swe223 Posted February 7, 2020 Share Posted February 7, 2020 Hey guys I have a 2005 seat Ibiza 1.9 TDI PD 130 and it pulls like a train, the economy is good but more importantly when you put your foot down it does so well for its size I think because of the very high torque. I'm looking at a 2006 Subaru Impreza saloon 2.0r sport with 109,000 miles on it for £1750. The car looks in great condition and had a years MOT put on it only 2 days ago with no advisories or anything. Now my question is, because I make a trip to buy it in the next few days, will I miss having my turbo on my current car? The model of Subaru I'm looking at is 160hp so is higher compared to my current 130 but I'm insure if the drive will be sluggish and I'll regret my decision. Judd Posted February 8, 2020 Share Posted February 8, 2020 If your Seat is still in good condition, look after it and keep it that way for as long as you can. That PD 130 engine is probably the best Diesel car engine ever made, to drive the Scooby at the same rate as knots as the Seat you will more than double your fuel consumption and i think you will miss that fantastic surge the PD has when on stream. If its grip that's lacking, hence the Subaru interest instead invest in some good all season tyres such as Michelin Cross Contact or their Goodyear or Conti equivalents. I had a fiat punto 1.9 Grande punto and that pulled like a train compared to my old classis 2.0 sport. If you after speed keep the seat all day long. The Subaru will also be far less economical. savage bulldogs Posted February 8, 2020 Share Posted February 8, 2020 I have a 2011 caddy workhorse with the 1.6 tdi lump , it does pull well with the torquey derv lump . If economy is a concern then I'd steer clear of almost anything subaru lol . But I dare say the 160hp na would get off the line and up to 60 probably quicker than the derv (definitely in the wet) . But it would feel much slower when rolling , so maybe try a test drive in the na scooby (or save up for a turbo scooby) before handing over your hard earnt 😉 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Jay762 Posted February 10, 2020 Share Posted February 10, 2020 It will feel a lot slower - check out the weight of the sccob with 160bhp compared to your Seat.
