Tlag I didn't like those pods either but, i thought the pillar pods look fairly oe as their a full a pillar trim (not a add on) Do like the look of the touch screen you've found though does it work directly off the odb port or do they have to run off a aftermarket ecu ? Pete my brv used to have a old school knock link on his v1sti works well but, my esl will flash the eml if I get knock and so does his apexi ;-) Stanton I like the look of that bud simple to read at a glance , which is probably the only thing that annoys me about mine . As when the sun hits it you can't see the voltage reading :-( Mick I don't think the 3 pod looks rubish just to time attack for my liking of the oe look. My mate had 3 white defi gauges in a pod in his classic and they looked sweet . He did have a matt black charge speed kitted 550+ 2.1 with a straight cut dog box , screemer pipe and no interior .so they looked at home in his race spec road car

didn't even know you could download apps for the pc thought you could only do that on android/I phone don't think ill be getting any sort of new monitoring device for a while as ive got a big list of mods to tick off first ,but I might consider getting some sort of p.c eventually if they're cheaper or better than a toucan touch screen
-
Ooo I like that :-) Seems to have a lot of info up for grabs bonus of clearing and reading codes too
-
A mate of mine bought a blue tooth interface which works off the odb II and downloaded the torques app which has a track recorder here's a screen shot dunno how accurate it is but it looks like it works in real time as well as logging data , I'll get a bit more info if you want gambit ;-)
-
I've never bought anything from them (so no idea about their quality) and it doesn't look like they do legacy bit's :-( but here's the link for the pods anyways http://www.nomadracing.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=55&osCsid=2c527ab690a476cc10c2eade72f7cfd6

I'd like to eventually get a toucan set up (lcd screen that shows parameters) but would need a simtec or alcertek ecu to get it up n running . the depo gauge gives me the info I need for now ,but would like something that monitors egt and det in the future. Tlag I did spot a complete pillar trim (from dash to headlining) for the impreza when I was researching pods that looked oe I'll try to dig a link out bud ;-)

No alarm /peak setting I'm afraid but, oil pressure is more important than boost imo as if you loose boost you know by performance but, if you loose oil pressure you know by a knocking sound (to late lol) Oil temp is handy to as I need to know when my pistons are warm enough to take a spanking ;-)

Merry Christmas from everyone at Opie Oils
savage bulldogs replied to oilman's topic in General Subaru Chat
Thanks Tim, I received a email from you with a 25% off voucher :-) So promptly ordered some millers nano drive oil and mahle filter at a bargain price . All the best for the new year , bud clive -
Seen quite a few people fitting gauges and pods on here and wondered if anyone else has got or seen one of these 4 in 1 gauges I fitted to mine . I know it's now defi quality but i only paid £100 (including pp and a fitting kit) and its been fitted a yr or so with no issues .I'm not a fan of to many instruments cluttering my view but wanted to keep a eye on oil temp and pressure as well as boost .

