What have you done to your Subaru today ?
Can't be mate, we were messing with the wiring to them for hours. Trying all sorts of combinations and taking supplies from elsewhere. Nothing worked. The most confusing thing was how they worked the opposite way to how I want them... He's already replied about the headlights. Seems to be a good enough guy thankfully! Offered to take them back and re seal them plus a bit of money back so I'm happy (ish) at that.

AAAAAAARRRRGGGGHHHHH!!!!!!!!! !Removed! CARS!!!! Why does nothing ever go right? First of all, the headlights. Fitted, looked great. Washed the car and this happened: Condensation all on the inside of the lense. FFS!!!!! Same on the other side too. Promised me they didn't do this! Just sent him a message, been polite to start with. Will just wait to see his reply. 2nd, those !Removed! gauges! Meant to have the option to light up white in day and amber at night (lights on) or vice versa. Martin wired them in, did a great neat job, and when testing... !Removed! knows what's happened. They light up Amber with lights on, lights off - they just switch off. The actual !Removed!!? But get this, swap the wires round, they will turn on and light up Amber with lights off and switch to White when lights are on. Why the hell do they work one way but just switch off the other? It makes no sense at all. Working this way is useless too as they will just blind me at night, who wants bright white gauges at night? After hours of messing about trying to get them to work we gave up and I've just got them Amber all the time. Only problem with this is they are really difficult to see in daylight. Lastly, due to all this messing about with the gauges and other things it's too late to go to JAE tonight so now I'm going tomorrow instead. Been one of those days..... .... .... !Removed! it, I'm off to pub now.

Some goodies :) Bought them already done from a member on Scoobynet. And as with everything I seem to buy from that site and just because it's me, they're not in the best condition (even though the pics looked good) - lightly scratched lenses, one of the bolt brackets snapped off in the post and he must have been rough when separating them as the backing lip is pretty rough. However I got them over £100 cheaper than they normally go far, I've managed to sort most of the lens scratches with some wet & dry sandpaper and elbow grease. I've used some plastic weld to fix the middle support bracket back on which has set solid now and coloured black with a sharpie pen to take the edge off lol. Luckily it's not a important one should be fine. & while the lip is a bit rough there's plenty of sealant there and have been assured they don't mist or steam up at all which is the main thing. Should be fitting tomorrow now they're respectable :) My new gauges and pod! :) should be fitted tomorrow too before heading to JAE. Soz for the poor pic. stupid phone! Finally got my Dr Colourchip stuff through too. Took 2 weeks but understandable if they do actually get the genuine OEM paint for you. Looks a good kit but won't have time to try it until next weekend now I reckon.

JAE ?
Thankfully the lot I go with aren't like that. Plus there's a nice variety with them as some members move on but stayed on the site and go to meets due to the people. Last year we had 2 Scoobs of different generations, a S15, Evo 9, mx-5 and a couple others that have currently slipped my mind. The S15 will be making a return and one of the lads who should be coming has a R33 GTR. Have you got a link to the map which shows where each club is?

Haha I just pick any parts I like from other owners cars and get them for mine ;)

Which Newage Gauges?
No problem. I've bit the bullet and ordered them now. Decided on the 3 I posted links for since they have alarm warning noises whereas the blue ones don't. Figured I'd usually be too focused on the road when driving hard to notice if one of the dials suddenly went too high so them giving a warning noise will be helpful.

Recommended 500 miles last time. Pagid recommend that too. But think I might give them a bit longer this time. Dave said he's had this happen before at Lexus, just ended up being a dodgy lot so hopefully it was just that. Otherwise I'm looking at skimming them or buying some drill or grooved discs that are better at taking the heat/punishment. Bet you don't feel too gutted about not being able to get that remap now do you? Must have made a big difference looking at your old ones.

Dr Colourchip
Well I've decided to take a chance and try it out for us all ;) Ordered the cheaper pack to start with which does up to 24 chips. When it comes and I've tried it I will report back with pics.

