  1. Hi Dan, that is the definition of an odd problem. Glad you got it sorted. By control box do you mean the 4 switches and lock button on the drivers door or is there a box somewhere in the dash? When you had the issue did any of the other windows work from their switches or did they all stop working?

Control box as in the 4 switches and lock button (sorry)

All the other windows worked, the two rear were ok on their own switch and from the drivers one, I did experience the passengers switch moving mine (drivers window) as well as its own window towards the end of the switches life before getting a new one.....

I couldn't see any other issues or wiring touching or loose so opted for a new switch box instead. (4 switches drives door)

  2. If we looked at getting a meeting in Surrey going to Boxhill? Would anyone that way be interested???

If so, let me know....... And we'll get a date in the diary to make it happen!!! Or if there is another place instead of Boxhill then let me know..... After somewhere with good space for the cars and a place for food / cafe too ohhhh and a loo!! Lol

    Saturday 15th August 10am

Goodwood Racecourse, Chichester, West Sussex PO18 0PH

    Hey........

I'm hoping if we give plenty of notice we should get a few people involved together at Goodwood racecourse? Free entry, there's loos, cafe and most of all the race track to watch the cars go round.

A good central meeting point for the Hampshire guys and Sussex guys to meet?

    Up for it??????

  4. Welcome,

Looks good, if you need help or advice give us a shout, I'm in Arundel way so not far and hold regular meetings within the areas - Portsdown Hill / Goodwood / Whiteways etc....... So follow the south east meeting page and see what's happening and when.......

Will get a meeting again yourway soon

  5. Hey,

I had a problem a while back with my window switches, it was all working fine then one day the drivers window would only work the once then that was it...... Unless I turned the car off and on again then it would work again, but only the once??

I cleaned up all behind then control box (degreaser and cleaned) then re connected but nothing, so in the end I brought a new control box / switches for the windows and it all works fine now......

As it was only the drivers one getting stuck I just replaced the control switches......... A 2nd hand one was less than £15 inc p&p for mine.

  6. That looks good, can't wait till I get mine on now!!!!

I've attached pics of the spoiler I have now, it's a nice looking one, it's just the brake light missing.......

I've got a few people nearby that can spray so hopefully will be able to get it done quickly and well.

I'll post the pics when it arrives and it's on the car

  9. My uk turbo had a mid level spoiler with a brake light as standard which just plugged into a black plug that came off the loom near the boot light wiring. I think it had 2 nuts on either side holding it in place and a rubber "gasket" spacer to stop water ingress through the bolt holes .

Although the v1 sti's had midlevel spoilers I think my brv had to scotch block into the live wire that feeds the rear brake lights as they're wasn't a plug to run it's aftermarket boot spoiler with a brake light that was fitted to it when he bought it

now it's mine I fancied trying to get the v1 sti looking a bit more standard on the outside at least, so decided to switch spoilers .

The v3 spoiler came off easy Un plugged and Un bolted [emoji41]

Who ever fitted the aftermarket one to the v1 had used a ton of tiger seal to bond it to the boot lid , so I had to heat gun it off leaving residue all over the (now exposed) center of the boot lid

    [emoji15]

Luckily the v1 and v3 are the same colour so I put the v3 boot lid and spoiler on the v1 ,changed the locks over and plugged it into the plug ,I think my brv wired in [emoji6]

So maybe check for a 2 pin black plug in the boot ,cross reference the bolt hole center measurements and check to see if the aftermarket one is bonded on or whether it has gaskets you can reuse.

unless you have gaskets sealing washers with the new spoiler

    Your a good man!!

I'm sure I've seen a loose connector in the boot in the jack area, so could be that? I'll have a look when it arrives.....

When I brought it (the car) it came already with the aftermarket spoiler which had a brake light in already, which is bigger and taller than the standard mid-range one as standard, so hoping the wiring is there due to the old brake light got removed from the spoiler.

  10. Hey all,

I've got a Classic V1 STI Impreza and have got an aftermarket spoiler at the mo & just brought a new STI spoiler with clear break light, it's meant for this model and any between 93-00 but is there much to do or prepare?? Or is it just a bolt on like for like??

How easy is it to connect the brake light for this and where too??

    Thanks in advance.

  11. Never had an issue, most cars that are in the mod world have been changed at some point....... I had a Mk2 Escort standard 1.3 engine and exhaust system ripped that out and changed it to a 1.6 twin 40's and an Ashley race system to a 2 and a 1/4" from the manifold back!! Lol never got any problems.

Agreed with above tho, if you take the 'hiss' and sit outside poor Doris's house testing the revs and backfire then I'm sure the cops might have something to say!!!

All in moderation and respecting the surroundings Villages to SantaPod raceway we just need to know what's right for the right times!
