Boost gauge/gauge pod help
ven replied to Mikey133's topic in Subaru Engines, Exhausts and modifications
Just a thought regarding water temp, bare in mind where its fitted, pre or post stat. If after you will get nothing till the stat opens(most gauges start at 40oC) then will rise quick to the 70s...........etc etc as now coolant passing an open stat. If plumbed into a pipe(maybe heater matrix) then you have engine coolant temp (pre stat),if stat fails you would be able to tell "possibly" in time with it going hot quick, may save a h/g ..............Just a thought from when i last fitted a water temp gauge(not to a subaru though). Other options would be tapping into stat housing before the stat and fitting the sensor. Most manufacturers gauges(the needle ) have a built in temp parameter(so the customer is not alarmed due to it rising/falling all the time),so it can show 1/2 way all the time ,yet it could be 70oC or 100oC for example...........only when its too late and rises, the damage can be done! Again just thoughts :) -
Thanks Jay :D much appreciated...............but £500 :o would have to be 50% discount to get my interest tbh or at least bring down to what i can get a spoiler for (£300) . I am not even a fan of CF(fake or not) ,its like a happy medium for me for finding an STI spoiler. Really dont want to pay(well the boss wont )more than that............ 1/6th of the value on the boot

Washed it............car too :P oils n waters checked as always done weekly. Looks clean till it drives 1/2 a mile on the m60 .........ok i exaggerate..............1/4 of a mile

Me Gambit? If so no,not looked, and a deal would be B) Bummer with the net,i gave up on BT years back after they tried to have me over ,been with virgin since and tbh a few gremlins but nothing major in maybe 6+yrs. Did a check on the air2 other night and(obv wifi) had 160meg and 15 up load............pretty good. Trouble is,be it BT,Virgin, sky etc ,someone will always have a horror story..........

This will possibly be the one i go for come time........... Have a look at one of the pics, show on a black Subaru........does not look too bad from pic,but still need to be sure . http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/331277553303?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

Sure it fits yours,i have a cobra(need to get centre part still) and sounds great(to me anyway)as it is .When i 1st got the car i could hardly hear anything, slight burble when concentrating. Now deep burble, sounds moderate outside(she said she could hear me coming down the road from a good way away) but its not intrusive. Just enough to :D and not I know bug,but size may give idea, not measured it(can do) but sure 4" From....... to Imo cobra offer pretty good value systems and its good quality ,not discoloured at all.............

Outskirts of Bolton ,used to go Leyland fab design a lot off at J8 near botony bay. About (well used to be) 20 min drive.

Congrats,would love to see a pic or 3 ;)

The boss has given go ahead for spoiler(can't hide that one tbh ,little noticeable and she knows her cars and STi spoilers) So time permitting I will nip up Leyland ,£300 cash but more important I can check it out to see if will look ok 1st. Best bit, said she will treat me to it if I wait a bit :-) I need to keep spiking her drinks with man thought pills :-)

Hi people my names del just bought my 1st wrx bugeye

Hi there, nice looking motor :) regarding DV the newage dont like them without being mapped for, they can(have read up ,researched over various forms of sites/info) cause a loss in performance. One common answer is stick with the standard re-circ unless going for big hp(will require bigger turbo anyway...........) When i got mine,i got a slight whistle and a snail sneeze with window down,a performance panel filter(more air in) and cobra rear exhaust has made quite a difference. Turbo spool whistle more pronounced,-re-circ DV louder now and can hear it ,without it sounding too loud. If you do go that way, dont buy any cheap ebay rubbish for £60 etc, decent DV ,maybe Forge, but look more into it. I would avoid imho unless mapped into, then add another £350 ish for that to the £150 ish for DV . In a nut shell ,filter, zaust, cat removed and 3 port(possible higher rated fuel pump) and re-map last may see you get up yo 280hp which is around the limit of the td04,any more and bigger turbo . Unlike the original, the newage req a re-map for most mods(after cat back and air filter side fine, dont go for a cone filter though) so best to stock up,get fitted, then mapped to save money in long run. Can be done for around £700 all in for a potential 280hp...............car dependent of course, may see 260hp,even then the re-circ DV is still advised. Without the hp figures,i would get it done to suit you and what you want your drive to be. I am no expert, but spent a while re-searching....... Cheer ven -
Your a star Andy, will go this route me thinks :) Poland ebay i presume, sure i have seen them, good news on the holes being spot on. Slightly different note, spoke about the CF high level spoiler and just has holes each side too(no extra to drill so easier) and £300 cash, picking up from Leyland way. Decisions decisions, pick up (cash) is to see if would look ok in CF,dont want to pay £300+ and it not look right........so worth driving rather than delivery if makes sense. Doing your way would save £100........... Thanks again Andy

