  • Just got back from viewing my first Impreza and I loved it!! It's a Terzo with a P1 body kit, it drove really well the engine felt superb! The dump valve was hypnotic, I couldn't help setting it off

  • Yeah man, I've decided to leave it. There'll be another one soon enough. Although, looking every hour is probably overdoing it!!

  • Awesome, thanks mate. I'm going to look at another one on Saturday, this one apparently has an aircon problem. He said it's just the fan that's not working, but is there a more likely culprit that I s

Cool, how did you find going from the '5 to the Scooby? Did you notice a massive rise in fuel bills? How does the repair and maintenance work compare with regard to difficulty?

Looks awesome Matt, but I'm sticking with the saloon.

I was getting about 25-28mpg out of the mazda subaru between 21 urban and 32 motorway so not much difference, I don't do a massive amount of milage a week so 25-30quids worth of vpower does me. Learning to stay off boost and be sensible helps alot too :-D

Maintenance wise changed arb's shocks and various other bits o the mazda, I've not had the time to work on the subaruuas became a dad last year, but it's pretty much the same you can take it apart with a 10, 12, 14mm spanner and a couple of screwdrivers.

Parts wise only major difference in costs has been a cambelt and accessories change, about 200 for the mazda double for the scoob.

Scoobs are easy to take apart and rebuild , bet there isn't much room in the engine bay if a mx5 after you plug in your hair straiteners lol ? Scoob bay is tight but it's not too bad

Worst bit is rusted bolts !

Cool, that's settled my mind a bit. There was a little niggle in the back of my mind that it was going to be really expensive to run a Scoob, then when I saw the tightly packed engine bay I was a little overwhelmed!!

I've had to deal with a lot of rusted bolts and screws made of cheese on the Mazda, so that'll be nothing new. But at least I'll stop draining the battery when I forget to unplug the curlers!!

I'm bald as a coot so I had my clippers wired into the glove box :-D

Once you have a poke around the bay, it's not really that bad, remove the air box and washer bottle & rad and you can get at 90% of it

Yeah that's the stuff that gets in the way

Spark plugs are at the bottom ! Decent set of plugs is about 35 quid

At the bottom?! That's a new one, never heard of that before! I assumed they'd be at the top under the airbox or something! Is it a tough job to change them?

No mate,as long as you remove airbox and washer bottle theres room either side, bit tight if you've got hands like shovels, but otherwise its ok.Sorry forgot to say welcome to the site :)

Thanks man, you've all been really, really helpful with all of my noob questions!

Can go even further and loosen the engine mounts jack up slightly and evwn more access

I do it from the bottom on axle stands takes about 30 mins

I don't suppose anyone here lives near Kingston do they? The more I think about it, the more I like the Sccob I saw there. Only thing that's worrying me is the fact that I'm a noob and may have missed something when I looked at it, and it's a bit of a long way for me to keep going back to it. I was wondering (if anyone is local to it) if someone could take a look to make sure it's ok before I take the plunge? I'd hate to buy one with serious problems because it'd put me off Scoobs for life!!

Got a link mate ?

Only my opinion, I reckon he's asking a little too much there especially with no tax

Yeah, I'm thinking the same thing. I'm going to use that, and the interior fans and headliner (if I can ever find a rough price for one!) to try and do a bit of haggling.

Umm yeah I would be happy at 1600ish , it's got the rare wheels tho. !!

Look at it stone cold , pop the bonnet and start it up , put it under a slight load. ( about 2k ) and if you hear a rattle it groan walk away

Nice colour too

Have you tried Matty at MBDevelopments? He's a scooby breakers. Very helpful fella. He's in the trade section of Scoobynet

I do like the dark blue [emoji3]

that was the exact spec i was looking for when i was after my wagon, but my wagon had the PPP kit on and was a steal of a price so i wanted it really bad!

Arches look ok in the pictures, Easy way to check is get in the boot and shine a torch down the inner arches and look for rot, Its about 700 quid job to do properly as a worst case scenario!

Any service history with it ? Cambelt? Clutch? and crunches when it goes into gear?

I travel the uk for work but not in that area at the moment im afraid !

Shame you dont like wagons and looking the other week i had a nice v5 wagon that was pretty tidy for £700! then for a member on here would of chucked in all my spares off my blue one i dont use

I'll give Matty a try, cheers.

It has got service history, book has some stamps in it and there's loads of receipts for stuff. Cambelt and clutch were done recently if memory serves.

This is the arch rust:

And the roof:

usual rust spots, its not too bad on the roof, mine has a bit like that by the windscreen but i will remove it,  treat it then vinyl over

arches will rust quick tho!

Literally every single one I've looked at has rusty arches!! I think this one could be a winner!!

Would the amount of owners put people off? If I buy it I'll be its 9th owner!
