Daryl Posted June 1, 2020 Posted June 1, 2020 Anyone had any issues with using throttle body/ intake cleaner on the maf?
Tidgy Posted June 3, 2020 Posted June 3, 2020 seems to be hit and miss if it works, also if you use the wrong chemical then will damage it.
Daryl Posted June 5, 2020 Author Posted June 5, 2020 Cheers I've ordered the right stuff now anyways mate
savage bulldogs Posted June 6, 2020 Posted June 6, 2020 I normally use brake cleaner , just don't physically touch the element wire (very fragile) and make sure the cleaner has completely evaporated, before refitting 😉 1
Daryl Posted June 6, 2020 Author Posted June 6, 2020 Cheers I've heard a few people say that savage, .got the stuff in the post today, I took a look at the sensor an it looks pretty clean to be honest, I just thought with the car having 104 on the clock it might need a blast, think I should do it anyways?
savage bulldogs Posted June 6, 2020 Posted June 6, 2020 if its running ok there's probably no point disturbing it but if its got a bit of hesitation its certainly cheaper than just buying a new maf
savage bulldogs Posted June 10, 2020 Posted June 10, 2020 Maf's do have delicate wires ,so can be damaged fairly easily but normally if the get dropped or have current run through them whilst wet or oily. So long as your careful and make sure its dry before fitting you should be fine bud . If it is very dirty /oily it might have been giving incorrect voltage readings to the ECU, which the ecu might have "learned " So if you do clean it it might be worth doing a ECU reset once refitted too , although the ecu will probably re learn the difference eventually
