October 3, 20169 yr Hi guys , I purchased a 08 plate diesel legacy and the gearbox is gone and nearly the rear diff as well. I was wondering if the outback transmission would go on to it , I haven't got the part code yet and was wondering if anyone knew if it would be compatible. Thanks in advance . October 4, 20169 yr Are you asking Legacy diesel to OB diesel? Ratios may be different, not sure about mountings. Obviously, differing diff ratios wouldn't work front to rear.
October 4, 20169 yr Have a look at your vin plate on the strut tower in the engine bay, The gearbox code is stamped on it In theory you should just be able to find a replacement with same code and it will go straight in, If you can't find a match you'll need to swap diffs driveshafts and possibly hubs to keep correct ratios & stop it all eating it's self Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk

Yeah it's from a diesel to a diesel , I'm just going to play it safe and get a like for like , that should save any unwanted hassle , they ate just so hard to find in the diesel version .