Good to hear mate :) Sat well after he'd finished. My 2 new discs appear to have sorted the judder :). He's going to send my 2 back, think they may have been part of a dodgy set so didn't cost anything either. Just got to bed them in again now. I'm like Ash counting down the miles now before I can give it some again haha. Least I can still go fast on straights though :)

Which Newage Gauges?
Sounds good mate. Thanks for the feedback guys. Also I've been looking round a bit more and found I can get it cheaper by buying it separately: Oil temp and pressure kit - http://www.scoobyworld.co.uk/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=68&products_id=2099 £29.15 Defi pod - http://www.scoobyworld.co.uk/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=68&products_id=1517 £144.99 And then buy the gauges from R Spec: Boost - http://rspec.co.uk/performance-gauges/stepper-motor-peak-series/52mm-smoked-stepper-motor-peak-turbo-boost-gauge-bar £56.99 Oil Pressure - http://rspec.co.uk/performance-gauges/stepper-motor-peak-series/52mm-smoked-stepper-motor-peak-oil-pressure-gauge-bar £63.99 Oil Temp - http://rspec.co.uk/performance-gauges/stepper-motor-peak-series/52mm-smoked-stepper-motor-peak-oil-temperature-gauge-degc £52.99 Bringing me to £348.11. Nice £25+ saving there :). Posted links for anyone else looking too ;). I wouldn't need anything else would I? The gauges say they come with senders and fitting kit. Edit - the blue ones are even cheaper at £40 each.. http://rspec.co.uk/b-gauges-b/blue-stepper-motor-series Hmmmm...

Yea they're nice but got to admit I prefer the sweeping needle to having digits in middle :)

Detailing Thread.
Lots of good info there Ash, thanks for that. Haven't got anything to add though I'm afraid, just been using most of those same techniques when doing my own research. :)

Dr Colourchip
Just seen in the most recent email there's a discount with this company now. Had never heard of it before but done a little research and sounds pretty good. Just wondered if anyone else has ever heard or used it before? Is it worth getting?

New tyre time need advise,
Just like to add to this again now I've got a few hundred - 1000 miles on my Vredesteins. Now they've worn in a bit the grip has increased by a pretty big amount, they're almost on par with the Parada's I had in the dry now and still great in the wet too. Brilliant tyres!

Which Newage Gauges?
Asked this before a while ago but the thread went missing when we had that little problem. Im after a triple gauge pod with Oil Temp, Oil Pressure and boost gauges. I've got a max budget of £400 for this including everything bar fitting - the pod, gauges, sender, oil fitting kit etc. I've been thinking of buying the Scoobyworld Prosport package with Defi pod. Comes in at a mighty £375 - http://www.scoobyworld.co.uk/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=68&products_id=1538 But before I go ahead and get it just wondered if any of you could recommend any others? Preferably cheaper haha :) Cheers

A drive into THE PEAK DISTRICT and meet up with other subaru clubs
Anyone fancy a mini convoy there? I've got to drive over the snake to get to the starting point so if anyone wants to join me feel free :). I probably won't be going slow though so bear that in mind if you do ;).

What have you done to your Subaru today ?
Got a early finish from work so thought I'd fit my new splitter I didn't have chance to do over weekend. As per usual nothing I do on cars is simple even when it's what's meant to be a easy job :( . Went to remove first bolt and... Snap! Bugger! Went to next one and felt same so decided to leave it. Haven't got a good way of raising it off the ground to drill them out and not messing about taking bumper off so going to ask Martin to do it for me when I see him on Saturday instead lol. Or at least ask to borrow his lift.

Problem is they'll not be able to admit to known faults unless the public pressure is big enough due to the money and bad publicity it will cost them. It's better for them to try an hide it. And in this day and age with compo, claims etc being as it is companies will do everything they can to not admit fault. It's like that at my place. Is something goes wrong on a job even if I know it's out company that's caused it, it could basically cost me my job to do so. It's !Removed! **** but unfortunately it's how business is these days.
