Newbie to the Soobie

Hi everyone,

Thought a little introduction was necessary as I've lurked on the forum a few times now as a guest gathering opinions on the legacy and have finally taken the plunge.

As of next weekend (when I pick it up) I will be the proud owner of a 2006 legacy 3.0R spec B. Unfortunately, in my excitement of viewing, test drive, deposit I forgot to take any pictures to show off my new pride and joy but I will remember to next weekend and get some posted!!

Still amazed that even after 150k the car felt and drove like new and absolutely everything worked like it was just out today the showroom! Much better than than the 2004 vectra I'm part exing for the legacy that's for sure!

Only issue I did notice was that the sat nav wouldn't come on when I pressed the button, but don't know if this may have been down to low Battery voltage?! (The car had to be jump started before I could test drive) I'll be keeping an eye on it regardless and I've got a Garmin anyway so not a desperate fix if a fix is required.

So anyway looking forward to many years of happy ownership as I've heard these cars are like the Duracell bunny and also looking forward to getting to know these cars more from an owner's perspective and being a member of the forum.

I guess the only question left to ask is, anyone here from Hertfordshire?

Look forward to meeting and getting to know you all.

Well she's home safe and sound, words defy me as to just how good that drive home was! Driven a few nice cars in my time but the legacy is up there already, probably top 2 (following a sensibly modded Jag xtype) but time and living with it will only enhance it top 1 status. And the noise!!! My god the noise is beautiful! And that's on a standard exhaust, new one is in the pipeline to fully unlocked that h6 roar. If the drive home was that good living with it can only get better!!

Only a couple of pictures for now as in my excitement I parked it up at home and forgot but rest assured there will be plenty more photos when I take her for another drive later!

I drive an older 2.5 legacy, about to hit 200,000 miles. Constant start stop driving, only real problem I had was the back of the starter motor cracked making a loose connection, some ball joints and arb bushings.
Also I never get waved at by other Subaru drivers :| when driving my girlfriends Impreza I get waved at all the time :| I find that annoying. She finds it funny.

Anyway I like the look of yours, maybe look to get the windows tinted?
'Jess' would be a good name for your second wife, looking at the reg plate ;)

Hmm not sure how quickly I'll be approaching 200,000 miles anytime soon as this looking like a weekend driver at the minute as work is within walking distance. I'll wave if I ever see you haha. Legacies are a rarity in my neck of the woods, only seen 1 other estate in the past 5 years. Based on the latest picture, tints have to happen at some point lol. Maybe just the backs though. I'll have to see.

Now that you got a legacy you will see more of them on the roads. And have you noticed yet how light steering feels [emoji2]

Haha don't say that Steve!! Happened to me when I bought my MG ZR! 🙈 I'm happy to be exclusive for now haha. Yeah I've noticed the steering is surprisingly light for the size of the car, guessing that for getting the back end out in the corners? Tried it round a couple of roundabouts but I couldn't get the back to step out! Anyone know why?! 🤔😂

Another shot of the beast too 😁

I think other Subaru drivers think it's a Toyota or something, especially without the hood scoop.
You could try suddenly downshifting when turning, or turning the opposite way, braking and sudden change in steering while accelerating. All about getting the weight to the front. Or just over inflating the rear tyres?

As that happens to be the exact spec of leggy I've bought feel free to tell him he can ask me for an owner's opinion ;)

They truly are fantastic cars especially for the money you can pick them up for. Mines done 150k and starts/runs/drives like a brand new car! Truly is the best car I've ever owned or driven and I'm glad I went for the 3.0 as I've heard the 2.0/2.5 aren't quite as nice to drive as they feel underpowered.
