiled? Heard about the MAF sensor problems with oiled panel filters! Where's the cheapest place to get hold of one? Cpt Jack Sparrow
Hi The Cosworth filter is a dry filter, so no oil, no MAF issues
Cpt Jack Sparrow
Oh and I found they are the same sort of price all over, bought mine off of eBay from a well known seller
FozzySTurbo
Sold! I'll go and hunt one down now - thanks
GeoffLeggy
Cosworth are good. I've used STI which is a lot more money but also the ramair which is around £15 cheaper than cosworth. All very good depending on your budget.

An for what its worth Cosworth Panel filter, £38 on eBay.
FozzySTurbo
Good advice buddy - would have never thought to check that! I'm presuming you don't get the pronounced "sucking" noise with a panel of that you would get with a cone and cold air feed? Most people advised on the cosworth panel as apposed to the other alternatives so will be ordering one this week
quit
no you dont get anything really, i cut the inside of my air box up adding 50mm holes in the side to help air get in
FozzySTurbo
!Removed!! Mind you, turbo whistle sounds better anyway. Was reading your post earlier (the one that dates back) - really good! As you've done it already, any ideas on what the total rough cost and list of things I'd need to do for the TDO4 swap? Just found this - worth a punt? https://www.gumtree.com/p/car-replacement-parts/cat-back-exhaust-subaru-forester-stb-sf5-97-/1170502261
quit
seen cheaper lol , td04 swap should be pretty easy plus you have more room than in a scoob so should be really easy!
FozzySTurbo
Is that a good price then or was that sarcasm!? Can I just swap turbos or would it need remapping + supporting mods? Thanks

stants
Just to make you aware the foz back box is a slightly different so if you buy an impreza one you'll need to extend the back box pipework by 3" and get the hangers re welded Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
