Hi,

hoping anyone can help. My 2001 Subaru Impreza has been stuck in limp mode for about 6 months. Nobody seems to know the issue.

It struggles to reach 60 and really struggles up hill. Fault code P0122

Have spoken to local garages and they say take it to the local auto Elec but they said that they haven't got the wiring diagram to check it.

anybody else have the same issue?

I dont think im being taken seriously as I'm a girl :( any advice welcome

thanks in advance

Your code is indicating a fault with throttle position sensor. It reports a low voltage. The first step now would be to replace the TPS.

Check and clean the engine and engine loom earths .

Could try adding a extra engine earth directly from the Battery negative to a bolt on the engine block . as im sure some bugeyes do have earthing issues , although it normally affects the cam sensor readings and goes into limp mode .

Was the tps calibrated correctly when fitted ?

I've got an earthing kit on my 2001 legacy, just a bunch of wires that connect to the Battery and random parts of the car.

Read some owners had problems with earthing / wires improved the responsiveness.. got it anyway, didn't really notice anything different as the car was alright before that.

Some old guy once told me the old cars were + earthed but changed to - earth to help the body deter rust.. don't know if that's true or not but it was another good reason to check everything is earthed properly :)

thankyou all for the advice. asking on here was my last resort as local garages seem useless and clueless.

the TPS been calibrated.

todays garage said its not the TPS and no idea why its throwing up that fault code. He thinks it could be boost leak?

don't want my baby down the scrap yard! 😭

definitely going to look into earthing issue. Willing to give anything a go.
