I think you will lose money which ever way you go. As Jay said before do have a few members from up your way I can ask a couple see if they know of any good garages. Might be surprised at the price you can get it fixed for. Like me with a clutch everyone was wanting near £800 cheapest a mate of mine would do it was £650. But Ash on here told me to try one in Sheffield £390 supplied and fitted. So even with travel and 2 movies at the cinema and a Nando's for dinner it's cheaper :D

It's the only reason I love this time of year. I can carry rope a shovel, pickaxe and some black bags in the boot of my car and get pulled over without the police asking to many questions.

Hi Chris welcome to S.O.C I agree with Jay. How much do you want to keep the car also. But a full engine rebuild would be the best bet, but could get a refurbished engine. But not always advised like what Jay said you never know how well it was built. But Tlag and Adam or Bip might be able to give you a bit more advice their all very good with the engine side of things :)

:( always around this time of year. With the fire place Miggs I take it it's a new one or a modern one should I say. I would just try get the hoover on it clean all the dust out of it and check that the flue isn't blocked. But It sounds like over temp sensor is faulty, but worth trying to hoover it all out seen that happen a lot with it not being used over the summer same with the boiler that could be a number of things. Just as bad as cars :(