Thanks, you *beep* the bed too Thats a lot better than i have been finding(190 for actual 08v spray ),spoiler off bay of e? Any links please? I am not far from you,any recommendations for the spraying please as can nip your way for work. Thanks again Andy :)

Nice job there, very nice Andy.........gave me a brain !Removed! as a solution when i get a spoiler. Dont suppose you got individual prices for spoiler etc :) Cheers ven

I tend to get around 40 L (fuel already in tank) ,give/take maybe 5L depending............being used to a 92L tank where getting an easy 80L in(fuel in tank reserve like the wrx) it certainly "saves time at the pump" :) From £300- sometimes £400 a month,i now even using super(before just 95 ron) i am putting only £120 -£160ish in tops The subaru costs me £200 a year more to insure(£700 with break down due to false claim against me few years back and lost 14ncb so now at 5ncb) imho =not bad,and a £200 ish a month fuel saving pay rise=good Touch wood,i am very happy in the subaru world :D always liked my Jap cars......... I remember pre shogun,i had a 200sx s14a(great car btw) and it was £40 to brim back then at around £79p ish a litre, travelling at time from Ramsbottom using 95ron,i would fill tank every 5 days(20mile each way,40 mile a day round trip). PS-yes woke up early ffs

And Manchester ....... Well maybe I was not going mad after all,so I am not the only one who has had worse results using nitro ! The comparison was against Texaco super at 97 Ron which does not have any special reputation.... I know the fuel comes from the same refineries, just shell or BP for example add their own additives that can not be found out due to....well others would copy(presuming they did not know mpg goes down lol ). Shells secret recipe !! BP I find ok priced for normal 95ron,but super ,I am yet to find a more expensive fuel! Not tried Tesco ,but then it's no easy task for me ,as none within a reasonable distance ...... That's some jump 4mpg........appears similar to my difference of 3mpg ......something amiss . Cheers ven

never thought!!! will be onto that one, cheers :)

Air filter advice. Prepping for remap.
ven replied to Scoobyghost's topic in Subaru Engines, Exhausts and modifications
As i always say to others...................all in good time. I regular got compliments on mods, everywhere i went i got asked Qs...........sometimes 1hr conversations which went down well..............not! I joked my truck is more well known than her.............again down well 6k+ of mods I dont expect to spend that again and live i got a lot thrown at me tbh,but knows me getting the wrx to where i want is 1k ,so about how much my boots were on the truck :) I need a down pipe without cat, centre section,re-map and maybe silicon hose for inter cooler..........oh and 3 port. Guess at about a 600 spend, then wheel refurb to a gun metal :) sticking with 17s due to roads and comfort as daily drive. Imagine what i could have B) -

My boss has almost give up,she knows me,i like to spend(other bits like cameras n flashlights,helicopters(3d not real) There is $700 of custom triple quad(3x4 XP-L) on solid brass heat sink here 5000 OTF lumens just in case any one is interested :P Thats just 1 light...............i have many many Then mods(ecig)i have many ,many mods/tanks,bellow is a spoiler in money So any questions,i throw that i am saving(yeh right) £250 a month on cigs,£200 a month on fuel(12mpg i was used to) She even said when i got it about getting new rims and maps, loves the sti spoiler etc etc I keep her sweet though, soften the blow a little, after writing 2 cars off in 2 months a 25k(miles not cost :o ) 1 owner (yeh i know its french and goes against everything i stand for.).............but she like it and too good a deal to pass on So i am good to go for mods, trouble is ,it is caravan time soon so holidays etc pennies required Oh best tip is separate accounts and lie about costs..........get delivered stuff to works address ;) ven -
Bare in mind mine is not mapped for a specific ron,i used to use 97ron super, moved now for several last tanks(tank lasts 10 days-2 weeks ish) to shell nitro of which i believe 99ron. Its made absolutely no difference in anyway...........or at least noticeable, may run cleaner.........dont know. I got into the habit of working mpg out per tank, knowing the miles done from fill up,then divided litres it took to brim into gallons, then into miles driven. This done maybe 5 or 6 times at least and with nitro,i am under what i was doing on 97ron. Tank wise does vary, but i do fill up at a 1/4,maybe a midges under but well before petrol light comes on(yes does work as tested 1st time to see when comes on,around 1/8th tank). I do know i get 41 miles from brimmed to max line ,i think wow how frugal, then it drops fairly quick from there, more so in the last 1/2. At 1st 24mpg of average driving due to well............imagine having a truck that took 4 weeks to get to 80, so odd *cough* here and there, best is 27mpg recorded. Pretty confident i could see 30mpg if driven more like someone normal Whats the point then :D I pulled in once to my local BP and about to brim with super clocked iirc around £1.40 a few week back, lets just say the flap was shut quick and off i went a few mile out of my way to shell :) Still sticking with nitro now, regardless if in real world use it makes a difference.............sounds better anyway
