But just tried to look and can't find anything, and the police around my area sort of let you like my front's are to dark, but coppers have not stopped me so far, they seem ok to some people. Gambit Posted May 18, 2013 Share Posted May 18, 2013 Can be as dark as you like on the back if there black tints front non at all but I have, and have had on 4 cars now ;) (I'm a bad boy) :D And was told the one way mirror/ silver tints was now banned. He said The Police came to his bay asked him to stop doing them with mirror tints if he could and just do the black after 4 people was killed on the M6 when a lorry driver was blinded by the glare. He did say it's not against the law but less people will fit them now, and that it's mainly the back/rear window that is not done but rear door windows should be fine (I think it would look wrong that to me) He did say he think's you would run a small risk of being pulled with them but it's not against the law to have mirror tints :D Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Miggs Posted July 16, 2013 Share Posted July 16, 2013 as said it's not illegal just frowned upon due to the glare, with black you can go as dark as you like on the rear windows, the front door windows need to allow 70% light through, bear in mind if you get a 30% tint film it will take you over the legal limit as you have factory tints too, not sure on the percentage of factory tint on the impreza, the windscreen has to let 75% light through, this means you can cover a certain amount top or bottom with the touring car style strips if you want to, you could also put tint film on the whole windscreen provided it was light enough if you get pulled and asked to remove it at the side of the road as them to prove it's too dark, afaik only traffic police have the gizmos to check and een then it's not all of them, they can't force you to remove it there and then they can just give you a producer style ticket to go to the mot station and get it stamped to say the fronts are now legal, i had very dark smoke tints on the fronts when i bought it and as i had a few other illegal mods i didn't want to be noticed so much with the front tints so i removed them 1 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Miggs Posted July 17, 2013 Share Posted July 17, 2013 i don't take no !Removed! of coppers, i know my rights and i know the law, sometimes more than the officers, i have been pulled numerous times for doing illegal things, each time driven away with nothing but a !Removed! off copper in my rear view, it pays to know what you can and can't get away with, simple things like your response when you get pulled, when the copper asks, do you know why i pulled you over, this usually means he has no proof of what you were doing and is relying on you admitting to what you did, just say you don't know and you can usually get away with it, if it's not a traffic car they don't have a calibrated speedo so can't prove what your actual speed was, nor is there a camera to record your actions Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Gambit Posted July 17, 2013 Share Posted July 17, 2013 Touch wood I have only ever got pulled once and that was for my !Removed! head mate sat in the back of the Escort in the middle leaning forward between the 2 front seat's talking to me and another lad. We got pulled over for that and my mate went and told them I didn't have my belt on either the !Removed! :) It was £25 on the spot fine then. Miggs Posted July 18, 2013 Share Posted July 18, 2013 I did that once back in my youth, back then coppers would give you a slap to teach you a lesson, there was 8 of us walking across the estate where I lived then, it was a rough estate too, still is, we saw this copper stop in the middle of the road and watching us, we all decided we were gonna leg it, as soon as we got round the corner we just acted normal, what we didn't realise is he was a dog patrol, the dog come barrelling round the corner off the lead, luckily it didn't know who to attack so just kept barking at all of us and kinda running back and forth, this copper come round and gave us a bollocking saying it was lucky he had the dog or he'd of twatted us all, we just laughed at him, we got a bollocking and checked on the pnc but nowt else, was funny as though Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
