bowthruster
Don't know if this is the right section to post this in.Got a letter from dvla today to say my license expires sept and I need to renew my photo every 10yrs now.I thought ok no problem its free.WRONG £20 yes £20 for the privilege! Copied my license and paperpart as I don't trust them not to lose it.Perhaps its me just being tight-but cant they do anything free.!Removed! dvla
Adam
Nope, £20 is the standard fee for the privilege of keeping your licence. At least you had a reminder, I didn't and I almost got caught out.

Scooby Pete
I'm still using my paper licence as I refuse to swap a perfectly legal document for their photo licence at my own cost. They should at least replace your licence free the first time and then sting you every ten years.
Mr B
I'm still using my paper licence as I refuse to swap a perfectly legal document for their photo licence at my own cost. They should at least replace your licence free the first time and then sting you every ten years. I'm doing exactly the same. Photo licence not a great asset as still has a !Removed! paper part & you need that too if visiting police station for doc check. My Dad renewed his recently as expired & they spelt his name wrong on new licence, absolute nightmare correcting that as wanted proof of his name change & obviously in this case he has not had a name change & it a typo on their part. Putting that *****-up right is proving difficult due to complete stupidity & lack of gumption from DVLA office :-S
Jay762
I contacted them when mine was close to expiring, sent the money in and asked for a new one to be issued - it then went back and forth as they wanted a new photo - I pointed out my head had not changed in the last 10 years and that they should just issue a new piece of plastic - sensibility reigned in the end ;)
