Scooby Pete Posted January 2, 2014 Posted January 2, 2014 Congrats, you always seem to get better service with the independents over the franchises. Yay for the small guys. Enjoy the car :D 1
Jay762 Posted January 2, 2014 Posted January 2, 2014 Way hay - more new pictures !! - thats great news good on the dealer :) 1
david1972 Posted January 4, 2014 Author Posted January 4, 2014 Just back from 50 mile drive back from garage to collect the car. Lovely driver, will post pics once it's cleaned up to my standards haha

david1972 Posted January 4, 2014 Author Posted January 4, 2014 Congratulations, hope to get mine in the next few days. Great stuff - do let us know when you do :)
david1972 Posted January 4, 2014 Author Posted January 4, 2014 Have had a little time now to red through the invoices, service history etc. The car has done 128k with a full service history - just about due for it's next one, but supplying garage have changed oil etc, so can probably wait a couple of months. New front pads and discs recently fitted at 123k. New exhuast (full system) fitted by supplying garage before sale (literally still gleaming). Salesman said it'd had the timing belt done twice, but can only find invoice evidence of having been done once at 66k. New O2 sensor fitted about a year ago. All in all very happy with the quality and quantity of history. Think my original inkling that I've uncovered a little gem looks good on paper ;)
stants Posted January 4, 2014 Posted January 4, 2014 Whoop ! Glad you like it. When was the last mayor service done ? Should have been includes in that. I'd have a look see what condition the belt has done as they are supposed to be done every 40k i think. Mine has the same amount of mileage and i was told the belt had at least 20k left on it but with no record i wasn't going to chance it. When it came off the idler and pulleys looked ok as was genuine subaru belt. It's an expensive job but for piece of mind i'd get it checked
david1972 Posted January 4, 2014 Author Posted January 4, 2014 Last major service at a Subaru dealer was done @ 102k and invoice has no mention of belts being replaced; just inspected. The most recent service @ 118k was done at an independent and no belts are listed on the parts invoice. Think I'll just have to take it to my trusted local garage and ask them for an honest appraisal of the belt condition. I can see no reason why it won't have been done twice as advised, based on the money the previous owner was happy to spend to maintain it. Looks like the belts are supposed to be done every 60k, according to the service schedule
stants Posted January 4, 2014 Posted January 4, 2014 Like you say if the previous owner has done everything irrelivant of cost should be nothing to worry about. I was getting confused with the service schedual sorry, :O i have an older car anyway so could be different

david1972 Posted January 5, 2014 Author Posted January 5, 2014 Just finished washing the pride and joy....will have some early pics to share soon
david1972 Posted January 5, 2014 Author Posted January 5, 2014 Ok, here we go. A few age related marks here and there, but for a 10 year old car I have to say I'm pretty impressed with the condition :D 2
stants Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 Looks good :-) Have you a list of goodies you want for her yet ? 1
david1972 Posted January 5, 2014 Author Posted January 5, 2014 Thanks :) The only thing I really want, well three things actually come to think of it, are a dog guard, a plastic tray type boot liner and a resin rear bumper protector. All in the name of dog protection and comfort for our fella really. Replaced the rear wiper blade today as was a bit squeaky, not wiping too well and basically past it.
stants Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 Thats how it starts ! Slippery slope from there on in ;-)
david1972 Posted January 7, 2014 Author Posted January 7, 2014 Thanks for the comments guys. Boot liner arrived today, universal dog guard on the way and mobile fitter booked for Saturday to get my Kenwood Bluetooth head unit and mic swapped in. Happy days 1
stants Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 Which Bluetooth unit do you have ? I've got the kbt100 wich is obsolete now so theres no support and since the last android update i can't load my phonebook into the headunit. :-(
david1972 Posted January 7, 2014 Author Posted January 7, 2014 It's a Kenwood KDC-BT51U and has performed really well in the last couple of cars we've had it in. Also has added bonus of USB port to be able to play music from phone
stants Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 I cant fault mine its just doing my head in that before i could dial up people from the headunit. Last time i installed the numbers i plugged the phone straight in but now won't recognise it Mine has ipod and usb conectivity. How do you load your contacts in ?
david1972 Posted January 7, 2014 Author Posted January 7, 2014 They download automatically on connection
