  1. to me the ecu is getting confused, you are meant to remap it when fitting a dump valve, some guy did a video of him putting dump valve on and it was running rough.
  2. buying a used car is hit and miss, you gotta have service history, check the mot history to see if the owners looked after it. it could be a nice car but then turn into a money pit. you should be looking at a few at a time to see which you liked more. 2.5 suffer from ringland failure, rust is a killer for some cars. you gotta look from all angles when buying one, has been in a crash if so was it repaired without cost in mind or repaired cheaply, if he said the car had work done on it, does it have proof of it. you can get a low mileage car and it drives rubbish or get a high mileage car and drives fine.
  3. i brought my car at the start of November 2019, i went to try to tax the car at the end of November to start on the 1st December and they was a Chinese man (not being racist), he was coughing like crazy and he did not even cover his mouth while coughing. i believe he had covid back then.
  4. buy a sniff test tool. have the car warmed up and test to see if the head gasket has gone. the seller should be ok with this being done if not then see when they were done if not walk away.
  5. i hate it when you ask a garage how much they charge for a timing belt to be changed, they only chance the belt, why do all that work to not change the timing rollers and idlers, it would make sense to change the whole timing belt with a timing belt kit, but that is extra, i would be pi##ed off if a timing idler failed after they changed the timing belt. they also charge extra for a water pump aswell, it kinda stupid that well known garages charge extra for something that is important to be working. why not include the cost of timing belt kit and water pump into the price.
  6. you know i work in a garge for 6 to 7 years and i done load of head gasket and i never had a bottom end fail on a high end car or a low end car. i seen it so many times when people have forged their cars then the engine fails less than 1,500 miles. i seen something that garages have done to customers car. i seen it all most of the worst work. the main reason why bottom end fail is due to 1) poor maintenance, 2) poor driving, 3) crappy off the shelf remaps. i never had a customer bring their car back with bottom end knocking after doing a head gasket. some subaru garage don't even replace timing idlers or water pump that is extra. why are you going to change an important component like timing belt and not change the timing rollers or idler and water pump. why is it extra for something that they teach you when learning about car mechanics, i am on subaru facebook pages and i seen people say from £3,000 to £4,300 to forge their engine and it fails less than 1,500 miles and that owners then has to folk out to repair it himself. when i did a head gasket i changed the seals and gasket on the head at the same time, some subaru garages don't even do that, if i was doing a timing belt that i put my name on that work than i would get a timing belt kit and water as well.
  7. no. i have not picked the car up yet. the garage where it is has been keeping me updated with how it is going. he said before me dropping the car off. he would look into what is wrong with the car as it drives fine but sometime the car might try to over heat. he did say he would check the block to see if that was the problem when i spoke to him before dropping the car. he rang me after doing his check that the block was fine and the bottom end was OK. he said that when i pick the car up he will show me the worn clutch. the car did have a problem with going from 2nd into first. so i will see the parts that he taken off when i picked up the car sometime next week. i am going to say it was a exedy clutch. the only think that said the head gasket was gone was a sniff test. the car drove fine not going to lie. the car engine was fine. i looked after it and so i am guessing the other owners did too but ask say for 100% that was true.
  8. just rang them and no they are not doing the bottom end. he look into the engine before starting the job. he only said the car needed clutch. he said the bottom end is fine.
  9. to tell you the truth i believe so, i will find out when picking up the car. they had the clutch off so i am guessing they did.

  11. Anybody uses PS now just wondering if it is any good? Can you unlocked trophies on there as well? just wondering if it is any good.
  12. do you know what subaru dealer it was registered with? if so you can ask subaru to see if it has any history from being looked after by them. you can always email subaru and see what history they got for it.
  13. i am playing gta san andreas on the ps4. love it.
  14. I don't vape but i do smoke signature blue cigars.
  15. i was going to ask the same question. i see them for sales but don't want to buy something that is rubbish.
  16. here is one from a dealer https://www.adamsbrothers-subaru.co.uk/used/subaru/impreza/impreza-wrx-sti-type-cs400-cosworth/aylesbury/buckinghamshire/19425966/
  17. it is a hard answer to be fair. if that was me. i would walk away with pride. only service history up till 41,000 miles is not a good thing. you need to know if it had an engine work done. if it is a lemon then it going to cost you a lot to repair and 44,000 miles with any service history is going to make it hard to resell.
  18. for the window that is slow, spray wd-40 down the side of the runners and work it up and down till it gets better. spray it a few times till it goes back to normal then clean the window afterwards.
  19. i know what you are saying, i don't have proof that my engine is forged, i believe it has been remapped at one point. If i was going to do a engine build i would of gotten a closed deck. i would of loved to do it myself but don't have tool nor space to do it. slow boy asked me if my car was remapped as i said i don't know as i don't have proof. they said they were going to check and make sure it set up back to the setting it went it with.
  20. i was looking at pp parts list for a rebuild and it don't say about changing pistons or con-rod. this is what they do for a rebuild and to me that ain't going to stop ring land failure. Full strip down Engine seal kit ACL race bearings Hardened 79mm crankshaft Rebuild Oil modine Spark plugs Motorsport multi layer steel gaskets Thermostat Timing Belt Rocker gasket Cam seals Crank seals Full decontamination Clean and measure Oil & Filter Coolants
  21. the car is not going to pp. i got bad vibes from them. they were pushing me to get my engine forged then trying to push towards rebuild cost that starts from £2,250 plus £300 for head studs and £75 for water. They said he would get back with me with the price for picking car up from west london, i rang at 9.20 in the morning still got nothing. i got the feeling they can't be arsed to do it. i rang slow boy racing and slow boy asked more questions than pp about what i wanted to be done. slow boy said at just under 70k miles it don't need a rebuild. They did not pressure me into forging my engine either but told me what was needed to be done with best and wrong price. i got better feeling from slow boy racing then from pp.
  22. have you tried this store on ebay https://www.ebay.co.uk/usr/rallyflapz_store?_trksid=p2047675.l2559
  23. I know what you are saying, I was looking to sell the car before i knew the head gasket was bad. It was driven before i did the sniff test and it drove fine, it did not try to over heat or even get hot.(kinda strange) i am weight up the cost of doing the head gasket and rebuilding it. I am going to take it to pp and see what they say when sorting it out. I understand the problems with the 2.5 engine. To be fair if i had the space to do it, i would have done it myself. I used to work as a mechanic and i have rebuilt engine before. I don't have the space nor tools to carry out the rebuild myself. I have owned the car since November 2019 and it never over heated but it has tried to and i let it cool down and drove home safety, I know it would sell for more if the engine was rebuild and i trust pp to be fair in what the car needs.
  24. i am just waiting for pp to get back to me with a quote on picking the car up. the funny thing is that it drive fun. it was driven a few days before finding the head gasket has gone. it drove fine and did not try to over heat. it just over heats sometimes (not that many times).