a few pics of my project so far
savage bulldogs replied to savage bulldogs's topic in Subaru Build Threads
I'd gladly help anyone as I enjoy being a spanner monkey now I don't do it full time :-) I did manage to chuck a sponge at the scooby yesterday but didn't manage to get a coat of wax or back to black on it before the rain came and I retreated to the man cave . here's a pic of how she looks at the moment have been thinking about fitting a sport bonnet ( no scoop ) for added sleeper factor but I do like the look of the scooby scoop . did a bit of work on the 2 pot rears managed to strip the old paint off and get 1 coat of scooby blue on them repainted -
a little project thread of my turbo 2000
savage bulldogs replied to davievtec's topic in Subaru Build Threads
!Removed! hell fella looks like a lucky escape from the bbq'd Honda :o at least no one was hurt nice work with the gauge looks good bud ;) I think prodrive/lamco do a column mounted pod for the newage in a similar position as for the engine im afraid I don't know much about the later classic/newage compatibility of heads to inlet/loom .I do know that cdb's were only fitted to v1 and v2 wrx's and sti's .i think v3 and v4 sti's are open deck but im unsure if your v5/v6 is open deck or semi closed .so if you definitely wanted a cdb you'd have to bolt later heads to the cdb block or buy some adapter spacers to convert the inlet stud pattern (and probably switch a few sensors/plugs to suite your loom/inlet ). imo probably the easiest/cheapest soultions for a 400 hp conversion would be a newage sti bottom end (which although is semi closed it would be forged as standard so good for 400 maybe 450) with v5/v6 sti heads or a newage 2.5 sti bottom end which are rated to the same sort of power (but give more torque) with the v5/v6 sti heads you could probably do either of the above for about £1700(if you don't refresh and split the bottom end) including cossie head gaskets, apr head studs and a timing belt people do run the newage sti avc heads on classics with good results and a increase in spool but, i do know you'll then need the likes of a alcertek ecu (about £1k fitted) to control them and im unsure of the loom/ inlet compatibly (as said before) cheers clive -
Yet again some lovely motors there fella. there's a few companies stateside that cropped up when I was sourcing parts for my build . My Brian crower sport compact rods came from "real street performance" . I think the bad rep for U.S parts comes from the cheap Chinese copies that seem to be flooding the market (although we've got our fair share of eBay cheap chinky crap over here). I'm running a 6speed exedy clutch (in my classic) and like the oe pedal feel .how do the act clutches feel / perform ? as I'm hoping to exceed the exedy limits next year ;-)
-
Thanks for that tlag I know a little bit about classic impreza's even then only really v1 to v4, but that's only what I've either had to research or come across while fettling mine . don't go outta your way for the pics bud (I'm in no rush just curious) saying that once you do start to pull the motor appart ..... I wouldn't mind a pic of the exhaust manifold/upipe set up and one of the turbo outlet / intercooler pipework ;-) thanks again clive
-
Cheers chap , just mainly curiosity (at the moment lol) as to what other differences there is between single and twin . Other than the obvious extra turbo ,up pipe , headers and vacuum . things like do they run 2 actuators? Does the intercooler have two entries ? (Or is there some sort of 2 into 1 plenum prior to the core) Is the sump , oil pick up ect... the same as single ? (Or are they different like the twin scroll) Heads are they the same (if not what's the difference) Does the twin set up use any extra sensors / solenoids . And thats just off the top of my head I bet you wish you hadn't said"ask away" now :-D
-
Tdo series turbos do have more play than the vf series as they have roller bearings in the cores rather than relying on a well oiled shaft (que gambit comment lol) to take up the play . I can't tell you how much play is "excessive play" but ,if you trust the seller when he said it wasn't "noisy or smokey " when it came off his scoob the oe tdo5 is a strong turbo good for 330 to 350 mods pending . on the other hand the vf will spool a bit quicker but handle less abuse in the long run
-
So is it a snorkel one converted to front entry ? If so you could pick up another snorkel tdo5 and put your converted front entry inlet side on that (1 circlip and undo the actuator )
-
What tdo5 is it matt ? Front entry or snorkel ? 16 g oe mitsubishi or aftermarket ? If the tdo5 hasn't been used for a while it will have a certain amount of play due to the journal being dry (they rely on oil to take up the play/lube the centre shaft) Here's a link I used to refresh the seals on mine http://japtalk.com/2011/10/how-to-rebuild-a-td05-turbo/ but I personally wouldn't completely disassemble the the core without getting it professionally re balanced on assembly .
-
I got a few 360 games (the usual) jumpers and socks .main stuff was for the car though :-) 2pot rear calipers and godspeed discs Hdi fmic Boost junkie's red silicone vacuum hose kit . Think the scoob got more pressies than me lol my mum did buy me this t shirt :-D
-
Loving the look of your old 4 door legacy , nice work fella As for wide arch legacy's abw have just fattened up Damien Bradley's(700hp) time attack classic legacy and that looks sweet too.might be worth having a look at that for some bodywork inspiration (once you've got the mechanical side sorted) .I'd like to know a bit more about the twin turbo set up so will be keeping an eye on your build and probably pestering you with a few questions at a later date . best of luck with the project and the new year clive
-
Ok bud once you chuck a price on here I'll send him a link to this thread . I don't think the history matters to much as they'll be stripped refurbed/ upgraded and rebuilt to go on his 2.35 build , but I think he's got most of the bits for the bottom end , so will need them fairly soon cheers clive
-
Hi adam, I know someone who's after some v5/v6 sti heads any history or pics bud ? Any idea how much you'd want for them delivered to Surrey ? Cheers clive
-
He'll probably be able to tell you if you need to use the whole loom/ ecu and vacuum from the legacy .or just "T" in the extra vacuum and splice to the impreza loom .i haven't a clue on the similarities between impreza and legacy's as I've never even seen under the bonnet of one lol . did nearly buy a rsk4 though instead of my impreza ,but they were just outta my price range at the time :-(
-
Hey new impreza owner (thoughts plz)
savage bulldogs replied to jallen2412's topic in Subaru Gallery and Showroom
A mate of mine has a nissan couldn't tell you what model though lol but I can tell you that with the rear diff welded up it prefers to go sideways than straight lol -
Fairly sure all classic sti cones are the same matt . I've got a few shiny scooby scraps in the man cave 3" decat turbo back ,whiteline front drop links and a cusco "H" brace . will admit I might fit the "H" brace to mine though (I'll make my mind up over xmas )
-
I've got to change my full system eventually :'( as since I ported the headers the zigen cat back sounds meater than a boxing day cold meat "T" lol . shame though as it's one of the best quality looking systems I've ever seen (pure tig weld !Removed! lol )
