Hi people :)

Just got a wrx  and all good, dif just been rebuilt, new clutch (stage 1) etc,been mapped,exhaust so 270ish BHP...only just noticed when in 4th and 5th low revs 1500-1800rpm a strange kinda rattle comes from the car, like something isn't that happy or not engaging, car drives spot after then!! Any help much appreciated :)

After changing my box I get a rattle/ whining noise mainly in 4 and 5 at low revs does happen in all gears but can't hear it over exhaust it's coming from under gearstick and it's the centre diff seen a few people have the same problem

Mine did it, at those revs, only in 4th and 5th, worse in 5th than 4th, was a 2003 wrx blob eye wagon and my noise was rear diff strangely 

Have you checked rear dif and gearbox oil levels and condition ?

 

 

The rear diff got rebuilt by the last owner, sounds like kinda under gear box...being honest did a hard launch, for 2secs and since then not a happy car...mines a 2001 :)

maybe you are driving to slow in those gears. virtually stalling speed so stressing car.
