Hi

We have a 58 plate old shape Forester, low mileage and in good condition

Had the cambelt and a rear wheel bearing changed by a dealer recently, no problems really but while taking it there the exhaust broke. I was advised it couldn't be repaired. The dealer then disposed of the exhaust (without asking)

I'm was quoted a price of around £1,600 for a Subaru replacement, dealer advised me to find an alternative via a local garage or specialist who may possibly make one up for less than the cost of the Subaru part?

Any suggestions please, are compatible exhausts available at all?

in the Wrexham Shrewsbury area

Regards

Rob

Hello, if there's a local powerflow franchise near you they would be able to make one up for 400ish, with a lifetime guarantee, how much of the exhaust do you need?

Thanks

Middle and rear section apparently. There is a local branch so I'll get in touch.

There are also cheap mild steel ones on eBay for about 40 quid,

The 400 was a rough figure for the cat back all the way

Assuming you just a non turbo 2.0x all you need is one of these kits>

Quality is pretty good too, steel is quite thick & resists corrosion quite well (better than what available at any of our factors & cheaper too), gaskets & bolts handy too, prefer original rubber hangers but these handy if you missing 1 or got broken 1 .
Have a back box fitted almost 2yrs on a sf farm forester & it still perfect, they could do 5 to 8+yrs easily in most cases besides salt water boat towers etc.

They'll probably take £50 or £54 if put in offer (had few systems SF SG Legacy and a Justy . Fitting can be done in a hour unless got other exhaust issues that need a fiddle to get everything perfect .

Old thread on it here >

really!!!

£1600!!!

Ring Rob up at Stan Palmers, (he's on the Customer Service desk, he's got me a replacement SS back box.. approved by Subaru... under £200 delivered, and a centre pipe was about £100 if I wanted it. My car is 2002, but II think they'll do one for a 2008 too.

worth a call, as they come with subaru warranty too.

Thanks all

We contacted our local Powerflow franchise (in Demon Tweeeks) they did a good job, reviewed and then quoted. Came in at £450, front section was still in place.

Even sounds quite good for a non turbo ... but it is making me think i should have bought a turbo in the first place. :-)

Thanks again
