  1. Weathers looking like it'll be nice this afternoon, looks like my car will get the clay treatment tonight [emoji3] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. The advantage of 50/50 AWD. This was the main reason for my choice. Good ground clearance and full 4 wheel drive, not this pseudo 4x4 where the back wheels put out 30% of the power when the front wheels slip. The Honda CRV system is very good but no match for subarus, Kia have full AWD but it's not 50/50 and engines are a bit weedy, plus it's a Kia. Nissan Qashqai I won't have out of principle because there are so many, I like the fact that no one seems to know what an XV is yet everyone likes it. Haven't tried it in the snow yet but have been through some pretty sticky mud I wouldn't have fancied my chances in the civic with [emoji3] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Ok, I'll give you that one Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Properly joined the Subaru club, premium member, 15% off Halfrauds was the clincher [emoji4] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. 2 bucket method is the only way to go, looks good from the photos. Just don't get it dirty driving out of that field [emoji3] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. i bought my clay bar from halfords for a tenna (a meguairs one), and used a slightly more soapy water mix as the lube, gob it on with a mitt, clay the panel and rinse with a hose, panel by panel works a treat, cheaper than detailing spray.
  7. Hoping tomorrow evening I'll get it done, next to my wife's it looks rough [emoji20] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Nice one well done, worth the effort. I went to a dog training event and our dog one that! [emoji3] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Nah, just the grey one, white one is as rough as sandpaper although it's quite clean so it's an opitcal illusion, close up its like a babies bottom . . . Covered in crap [emoji3] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. your wish is my command. light was fading so hope these are ok? This XVs never been on the forum so this is its first showing. My wife is from the Henry Ford School, any colour you like as long as it's black. Or in this case dark grey pearl, near enough
  11. Wifes car as smooth as a babies bottom now, might get chance to do mine too. Washed in Meguiars synthetic paint soap, clayed whole car, meguairs ultimate compound, carnauba wax followed by meguairs ultimate synthetic wax and tyre black, wife did inside with Hoover and Autoglym interior shampoo and auto fresh so it smells nice. Looks great now for convincing Carstins dealers that there's enough in the car to trade up to a forester. Car actually looks better than when they gave it to us [emoji41]. Cider now, I'm knackered [emoji3] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Just been to Halfrauds, still 3 for 2 on Meguiars stuff, just bought a new clay bar, tyre gloss spray, carnauba wax and some ultimate compound. Hopefully later I'll be starring on my rendition if the shining[emoji41] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Would have come only been out at a dog training event with our spaniel. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. Used to do sprints at curborough, just up the road from me that. Weather looks better for it tomorrow. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Yep, my problem too, tomorrow looks good for cleaning though [emoji41] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. I do a lot of work which requires me to go on construction sites, I used to have a civic but kept smacking it on the floor. Decided to get something with ground clearance, looked at all the usual suspects inc the outback and the mitzi, Kia, Qashqai and several others but the XV as the best spec for your buck. Would love an outback but the price tag for new ones is quite a bit higher than the XV. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. Nice, I'm surprised you ever drive the scoob if you have that as an option Just needs a laminated STI badge
  18. He wasn't too old, so he'd probably spent his life's savings on this years insurance. He'd have been better getting some STi flaps or just leaving it shaved Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. I followed a budget subaru today, this will require some explanation. Right so I'm behind a black 51 plate subaru, has no badges on it at all but has an STi badge on the left of the boot had a baked bean can exhaust and colour coded components courtesy of hammerite. Sounded like the engine had some very angry dwarves in it with large hammers who were pretty keen on getting out. But I have my doubts this was in fact an STi. The badge looked a little odd, I pulled up behind him in the McDonald's drive thru and that's when it made sense. The STi badge wasn't an STi badge really it was one he'd obviously printed off on his computer, laminated and then glued to the back of his car. You have no idea how sad I felt after I had stopped laughing. Seriously, may as well have stuck a Ferrari badge on it. Good on him for owning a scoob, but shame for trying to pretend its something better than it is. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. I'd wait until the results are in, there's always a risk with the predicted weather that I might just end up sat in the garden with a BBQ and a crate of Stella cider. But I start with the right idea. [emoji6] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. Gearing up for a big Meguiars day either tomorrow or Sunday, clay bars at the ready [emoji3] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. Lol, misunderstanding. I would agree with your comment on the legacy and outback differences. In the last year I've only seen 4 other XVs on the road, as rare as rocking hoss doodoo I'll put my handbag away now[emoji13] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. Dunno, but on an XV apparently the only way according to subaru is to either type in the code in the fuse box which is a pain or to lock as described above, does seem a bit ridiculous, but it's true [emoji12] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. The XV has the same running gear as the outback and the forester I believe, incidentally it also has the greatest ground clearance, so I wouldn't necessarily agree with your comment. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
