What have you done on your games today?
Nevell replied to Gaulson's topic in Games/Console/Computer Nerd Room
Been playing world of **** , I mean world of bore sorry world of tanks , after a hour I'm bored shitless of it , I'm trying to figure why it's 31gig as the game play is not even that detailed fills like a 500mb game -
Right I'm back from holiday and back on the case this is on it's way to me I'll clean check sizes and paint more pics and info when the phase 2 ej20 block arrives I'm getting excited and nervous now :-)

You have the roof vent which comes standard on the spec c , could be a spec c ra best way is get the chassis code and look it up best you can
-
I need preview please :-) readylonewolf send me you must :-)

Loverly down there some good roads but the police cameras are in little vans and they proper hide , got a ticket :-( the traffic on the a34 is horrid
-
I bought some fuse taps and wired my boost guage directly from my fuse box under drivers side dash I have been away for a week down lyme regis fossiling with the family lol but I made a big mistake today lol the !Removed! took my washer jets Some loverly coastal roads to drive on aswell I was actually surprised at how good on fuel she was , as usually drinks the stuff Chugging along fully laden never missed a beat bless Now to the cool stuff engine time :-)
-
It's the easiest revenue the government can get ,hmmm, maybe because they not upped fuel tax ,like they wanted to ,there trying other ways, I heard aswell there changing the way they tax cars etc aswell soon , I'll take a wild guess it will be more expensive , I'm confused why are the government trying there hardest to make it impossible for people to drive , surely they should make it as cheap as possible then it would help in people getting jobs etc , no wonder why unemployment is so high etc , I swear the government are thick as ****, oh and as for the environment I don't see greenpeace doin free buses or feeding my kids

Haha well im going to try spread,it out over the year so the mrs don't do me in lol lol ,but around 2k is my budget :-), I'll worry about a 6 speed later :-)
-
Cheers savage this is the exact sort of Imput I'm looking for :-) a lot to think about :-)
-
Cool do you know if it's of rear thrust bearing type ? Only due to the crankshaft I'll be using ,I take it's open deck but , I'm deffo interested thus far ,but still unsure what block to use yet :-) to much to think about lol but I'm in no rush :-)!

Sounds good to me :-)

First of all I'm a complete amateur at engine building but not driveway mechanics ,done engine swaps gearboxes etc but still I'm stepping into the void lol ,the reason I want to do this is I have my subaru impreza wrx2002 bugeye tuned to 1.5 bar on a vf43 turbo with supporting mods , and I love giving it the beans but I have just destroyed a 5 speed gearbox ,and had to replace etc , this got me thinking with a 110'000 miles on her and being a completely standard ej205 not to sure how long she will last, so once the engine is built I'll be dropping it in her :-) , but also because It will be fun , but as I'm building the engine from scratch in my shed she will still be on the road . So all good , I'll be using a mixture of new and second hand parts and when ready using the auxiliary parts off the engine I have 'possibly the newage wrx heads aswell will see , and I'm only looking in the end to max out my vf43 so the build will only have to cope with 400bhp max and be reliable this build will be over the year so bear with .... Then I'll start thinking about a 6speed box :-) First step will be looking for a good but cheap ish bare block Open deck ( easiest to find can't find anyone who has warped block etc under 500 bhp but can I get away with one ?? Semi closed deck( best option as already ready rear thrust but same price as cdb Closed deck ( overkill on my build ? And will have to get converted to rear thrust bearing type or leave centre type ? But have no practical experience with this :-) I'm banging on about rear thrust type as there is more choice of crankshaft I.e nitrated spec c etc but most likely be using a oem new spec one ,and trying to stick to stock oem tolerances Once block purchased , cleaning honing or if bores in poor condition or not to spec off to the machine shop to be oversized I'll be measuring bearing journals etc for tolerances etc then ordering bearings to suit , I don't know what I'm doing really but hopefully I'll learn quick lol Still all questions I'm looking into, but any opinions or Imput would be gratefull all good reading up on things but sometimes outside opinions are all good :-)
-
It's what I'm going to be doing :-) I'm going to be building an engine from scratch (deep breathe ) been looking into it past couple of weeks and getting really excited about this ' shed build I'm amateur at this but I'll give anything ago ,lol I'm gonna be forging etc, and taking it slow ,so first step will be buying a cheap but good bare block so I can start cleaning honing and measuring tolerances ,and go from there ,it's gonna be a budget build but not cheap lol , I will start a build thread and most likely will get stuck at points so all help will be gratefully excepted :-) So I'll be looking in a couple of weeks when I get back from holiday for a cheap block , rods and pistons Crankshaft rear thrust bearing type :-) sti newage sump oil pick up etc

Looks good I'll be doing this soon :-)

Strange noise under engine breaking
Nevell replied to Xander's topic in Subaru Engines, Exhausts and modifications
it seems as though everyone with a light weight flywheel suffers this noise ,it seems to be normal. only way to stop it is go back to oem flywheel . -
Strange noise under engine breaking
Nevell replied to Xander's topic in Subaru Engines, Exhausts and modifications
sounds strange mate but I have the same thing lol just last week put a new clutch and light weight flywheel ,gearbox is quiet as a whistle in every gear but under engine braking sounds just as you said maybe engine braking is compromised due to the light weight flywheel ,im gonna have a look into this as I was starting to worry about my gearbox but now you said this ummmm strange, as if it was input or out put shaft bearing it would be noisy in neutral but its so smooth an quiet .... surely cant be a coincidence that we both have this after putting light weight flywheels and clutches in ........ supposedly its normal mate on lightweight flywheels everyone with one seems to have this problem and this is why ,,, the heavy flywheel absorbs a lot of the harmonic vibration, but the light weigh flywheel does not , this is what we are hearing ,especially 3rd 4th as more load ,equals more noise another update every Subaru with one that I have read about so far makes this noise
