piratehatter
Hi all, just shook hands on a '04 Outback 3.0 from a lovely chap. High miles, but service history. Just one quick question for help in identifying a part/part number. The reverse aid indicator housed in the rear roof near side is missing its housing. The traffic lights work though, but there is no audible buzz. Cheers Jim

GeoffLeggy
Welcome Jim! Good car you've shaken on. Wouldn't know the part number but best bet is to just look at breakers.

shms
Hi guys, as per piratehatter ^^, i also shook hands very recently on a 2007 reg outback RN, (wiv' paddles) but mine was from 2 lovely chaps ! Nearly bought the met' blue one up in Matlock (still for sale) but it had 69k on the clock, this one (see profile pic) only had 27k genuine .. result ? i think so (although it cost top dollar) and it's nigh on mint, so am a happy bunny so far ! Almost bought a Forester a few years back and always hankered after a Sub' but i've been over on the darkside (Mitsu) recently so it's nice to finally land up with summat a bit quicker ! excuse me while i have a butchers round this site, i dare say i'll be back with loadsa questions once i've figured it out.. Nate_zr132
Recently purchased a legacy estate and must say it's the best car I've ever driven. Last time I came across this much comfort with this much speed it was an SRT Grand Cherokee costing north of £80k (not mine unfortunately) but the legacy is much more fun to drive! Welcome to the club and enjoy your outback! :)
shms
Thanks Nate, looks like we're a pretty rare sight around wat/st'alb' , not seen either leggy or outback since i got mine...i'll keep an eye out for you !! i'm also looking to go stainless on the cat-back exhaust, as my original is getting a bit past it but not sure who to use yet. cheers...
Nate_zr132
We certainly are shms, I know there's a light blue leggy goes around Watford, seems a bit quiet to me so I believe it's only a 2.0/2.5 and seen one outback but I think that was just passing through as haven't seen it since. I'm on a private plate and I believe the only 3.0 spec b legacy in Watford (happy to be proven wrong) so I'll keep an eye out for you too mate. Always happy to know of another local subbie owner to share experiences/advice/knowledge with that's for sure!
shms
likewise with the cherished plate...i'm not really tonking around in a '98 model... how much extra bhp is there on a spec B ?
Nate_zr132
Ah you'll be easily spotted then, I'm on a J plate, just saying . Weekends will be the best time to catch me in her as well lol. The spec b's push out 245bhp but I'm pretty sure that's standard across the 3.0 range. Think the spec b designation is just Bilstein sports suspension and extra toys as standard inside. The options list is pretty small I hear.
shms
thanks for the clarification,,i'm on a steep learning curve !
Nate_zr132
Same here! Still not sure I've found all the toys these cars have to offer up! can't wait to see how she gets on while on an airport run later this month. The short blasts have been lovely but I do feel the need to stretch the legs a little for sure! It's been a steep learning curve for me too already! Whoever said a boxer layout was a good idea?! 🤔 Certainly good to know that there's a fellow H6 just down the road to look out for!
shms
tbh i'm amazed how free-revving the H6 is but talking of noise mine seems fairly restrained as is on orig' exhaust...(on the way out) the engine certainly starts singing above 4K and i'm thinking a nice SS set of pipes will help. Not that i want to go "loud" but it deffo needs a bit more sound and easier breathing. like you i'm still finding out what all the buttons/menus actually do !! enjoy your first long run, the overtaking possibilities are addictive !! hope to see you around
Nate_zr132
It is an incredible engine to be fair, yeah I think mines on an aftermarket OEM pipe if that makes sense. Makes a decent noise but certainly more to open up. Yeah there's a lot of menus and toys to discover haha. I think it'll surprise you for a long time yet lol. Ah gonna get a new radiator and thermostat on her I think before I take her out for a longer run, temp gauge likes to scare me when engines under load up hill haha. She's been behaving very recently though. I'll certainly keep an eye out for ya, the legacy's are distinctive vehicles that's for sure
shms
as a matter of interest do you have a set of carpet overmats in yours ? i ask coz mine are missing/sold/worn out/who knows ..but i assume there would have been a set when new (for 30K i'd expect some !!)... anyhoo a set for Outback in ivory is hard to come by, but are available for Legacy.. i have no idea if/or there is any difference between the floorplans between the models but apparently there is ? ? i figure if i can try a leggy set via an owner it'll save having to send a set back if i purchase..and they ARE wrong ... **puzzled** any experts with definitive answer ?
