Martin959 Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 Honestly, today talking with other people they told me that I was paying waaaaaaaay too much... Im currently 26, have a international drivers licence, driving a scooby wrx from the 97... How I could lower it? (currently paying arount 5000 pounds per year... madness...) Thanks! :)
Scooby Pete Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 Shop around. Give Keith Micheals a call as they specialise in performance cars. 1

Martin959 Posted August 29, 2014 Author Posted August 29, 2014 Yeah... just wondering WHICH is the KEY component that makes this outstanding price... :(
majik_thighs Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 Yeah... just wondering WHICH is the KEY component that makes this outstanding price... :( Gullibility?.............something with which they seem to prey on.
stants Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 Yep matt hit the nail on the head ! Either change yours or book in for a test and get it that way. Where it's kept overnight, what alarm you have, what postcode your in, how long you've owned the car all have a large part in how much you pay unfortunately. And tgy won't have much history on you 1
Martin959 Posted August 29, 2014 Author Posted August 29, 2014 Yeah... I think I can do this after 6 months or 1 year... will see... will call DVLA later and ask :) Thanks folks! :D
Nevell Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 I don't think it's right ,but I can see why people don't bother with insurance ....my brother just past his test ,the cheapest he been quoted is 1500 for a 1.1 ford fiesta worth 300 quid ,and he is 28 ,joke insurance companies...how to hell can they get away with it .

quit Posted August 30, 2014 Posted August 30, 2014 I paid 500 quid for a astra in 2002 and paid 600 to insure it lol
JusNoGood Posted August 30, 2014 Posted August 30, 2014 Things that bump up insurance..., Age Lack of years driving. Pass at 38 and first two years will be very expensive. Accident and conviction history High theft area Different insurance companies specialise in different areas. Some steer clear of younger drivers and/or modified cars so pick on of those and they'll just give you a crazy price. A company good for your old man is quite likely not good for you. My insurance is £220 including breakdown and legal but I know the co I use hates anyone under 30. If you have a few of those then cost is going to rocket. Along with the site sponsors you could just bang you details into a comparison site like go compare to see what prices come back. 1
JusNoGood Posted August 30, 2014 Posted August 30, 2014 I went to see a car in Kent and the fella was 26. He was paying £150 a month I think he said. Gambit, shall we do an insurance sticky? Seems to be a very popular question. I can put something together if you like? 1
stants Posted August 30, 2014 Posted August 30, 2014 Theres an insurance section at the bottom of the page mate, That sounds like my brother he was paying over a hundred quid a month on an astra 1
JusNoGood Posted August 30, 2014 Posted August 30, 2014 Oh ok [emoji2][emoji106] on phone so didn't see it.
stants Posted August 30, 2014 Posted August 30, 2014 No worries mate, I didn't want you to go to the trouble of writinv up loads of stuff only to find it's in there. If you want to have a look and see if you can add or want to put up any more info thatt would be useful always welcome we can sticky itt of needs be :-D
Martin959 Posted August 30, 2014 Author Posted August 30, 2014 So... in order to pay less I should: Get the UK driving licence. Do not crash. Get older Find the right insurance company Right? :P
JusNoGood Posted August 30, 2014 Posted August 30, 2014 Yep...and..., Move to a nicer area and buy a cheap 1.0ltr car and don't get caught speeding etc [emoji12]
Martin959 Posted August 30, 2014 Author Posted August 30, 2014 Yep...and..., Move to a nicer area and buy a cheap 1.0ltr car and don't get caught speeding etc [emoji12] Hahahah to the country side maybe... xD Buy a 1.0? Where is the fun there? xD The only fun car that I can imagine with that CC is this one...
majik_thighs Posted August 30, 2014 Posted August 30, 2014 When I got my 21 year old son insured for his 1 litre Yaris Endsleigh were by far the cheapest at £1500. Went through Compare the Market. 2nd year we got it down to £500 believe it or not.

Went through Compare the Market. 2nd year we got it down to £500 believe it or not. Funny thing, the guy who sold me the car, was on his 30 something, and he told me that the first year the insurance was quite high, but then the second year the insurance drastically dropped down... he didnt told me how much exactly he was paying at the moment... someone had this same thing also?
stants Posted August 30, 2014 Posted August 30, 2014 Yes if the car is new to you and a step up fom what you've been driving it can go down, They see you as less of a liability as you have shown that you can drive the car without killing you or anyone else. Mine was 750 last year this year 560 :-D
