stants
Yep matt hit the nail on the head ! Either change yours or book in for a test and get it that way. Where it's kept overnight, what alarm you have, what postcode your in, how long you've owned the car all have a large part in how much you pay unfortunately. And tgy won't have much history on you
Martin959
Yeah... I think I can do this after 6 months or 1 year... will see... will call DVLA later and ask :) Thanks folks! :D

JusNoGood
Things that bump up insurance..., Age Lack of years driving. Pass at 38 and first two years will be very expensive. Accident and conviction history High theft area Different insurance companies specialise in different areas. Some steer clear of younger drivers and/or modified cars so pick on of those and they'll just give you a crazy price. A company good for your old man is quite likely not good for you. My insurance is £220 including breakdown and legal but I know the co I use hates anyone under 30. If you have a few of those then cost is going to rocket. Along with the site sponsors you could just bang you details into a comparison site like go compare to see what prices come back.
JusNoGood
I went to see a car in Kent and the fella was 26. He was paying £150 a month I think he said. Gambit, shall we do an insurance sticky? Seems to be a very popular question. I can put something together if you like?

Went through Compare the Market. 2nd year we got it down to £500 believe it or not. Funny thing, the guy who sold me the car, was on his 30 something, and he told me that the first year the insurance was quite high, but then the second year the insurance drastically dropped down... he didnt told me how much exactly he was paying at the moment... someone had this same thing also? stants
Yes if the car is new to you and a step up fom what you've been driving it can go down, They see you as less of a liability as you have shown that you can drive the car without killing you or anyone else. Mine was 750 last year this year 560 :-D
