  1. Welcome to the forum, only thing to bear in mind with the impreza engines is servicing, every 5k or 6months, use quality oil rather than cheaper stuff, millers oil is what a lot of high performance guys use, other than that not much else to say really, apart from, learn the limits of the handling in ALL conditions, first time I drove mine in icy weather and I floored it coming out of a corner and drifted nearly a quarter mile with the !Removed! end in oncoming traffic, sounds funny but I was inches from the oncoming car when I got it back under control lol
  2. Yeh I can get tickets over the phone but I'd rather know what's wrong, my tester tells me then when he's given me the fail sheet he tells me what needs doing for him to pass it, he told me to price up the standard system before he gave me a pass, when I told him it was near £800 for the cats he said "I'll go print your pass certificate" lol
  3. No worries pal, didn't want you to have a mint car and corroding wheels
  4. rwd ftmfw, i was going to say rolling radius but last time i said that to someone they wanted a full explanation and wanted to know how to solve it with getting different tyres, i spent the best part of 2 days hunting the net for a calculator to get him the sizes he needed only for him to say, "oh i sold em yesterday pal" so sorry for tarring you with the same brush but you never know how much other people know about these things until you mention it, glad i didn't have to go through all the jazz i did with the last person lol now i've said that someone else will probaby pop up asking, as for what to do with them, you can buy a self alloy repair kit that has all the fillers and stuff to fix kerbing, as a cheap turnaround it may be worth trying that if your going to sell them on, also the VW scene are always wanting rare wheels and although most vag cars are 4x100, 5x100 and 5x112 there are so many owners running adapters so they can put porsche wheels (5x130) on a mk2 golf (4x100) so theres a massive market in that area for you, and the afore mention wheel whores is a great place to sell for silly money too
  5. if you have a nice mot tester like mine, he may not give a flying fff...squirrel whats fitted, my tester is ok with certain things as long as the cars safe
  6. yeh, i have caught him a few times in the garden at night, i won't go into details but suffice to say, i'd rather see my 35 stone mother in law being taken from behind by her 23 stone boyfriend
  7. there is a forrester forum that may be able to help with spoiler info clicky
  8. ok, heres the pic of the face/style and the tread on another if you are interested i will get the actual depths for you heres the tyre size and this is between the spokes, all wheels between spokes are mint, i think the wheels were polished face with lacquer but the lacquer has gone, as they are quite flat ish they souldn't be too hard to sand and polish or paint they aren't my wheels so after you have seen the pics if you are still interested i will ask the owner how much he wants for them
  9. they are 16's, i'll go get a pic
  10. under the bonnet is easier, drivers side front wing, if theres a box with pipes coming from it on the chassis leg that's the ABS pump
  11. i do like them, only seen one other set of them about 3 years ago on a VW, and that scene prides itself on rare and unusual rims you can find rare rims here as for sizes, you do know you can't run staggered rims on a 4 wheels drive?
  12. here are some examples of his work, he's only got pics of his old hawk eye on there not his classic but you can see some of the work he's done is just amazing, the porsche 944 is especially good
  13. next time i go get some products i'll take some pics of his car, if he's not sold it yet, he's just bought a mk2 vw scirroco, D reg and less than 50k on the clock, it's an absolute minter, totally original, he was banned from a local subaru forum so is going down the vw scene instead
  14. i have noticed you have wheel weights in the edge of the rim, alloys are suppose to have stick on weight inside the rim, the clip on ones like you have will corrode the finish on the rim and make it go all funky, if you can i would take it to be balanced again and ask for the stick on weights
  15. if it's been remapped you can make the pops and bangs happen at will, in any gear take it to 3.5k rpm's, let off the throttle and when it drops to 3k rpm hold the throttle at that revs if you can, if it's been remapped it will bang until you change revs, if it's just a decat causing it then it's a similar principal but with 2.5k rpm and it isn't guaranteed to happen with just a decat, but will do it more when hot than cold
  16. I like slammed cars but on an impreza that would ruin the awesome handling characteristics, as for the calibre vintage wheels (at a guess) I've always liked the look of a set of bbs splits on an impreza as it's not something you see that often, I say if you like it then go for it
  17. I'm on my phone most of the time on my s3,i leave this one page on the forum and open other pages for other activities, my phone has given me the mobile version and it's a low Fi version of the web page, if you scroll to the top of the page there should be a box of little white squares, press that and bottom left you should see "new content" press that and any new posts since your last visit will then appear Welcome aboard too, hood to have some far and away members
  18. Welcome to the forum, sounds like you have a De cat pipe fitted, mine does it too, especially when I've been booting it and the turbo is red hot, you might get the odd flame too
  19. To be honest if your doing car cleaning for a living does it not defeat the object if you can't keep your own clean?
  20. On the impreza they are on both strut tops, both have the chassis number one has weights and the other paint codes etc and yes the chassis number will be like that
  21. Mines a version 3 (97) and that has abs, dogmas first impreza was one of the first to be producedand iI'm sure that had it too
  22. No worries, sorry I can't help further
  23. Not sure about spoilers to be fair, if you want a set of standard forrester alloys for it I have a set in the garden, they all have Michelin tyres with very good tread, the faces need a good clean but in between all the spokes they are mint
  24. Yeh, you won't get the golf look from bulbs, however there is some dials called plasma glow that are quite close but as far as I'm aware that's the only ones that light up
