Congratulations on your Levorg! I've had mine for 2 1/2 year s and I'm very happy with it (although it is thirsty, so what it must be like to run a WRX or similar beggars belief!) Anyway, I had a loud clunk when reversing mine onto the drive once. I put it down to there being patchy snow and ice at the side of the road and the front tyres slipping and then gripping whilst on full lock. I get very faint noises occasionally now (when it is cold and wet) when reverse on, but I think this is the block paving on the road (feature part of the estate!) and the tyres slipping slightly over the general crud in the joints (this is when it's hot, returning from work.) It doesn't clonk / knock on the uneven and in need of repair roads around here during normal driving. Is there a kerb outside your drive? It may be slipping off the concrete and onto the tarmac and shocking (for want of a better word) the suspension. I'm still on the OE Dunlops and they are not great when it's cold and wet. Hope this helps.

It's not the brakes. The lip on the discs is noticeable but no worse than on our cars (both around 25k miles) and there is no noise from them unless it has rained and the first brake application has to remove the surface rust. The hissing sound in the video is similar to what my car emits when idling from cold as I'm scraping the windows in the morning. I don't know what the motor is doing but there must be various valves opening as it warms up, and they all make a hissing sound. As it seems to be speed related (and therefore, possibly, rpm related?), I would go with your idea of the torque converter / clutch beginning to lock-up. It must be pressure controlled so the noise could be coming from a valve activating the lock-up mechanism? Is there an automatic gearbox specialist in your area that you could take it? You'll probably get no joy from the dealer until you replace the discs so it may be worth a trip?

There is this place just north of Luton on the A6... http://www.devilspit.co.uk/offroad/ I've been thinking about going for a while now but not got round to it (plus the XV is hers and she's not as keen!) Maybe the time is coming?

Assuming you have the built in sat-nav, I was sent this link from Subaru UK... https://subaru-eu-mapupdate.naviextras.com/shop/portal You can download a SubaruGen2 toolbox and update the SD card. I have downloaded it and read the card but found the cost was the wrong side of £200 for 2017 maps (this was in May!) I decided to stick with the 2013 maps (in a 2016 car 🙄) and wait until the 2019 release (as they seem to be done every two years) before trying again. I haven't yet but I may try again this weekend and see if the latest maps are available. It was straightforward as far as I went, you just need a micro SD card reader, which are readily available from your local tropical rainforest.

This was posted on my local "Moaning Villagers" page on FaceStalk... https://www.cambridge-news.co.uk/news/local-news/snow-rain-met-office-weather-17239145?fbclid=IwAR03J0mEbWWXTcuzgTmRIR6Wr1Lr8cr4Uvm5gHC3t-do1QipjaNmdKRcJiw Highly unlikely to reflect the image, but good choice Cambs News!

This 7 mph thing is really odd! Have you tried rolling away in neutral yet? You could try it with the engine running and also with just the ignition on, just to see if it still grinds at 7 mph? Also, have you tried crawling along at 5 mph for a while before accelerating up beyond 7 to see if it still does it? (Sorry, this is beginning to bug me now, although not nearly as much as it does you, obviously!)
-
Well that's probably ruled out the handbrake, at least. Did you get any joy from the dealers?
-
I've had another thought... Do you keep "Hill Start Assist" on? The 7 mph bit may be something to do with when the system fully releases the handbrake? Good luck and I hope you get it sorted tomorrow!
-
If it only does it after being parked up for a while I would guess at the electric handbrake not releasing fully or the rear pads sticking a little. You could try taking it for a spin then parking up without the handbrake, just leaving it in Park, and then seeing if it still makes the noise the next time you drive it? (This doesn't explain the 7 mph bit, of course!)

Looks like it's the day for washing 😄

The day I picked up the Levorg it went off and would not reset (following the procedure as Ernie desribed.) I took it back a couple of days later (once the dealer had received some new valves, just in case) and they reset it after plugging it in to their magic machines. It has been fine since then (14 months.) Even after a puncture it would reset until the pressure dropped some more. I reset it again once the puncture was repaired and not had a peep from it. Apparently the battery in the valve is only good for a few years (in general, not just Subaru) so that may be the problem.

