It's defo a subaru one but I don't know if it's the factory one for your year (have a Google ) if you're confident that you won't short anything out, unplug your ecu take the case of and if it's got a esl board(mapable) it will look exactly like the one in my previous post with the pic in of the esl'd ecu . gems, simtec, apexi ecu's will say it on the outside of the ecu ;-)
-
Yeah his "flying banana " classic is quite nippy to. I have got a 5 speed pink box exedy clutch plate ,pressure plate and skimmed flywheel with no more than 2k mls on it in the shed but no thrust race as I had to use it during my 6 speed conversion . Haven't looked if you can buy the thrust race separate but id only want £100 + pp if it is any use to anyone. Cheers clive

Scoobs (especially classics) tend to suffer from clutch judder even when the "anti judder " version is fitted . although the flywheel might look flat if it's not you'll get judder as it's not making contact with the whole surface . you'll have to Google lateral performance as I cant get a link to work on my phone, to get marks website but beware he sells loads of shiny scooby stuff lol
-
Looks like a standard ecu but it's difficult to say with the cover on . you'll have to give simon your ecu code and he normally brings one with the same code with a daughter board already fitted and takes the standard one home . if you're fitting bigger injectors the car won't run very well as the fuelling will need rescaling , but you'll be able to drive off boost if needs be . My brvs v1 sti has pretty much the same mods and he's running 347 /340 , but he does have a quality fmic , gt spec headers and higher lift sti cams . as for performance it lights the tyres in 3rd and he broke 2 5 speeds and is now running a 6 speed ;-)
-
The o2 sensor on my 97 classic plugs into a grey or black plug under the tmic near the clutch slave cylinder.
-
If you've got a boost gauge I think it should read 12psi (0.8bar ) so if it reads over 15 psi (1 bar ) id say it was probably mapped for higher boost .unless it has a manual boost controller or generic chip (mines chipped ecu) . Otherwise if your ecu looks factory on the outside it might have a esl daughter board . If you're confident enough you can unplug it and take the cover off then re fit it without any alarm issues.if it's esl'd It should look like this one I sold for £180 last year and + 1 for simon's mapping and service
-
What year /model is it baz ? as it might already have a 3 port , if not thier only about £30 for a second hand classic one . It's not a 100% necessary at that level of tune but, have to be mapped in once fitted so probably getting the mapper to fit it on the day . ecu is located under the passengers feet ;-) Do you know if the cars been mapped before, fella
-
If your injectors are grey they'll be 380cc (good for 300 max) if their yellow they'll be 440 cc (good for 350 max) . if you do buy 440's make sure their the right phase or you'll need to buy phase adapters as well (about £40 from lateral/ carl davey) Phase 1 (v1/v2) Phase 1.5 (v3/v4) Phase 2 (v5 / v6) I'd add walbro fuel pump ,3 port boost solenoid (gives the mapper better control over the boost) a few new studs , a few new nuts and genuine subaru gaskets for the exhaust system as far as mapping goes what ecu have you got ? cos v4 and below need either a aftermarket ecu or daughter board to be mappable . drop simon @ jolly green monster a email he's a mobile mapper and will point you in the right direction

Dec 2005 2.5 WRX "Hawk eye" parts for sale
savage bulldogs replied to Hammink Performance's topic in Subaru Parts For Sale
I would have only wanted front and rears as the door cards won't fit my gc8 . Don't want to waste your time making a offer as I've got a few bit's to buy and a remap at the end of the month, so haven't got the funds spare . Just curious as I liked the look of them and might consider some in the future . -

