24th January South Yorkshire Meet.
mfnick replied to Ash007ks's topic in Yorkshire & The Humber Regional Meets
I'd be up for that, would feel less tired since I'm not at work all day too. And since we'd have all day some of us could even go for a drive/food/drink after the meet if we wanted. -

He's disappeared again. Martin said same, once his car was fixed he never hears from him anymore lol -
We had quite a lot in Sheffield last time, think we'll miss it on this occasion since it's not even showing signs yet. Mind you, even last time I didn't get out much. Too worried about other people in normal 2WD cars who can't even drive in a bit of rain losing control and hitting my car.

What have you done on your games today?
mfnick replied to Gaulson's topic in Games/Console/Computer Nerd Room
I've been playing a lot of Driveclub these last few weeks. !Removed! what the reviewers say, it's actually brilliant! If any of you were a fan of the PGR games I highly recommend it. -
Remember to Check Your Arches People! Even on Early Newages
mfnick replied to mfnick's topic in General Subaru Chat
Yea I've heard of it getting under the spoiler too. 1 job at a time though ;). Worse case, it's easier to get a new boot that replace the rear panels though haha Can't say I've got any at the seals though thankfully. -

Yea you're doing really well if that's all you've got. Must be doing a good job with your clean down and oiling up ;) . I've seen many that are about the same age as yours that are completely knackered around there. I just had him check the boost levels as my gauge has been showing it to be high. Turns out it's just my gauge, it's rubbish lol. Well, I say that but he says it's quite common with some makes of gauges. More details are in the "what have you done to your Subaru today" thread. -

Yea I've been cleaning mine out regularly but it's not been enough - unless part of the damage had already done with the previous owner if he didn't do them much. Could do with jacking it up to give them a proper scrub out from time to time. Can't believe how much salt is on the road still either. Just from the 30 min drive to and from GR mine has gone from being clean to having white spray marks all over. :( -
Just a friendly reminder guys to keep thoroughly checking and cleaning the inside of your arches. Found a couple of very small bubbles starting to develop on my rear arches on my 2003 Impreza :(. :( . Just speaking to a mate who has a bugeye and he's got them forming on his too. The newages are still far better than the classics with their rear arches but still not impervious and seems the earlier ones are now starting to show signs. I've just booked it in to get the bad metal cut out, new put in with full rust treatment, respray and waxoyl and a full check and rustproofing on the other side and rest of the car - which isn't showing any signs yet but got to be safe.

Yep, I get that exact response when getting anything for the car too. I had my map checked today as it's been boosting high. At least that's what my gauge said. Turns out my gauge is very, very inaccurate and slow to respond. Its not boosting high at all even watched it via the computer while he had it on the roller and it doesn't reach anywhere near the level it shows on the gauge. Result! No problems there. Just a gauge I can't trust lol. Oh well, he'd already built safety cut offs in just over the boost level he's set it at so it will cut and try throwing me through window before it overboosts anyway. Still set the peak warning at 2bar now as it should never be able to reach even on the gauge that unless something has gone catastrophically wrong and I should still have time to stop it doing serious damage.

Gutted, I thought the same about Taken 2, hoped they'd have improved this one. :( my mates and I still take the **** with that final scene where he kills the main guy at the end with a tap on the forehead with his palm. We do that to each other whenever someone's acting up lol. Are any of those kick plates available with STi logos?
-
Yea, I realise it's not a club do, just don't want to be there on my tod lol! Didn't realise it's a Friday though, I'll have to sort something too...
-
I'm in if there's any more members willing to commit.
-
Haha I noticed othat too. That's Gaz, he's the guy who owns the place and did my remap. Top bloke, really good laugh! :)
-
Here you go, sorry the pics aren't great but hopefully you can see it well enough.
-
When I was getting my car sorted for remap there was an Evo in with Kawasaki green callipers and engine bay parts. It looked awesome. I'll try and find a pic. I just got a Streetwize (Urgh at the name!). It's a cheapo one since it's 240v not battery. But I've tested it out on a little but of trim I had spare and seems to work really well :). It's mega fast, just have to make sure not to press on at all and let it "glide". I'll give you some proper feedback when I've given it a proper go no prob.
-
No Probs Dave. Unfortunately I think it's just a case of more elbow grease needed ;) Speaking of which, to help lower the amount of elbow grease needed when washing & polishing I got a pressure washer and Orbital polisher for Christmas :D looking forward to when the weather lets me use them.

Good to see you're not dead mate! Wondered what the hell happened to you. Belated merry Xmas and happy new year ;) -
Careful with that traffic film remover stuff. I found out its that which ruined my alloys, so if you haven't got a normal paint on your wheels, DO NOT USE IT!!! Or at least tape up your alloys first. I had a hyper finish on mine and hear it ruins Matt finishes too.
-
Just remember, yea it's 4 wheel drive but without winter or all weather tyres it's not going to be much better than any other car.
-
Merry Christmas you lot! Hope you all have a great day!
-
Great pic Gambit. Also got to praise your paint skills there too haha!

Don't get a Hawk! Save a bit of money and get a 2005 Blobeye. Might even be able to get a STi one which will save a bit of money modding a WRX with STi parts as everyone seems to end up doing. It has the brill DCCD gearbox and the much more reliable 2l engine as well as the Hawk interior. It's basically the Hawk model but with the more reliable engine and obviously looks different, though not a massively and the Blobs just as good looking IMO. Plus if you get one made early enough in 2005 the tax halves. If you're getting a Hawk you really, really have to look after that engine, they are known to go pop. Talking £2k+ repair bill if it happens.

Just to bring this back up again, I've noticed mine has started boosting up to 1.8bar when I fully put my foot down! Only does it for a second before dropping back down to 1.4 bar. Any ideas? Or could it be just how it's mapped with the mods - Harvey smith up pipe with full decat 3" exhaust in particular. It's always boosted a bit higher when first putting foot down but Martin said not to worry about it. Not notice it that high before. Also doesn't go high if I keep speed up when changing gear or if I do launch control. Just seems odd. May even be my gauge lol. Either way I've stopped driving it hard for now. Will take it to Martin to have a look when I next get time, unless you lot have any ideas.