Help on XV service history please
SebP10 replied to Eagerbeaver's topic in New Members Introductions
Hi and welcome! I think all Subaru's only have a digital service history now. Last year our 2017 XV (new) and 2016 Levorg (1 year old) only came with a service schedule booklet that has spaces for the corrosion warranty inspections but nothing for the service stamps of old. A Subaru dealer should be able to look it up and print it off for you. -
The "Service and Warranties Booklet" isn't XV specific, it's generic (hey, this is Subaru!) Grainy photo attached... (Although there was a 1.6 XV in the early days, around 2012)

Hi and welcome The passenger airbag is automatically turned on when sufficient weight is on the front seat. It stayed off when I treated my 4 1/2 year old daughter to a trip in the front (even with the weight of the booster seat) but switches on if either me or the Mrs is sitting there. Can't help you with the handsfree I'm afraid as ours is 2017 and has the Starlink radio, which I think is quite different from the earlier units.
-
Sorry about the poor quality. The scanner is misbehaving so had to use the phone.
-
The service book that came with our 2017 XV states 12k / 12M for normally aspirated 1.6, 2.0 and 2.5 petrol engines. I've (hopefully) attached the service schedule below...

Finally got the headlights to do the "light you home" thing on Sunday Despite following the instructions in the manual for the past year (or not, as it appears ) it worked, just around the longest day . Worked on the Levorg too, which had also proved troublesome. I have no idea what I was doing wrong but I was Captain Chuffed all day! So much so it was "Man fix car; man deserve beer" and treated myself to a couple in the sun at the pub Sometimes it's the small things that make the difference. (All I need now is for the sat-nav to detect traffic and my life will be complete!)
-
Oooh... The downside to 8.7" of ground clearance and a good departure angle...
-
Looks like there may be another XV around here, then, unless it was another lost Center Parcs customer!
-
You weren't in Lidlington today, were you Ernie? I'm 95% sure I saw a bright red 2018 XV around 2 pm. (It was behind a hedge and then a wall, but the tail lights looked XV-ish, as did the roof rails.) As you're in Bedfordshire too and I've only seen one other XV since July (64-reg, although I have seen it three times!) I thought I'd ask.

Got this "polished" out of the Mrs's car on Monday... The gatepost at her mum's suddenly decided to leap out as she was turning in. Damn thing hadn't moved at all in the previous 28 years! Still, it came up nicely, with a new door, sill and wheel-arch trim😣
-
On ours (2017) the display between the clocks is toggled by using the up and down arrows on the steering wheel, just below the indicator stalk. This can be set to just show stop time and fuel saved constantly, rather than just when the engine cuts out. Try flicking them when the ignition is on to see if it changes, as they may have been knocked during the service.

Thanks for the welcome. We love our cars (plus I secretly always wanted an estate!) I do like having unusual cars, but, since getting the pair last summer, and then actively looking for Subarus whilst out and about, I feel slightly sorry for the rest of the car-buying public, as I'm amazed at how few I see (I doubt I've seen many more than 20 individual cars since July, and there are four others in the village.) Still, it's their loss!...
-
Howdy! We decided to upgrade our transportation last year and ended up with a couple of nice Subarus. The wife was a little sceptical when I suggested it - Colin McRae was mentioned (plus I used to do a bit of rallying back in the day) - but when I showed her the cars she warmed up. After a trundle to the dealers for some brochures and then another for a test drive she ended up with a new XV 2.0i SE Premium, which she loves. It paid for itself in the snow a couple of weeks back too (is there a smug-face one of these things?!) Anyway, I've found some useful information on here so I thought I'd sign up and perhaps pass on some of my (limited) experience. Oh, and I got a Legacyrevolutiontouring from the IM fleet, which I like Cheers, Seb.
