  1. That's a fair comment and absolutely the right thing to do - yes I read all the threads in the links, that's where I saw the commonality of failures on the particular Subaru wheel style, the one type seemed to have examples of failures over others
  2. will look good
  3. That all sounds good :)
  4. dont forget your camera ;)
  5. I had a Silver Type UK hatch (a proper one with the 330BHP dealer mod) - unfortunately had to let it go recently but will have another when things turn around ;) http://uk.subaruownersclub.com/forums/topic/155-imprezatype-uk-pics-as-promised/
  6. I think an Andy Forrest visit would be a good thing ;)
  7. You have revolution up your end as well - given the recent write up in Jap Performance magazine I would seriously consider getting it mapped - not for the power but to ensure you avoid ringland failure - I had been assured by Subaru that the Prodrive pack taking it to 330bhp did address this but the author of the article claims not - you also get to add in functions like launch control, flat foot shift, downshift throttle blip and antilag should you desire :) http://www.just-subaru.com/
  8. Wotcha and welcome
  9. doesn't matter what brand of oil you are using you shouldn't be getting through that much in that small amount of miles - even driving hard - maybe in an endurance race but not hard road driving, if you can see blue smoke coming out on gear changes look at a compression test (hopefully not but you may have ringland failure so oil is coming past your rings into the chamber) or it could be your turbo but that would be more of a constant smoke emission
  10. Mine was with quite a bit of heavy driving - no real change in level
  11. just done some more reading - yes you can do - apparently Samco do a replacement hose which does away with the 'pre-turbo resonant chamber', this chamber is responsible for quite a bit of air swirl as the inlet and outlet are not aligned or matched
  12. Wotcha and welcome Thats not normal - I didnt put any in mine in 12 months
  13. That is a lovely example - I hope it finds a great home
  14.
  15. Just checked your engine bay shots - I see what you mean now, although I havent done it myself there are plenty of examples of people just replacing the big plastic box with a piece of pipe - Subaru themselves did away with it a year or two later than your model
  16. wrt the powder coating wheels - I have done car and bike wheels with no problems, I certainly wouldn't have risked a wheel failure on my bike - If I was running wheels purely for the track I would paint them to save weight but I have always have the work done at specialist wheel refurb and powdercoat places. Does it seem a bit more of a coincidence that it appeared to be the same type of scooby wheel that failed??
  17. No they are different - the head gasket goes between the head and the engine block, normally metal, the rocker cover gasket is normally a piece of rubber that goes between the head and the rocker cover
  18. Matt has drilled the bottom of his air box - and many people do just remove them
  19. Ill keep taking the tablets :P
  20. ;) I felt like the chap in Mad Max II going for the boomerang - big fail
  21. there we go :)
  22. me to - just realised In put it in the Impreza section... two ticks...

  24. thats true - its certainly one if there is a bit more money in the pot