Some nice parts in there glwts just curious , but how much for the leather seats ? -
Yeah I have quite a few petrol headed friends and I think we've probably kept the local shell garage afloat during the recession . my brv just picked up a 1960's mini yesterday running a 1300 metro engine , coilovers, simtec ecu ect .. I'll chuck some pics up when I get some ;-) which is good news as he said he'll be braking his v1 sti , so I might have a few choice shiny scooby scraps and a new (older) mint shell for my project Surely some of you have mates motor's or second cars that are cherished get some pics up people's , they don't have to be scoobs or fire breathing sleepers just something shiny
-
Yeah the mk1's a beast of a sleeper forged wossiner pistons ,3.3 vr6 , straight cut s3 box ,1000 cc injectors . he converted to fwd himself ,I've only got a old graph taken during the running in map @1 bar that's whp not flywheel
-
There's a couple more vids of worbs's scoob on u tube but, otherwise I haven't got any more vids few other pics though pop's mk 2 golf 1800t , gt35 ,4wd,600+hp it should be on the road springtime and his vr6 gt40 4x4 mk1 golf it's having a new ecu/ loom mods but once done should be pushing 700 bhp

Just a bit of fun so feel free to post some pics /links of your mates motor's , don't have to be scoobs just something a bit different or generally cherished There's a few links on worbs catalunyia Watch "My self built 558bhp impreza, straight cut dog box whine" on YouTube Private road footage Watch "My 558bhp self built impreza" on YouTube The acceleration was mental in that :-) I'll post a few more as I find em

What have you done to your Subaru today ?
savage bulldogs replied to stants's topic in General Subaru Chat
Chucked a sponge at the old girl , stuck £40's worth of shell's finest and went for a b road blast :-D came back via carriage way , scalped a 330 beemer (hollow victory I know) and a 10 plate cupra r ,twice as one dose didn't cure him . put another £20 of juice in and went home with the (very frothy) 4 pint of milk lol -
That pipe from the header tank to turbo is for turbo coolant and shouldn't cause a misfire , worst case you might have air in the system . Usual culprits are as matt listed ;-) Do you have a boost gauge if so what does it read and does it fluctuate ? I wouldn't run 95 ron should be 97 ron at least ,next time you put some juice in (nearly empty) try some 99 ron see if you can feel a difference

The 5w 40 oil will flow better due to being that little bit thinner when cold , so probably suits your needs better . Also after thinking about it The valve stem seals seeping are less likely to be a issue on a boxer engine due to the horizontal set up .As the oil doesn't sit on top of the valves with gravity pulling it down once you turn it off or let it idle . best of luck and keep us posted , fella

Classic Gearbox in New Age
savage bulldogs replied to iNeoTom's topic in Subaru Engines, Exhausts and modifications
I've got a 6speed out of 04 uk sti ppp in my 97 uk turbo classic .the 3.54 uk ratio is the same in both boxes and at 70mph I do 400 rpm less in 6 th than I did in 5 th in the old 5 speed . However I did mean that either blob 5 speed or 6speed would be commuter friendly compared to a straight cut ppg . as my mate had to wear ear defenders in his ppg'd classic but , the the anti lag and screamer pipe probably didn't help lol . I know a mates 550 hp type r running a 6speed with no problems and I think duncan @ racedynamics runs 650 + through his 6 speed time attack car . I am not to sure whether uk long ratio boxes are as strong as their jdm short ratio counterparts though . -
I'd mabye try getting the garage to use a quality 10w 40 oil when they do the service as the (slightly thinner when cold ) 5w 40 might be seeping past the valve stem seals /rings prior to start up . if you're getting the oil yourself speak to tim @opie oils he'll be able to help you decide which oil suits your needs best (tbo I dont know what oil is best for a hatch) if you mention the club you'll get a discount as well ;-)

When the bearings or diffs are worn you get a whining or droning sound during acceleration / deceleration . usually caused by a lack of oil changes or pushing to much power through them/ abuse -

No problem mate ;-) a ppg box will whine more than my mrs did when I blew my 5 speed and told her I need £1500 for a 6speed :-D (there proppa noisy) 6 speeds are good for 600 hp + and a lot more commuter friendly. Drop the oil outta your whiney 5 speed and replace it with some "devils blood" , Redline shock proof oil should prolong it's life a bit till you can afford to replace it
